Though it is now considered one of the most important American novels of all time when it was published in 1925--it sold half as well as his previous novels and Fitzgerald felt like a failure

The Margos are feeling stoked about this 1980s-centric soaked episode talking about a much-requested book/movie Ready Player One from first time author Ernest Cline. This pop-culture stuffed tale features more gamer references than anything we have remotely covered in the past so we are a bit nervous about how accurate we will be, (Be kind if you are a first-time listener!)

In this bonus ep Margo D. talks with guest David Hart, writer at Talk Film Society, about four psychological illnesses and/or traits and pick one film each that best represents them. David is a former Psychology Intern at VA Sierra Nevada System and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in clinical psychology.

It’s October and the Margos are SO excited to revisit a classic Stephen King tale--Carrie which we originally covered in 2014 (using the old, old way we recorded back in the early days.)  This is not only King's first movie adaptation but it is also based on his first published novel.

This is our favorite month of the year and we have so much fun talking about one of our best-loved stories from our childhood-- The Legend of Sleepy Hollow written by the fascinating Washington Irving.  We pair it with one of our favorite directors, Tim Burton and his reimaging of the tale-- Sleepy Hollow.  

The Margos get very gothic and silly sometimes trying to wrap their heads around Mary Shelley ’s venerated classic novel with Henry V director Kenneth Branagh’s wildly acted and directed film. How crazy is this adaptation? How about a dance sequence between a zombie Helena Bonham Carter and Robert De Niro as “the monster?”

What would you do if your mother and father all of a sudden became entirely different (and scary) people? Coraline Jones is a young English girl who moves to an old house that is filled with interesting characters (such as Miss Spink, Miss Forcible and Mr. Bobo,) loving (yet kind of absent) parents and a bricked-up door leading to an adventure which tests the might and ingenuity of our heroine. (Spoiler--we really love this book & movie here!)

The Margos are determined to finally make "fetch" happen by comparing the 2002 Rosalind Wiseman book "Queen Bes & Wanna Bees" with the Tina Fey-penned "Mean Girls." How do they compare and contrast? Check out in this fun episode!
