We’ve been following and supporting The Good Men Project for years. When we came across an article written by Thomas G. Fiffer we had no idea we’d finally be able to talk about his work with this powerful movement and share with our listeners his perspectives on dysfunctional relationships. Tom, tell us a little about your background and how you came to write about topics such as dysfunctional relationships and abuse.    So how do you define a dysfunctional relationship?   Aren’t all relationships dysfunctional to some degree?   You mentioned that your article was published on The Good Men Project. Tell us a little bit about them.   Do you write anywhere else?   The article that prompted us to contact you for this interview is one you wrote called “7 Unspoken Secrets About Life After Abuse.” Can you talk a little about that?   So what are some of the unspoken secrets?   So, do you have any advice for people on how to stay out of dysfunctional relationships and proactively avoid potentially abusive situations?

What triggers an audit?  How do they know that they should audit you? Has your software solution ever been involved where an actual audit was being done by either CMS or OCR? Careful consideration went into this interview with Dr. James H. Fallon. It is not every day that a boutique radio show like ours reaches out to a world-renowned neuroscientist, let alone one that has contributed immeasurably to the field of human behavior we avidly support. However, Dr. Fallon, who asked me simply to call him “Jim”, was easy to reach, glad to be of service, and said he was up for anything I wanted to ask him in this interview. He did ask that we stay away from personal stories that might negatively affect his family. We have a large audience of survivors of psychological abuse, please be advised this show could be very triggering for some listeners. When you did your research, what were some of your findings when it comes to changes in quantity and quality of sexualized images of women we are seeing? We are definitely seeing a rise in the number of images that depict women in sexualized ways. In your article you touch on the effects a culture that sexualizes and objectifies women has on men. Can you go into a little more detail about that? You talk specifically about the harmful effects of ography use on both men and women.What is so harmful about ography? You mention a term called self-objectification in your article. What exactly does that mean? You talk about Eurocentric beauty standards and how you were personally impacted growing up Middle Eastern.Can you talk more about what it was like for you personally to grow up Middle Eastern in a culture that values Eurocentric ideals? In the first part of your article you question whether you would rather be the woman who gets whistled at or the one who doesn’t.What did you mean by this? We recently interviewed author and speaker Bethany Yeiser on Mental Health News Radio.  She shared her journey with schizophrenia, homelessness, and recovery. Today we enjoy speaking with her mother, Karen Yeiser.  Karen has written what is a companion book to Bethany’s story.   One of the questions we asked Karen was how life may have been different for their family if her own book had been available during their years of struggle but also recovery. She earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology with honors from the University of Cincinnati in 2011.
