Ham Radio 2.0

This is a new DMR HT from Hytera made for the Amateur Radio Community. In this episode I will show the menu of the radio and the CPS software, and key up a local DMR repeater.http://livefromthehamshack.tv

With the recent update of RadioID.net and Ham-digital.org to take over the DMR Subscriber database from DMR-MARC, I thought it would be a good idea to get an interview with the owner of the site, and some insight into what has been transitioned, how the current system works, and what we can expect to see in the future.http://livefromthehamshack.tv

HAMCOM is one of my favorite shows each year. It is the ARRL West Gulf Division Convention and it takes places in my home-area. This year they moved back to East Plano, where it used to be held several years ago, and the ticket sales showed tremendous growth. TYT has released a new Dual Band DMR Radio in the form of their classic MD-380, which they have deemed the MD-UV380. It looks the same, feels the same, and acts nearly the same, except with updated firmware and features, and having both bands for DMR. From the Cowtown Hamfest in January of 2018, Mark Culross, KD5RXT, presents a forum on how to setup a MESH network, then attach devices together with a private WIRES-x room using Yaesu System Fusion equipment and protocols.http://livefromthehamshack.tv

In this video I show a comparison of the Openspot from SharkRF and the Nanospot from Micro-node. Both of these devices work quite well and are great choices for micro-repeaters. I'll show setup software for each unit and also compare features.http://livefromthehamshack.tv

This Android DMR and phone device has been my daily carry for about 1.5-2 years now, switching between models, but all from RFinder. I like this device, I believe in it, and it works very well.
