Get your Flapper outfits ready and fill that tub with bootleg gin--The Margos go deep into the backstory of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Though it is now considered one of the most important American novels of all time when it was published in 1925--it sold half as well as his previous novels and Fitzgerald felt like a failure.

The Margos put on some extra shoulder pads and finish out their Joan Crawford movie streak with the 1945 classic film noir Mildred Pierce which is based on 1941 novel by JM Cain.  In this potboiler of an ep they discuss

The Margos revisit the 1971 novel The Exorcist written by the very interesting William Peter Blatty.  Based on a true-ish story about a boy possessed by a demon in the 1950s Blatty changed some of the key details to create this fiction classic.

The Book Vs. Movie podcast finally takes on the Suzanne Collins’ classic 2008 novel The Hunger Games and compare it to the 2012 movie--both smash hits. We were a little scared to take this on as the trilogy as it has some very fervent fans. But the Margos are as fearless as a tribute from District 12 so we grab our bow & arrow and take aim at each work of art.

The Margos are back with a new episode suggested to us by a listener--Brokeback Mountain. You didn’t know it was based on a short story written by Annie Proulx and appeared in the New Yorker in their October 13, 1997, issue. It won the National Magazine Award for fiction in 1998. Author Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana adapted it into the screenplay for the 2005 film directed by Ang Lee.

This past November the Margos covered "Murder on the Orient Express" and we were asked online why we did not cover the Kenneth Branagh-directed film in that particular show. Well, the answer is simple, we only talk about books and movies that are easy to get and watch.
