This is a Digital Voice Modes Forum, recorded at the Dayton Hamvention 2017. We get to hear from Carl at RTL-SDR.com, then from Uli with Wireless Holdings, then finally Mel, K0PFX, about the FreeDV devices and applications for digital voice over HFhttp://livefromthehamshack.tv
FINALLY! It shouldn't surprise anyone that TYT was the first to respond to Amateur Operators worldwide who have been wanting a dual band DMR Radio. With the success of the MD380, it is a no-brainer to create such a model. And here it is - after being heavy into DMR for about 4 years myself, this is the first dual band radio I've seen. Take a look at the review.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
From the 2017 Dayton Hamvention, Andre, K6AH, from the AREDN Group, presents a forum about MESH networking using the AREDN firmware on various devices. MESH networking with AREDN is going to be one of my most talked about topics in upcoming episodes. This is really cool stuff. Give this video a look-see.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
Dan Romanchik, KB6NU, gave this forum presentation at the 2017 Dayton Hamvention on how to teach a new technician class in only 1 day. Using his "No Nonsense" study guide, he describes his method for getting new hams licensed, and then teaching them what radio is all about, once they are able to operate and "learn by doing"
As I close out Episode 96, I get to interview Cale Nelson, K4CDN, from the Ham Radio 360 Podcast. Afterwards, closing statements detailing my thoughts about the new Hamvention are shared. This is complete Episode 96.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
Parts 5 and 6 of my Episode 96 from the 2017 Dayton Hamvention. In part 5, I get to chat with Chris from Buddipole about some new products, and updates to existing products. Part 6 is a face-to-face with Bob from RFinder.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
In Part 4 of this episode, I get to chat with Dave, WI6R, from RadioSport. These guys make some really high-quality headsets, which are good for use with HF radios, especially in noisy environments or to pull out low signals. Take a look at the following interview.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
In part 3 of my Dayton Hamvention 2017 episode, I interview Tim, KE0GWR, from BridgeCom Systems. We can about repeaters, ARNS, duplexers, and linking systems together over the internet.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
In Part 2 of my Episode 96, I talk to MFJ about amplifiers, LFA Antennas, and a wide array of products, new and old, that they have on display here at Hamvention 2017http://livefromthehamshack.tv
The 2017 Hamvention was actually at a new venue this year, located in Xenia, OH at the Greene County Fairgrounds. This was my 3rd time to attend the Hamvention, but my first time to have an actual table dedicated to my video series. I had a blast - it was an excellent show (despite the weather), I had lots of fun, met some good people, and I am certainly planning to go back next year.A special thanks to the guys at BridgeCom Systems who allowed me to share a booth with them, which saved me some expenses.I am trying something new with this episode - it will be split up into multiple segments (Part 1, Part 2, etc). This is to allow you, the viewer, to pick which interviews you want to watch, and not have to sit through a 2-hour episode just to see one interview. Of course, I hope that you are willing and able to watch them all, and provide feedback, but some topics might not interest everyone. This way, you can watch what you want, and all the videos are shorter than a normal episode.
Darryl, K5DLQ, and I setup a MESH tunnel over the internet, which simulates an OTA MESH network that we could create if we were closer to one another. On this tunnel, we setup a SharkRF Openspot server/client connect and make a QSO over the MESH.
Today I get to sit down with Merlin, WB5OSM, and Tim, KE0GWR, at the Green Country Hamfest in Claremore, OK. We get to learn about the history of the Hamfest itself, andabout some cool new toys from Bridgecom Systems for Amateur Radio repeaters..This is the type of show I plan to record at several upcoming Hamfests in 2017 and 2018. If you're interested in being interviewed or just rag-chewing,hit me up..http://livefromthehamshack.tv
In Episode 60, I had my first interview with Bob, W2CYK, about the new Android DMR device from RFinder. In this new episode, I wanted to catch up with Bob and talk about some updated to the Andoird DMR phones, and also gain some new knowledge about additional products upcoming in 2017.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
2 years ago today I posted my first video with the title "Ham Radio 2.0" attached to it. That was actually episode #2, and it was a DMR presentation I gave to one of the local Ham Radio clubs near me. Fast forward 2 years, and I now have 92 episodes with just over 5700 subscribers on YouTube. I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes for the next 12 months.http://livefromthehamshack.tv
I spent the last week or so tinkering with the software fr this radio, which was a huge learning curve. This video will be Part 1, and after I've spent more time getting used to the radio, I'll record another video for it.
