Intermission Podcast

Summary: The Intermission podcast is a look into the world of movies from four friends, who really have no business running a podcast. The podcast is primarily movie related, but often the Movie Guys will get sidetracked, and discuss anything that may be happening in their lives at that given moment. Video games, comics, trailers, and a little genre they like to call "other".

Ep 21: Halo and Call of Duty on the big screen | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:10:28

This is a very special episode of the Intermission Podcast! We spent the night at the XBOX 360 tournament at Silver Screen VII, which is pretty much all we talked about this week. At the theater we were able to interview some awesome people, play some video games, and had a grand ol' time. The turnout was INCREDIBLE, literally hundreds of people were there. In an interview with the owner he hinted that there may be a tournament in the future, and I highly recommend attending. You'll have to excuse the audio quality of the interviews. It was our first time recording outside of the studio, there was a ton of background noise, and we were learning as we went. Not to mention the fact that we were pretty tired during some of the interviews. On this weeks episode: Corey says "Awesome" a lot. He also introduces himself a lot. First up, we interview Team Sexy. Fortunately for us they were playing Call of Duty and not Halo. At this point in the night we still thought we had a chance. Ha. Anyways, they throw down some pretty serious trash talk, and reveal their official game plan. These guys were the real deal, they brought all of the maps and studied between rounds. I'm still in shock that they didn't even place. Next up, we interview Ricky Barnes and his unknown team name. I know you can't see Ricky in the recording, but he is one big mother f*cker. He attributes his success to Luckydoo's 24-Hour Fitness. They also throw down some pretty serious trash talk and we still think we are going to win.... Guy's friend that is a girl, Lacey aka "Snowflake" came to give us emotional support. She only stayed for one round, but she was kind enough to let us conduct an interview. We are also working on a "T-Shirt Kit." They will ship in quarter 3. At this point in time, it still hasn't sunk in how many people were there. We were hoping for 9 Halo teams, and there were 32. Way more than we expected. For some reason we have started doubting our ability. Josh sees Craig's dog pooping out the window, which leads to a discussion about him eating, and pooping, a memory foam pillow. Sure, it's gross, but makes a good story. Craig thought we were going to interview the first place team from round one. He was wrong, it was the second place team Armored Octopi. Some really cool dudes, but really killed our self esteem. Team Sexy makes a surprise visit. And finally, we interview the owner of Silver Screen VII, Robbie Pugh. We'd like to thank him for putting on the tournament, and allowing us to record on site. All of the staff at Silver Screen are really great people, and we appreciate everything they do for the podcast, and the community. Until next week Intermission listeners.

EP 20: Ride Along, Hockey Fights, and does Corey have herpes? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:29

Ron Burgundy: Let Me Off at the Top!: My Classy Life and Other Musings Corey isn't with us this week. He has a really bad case of herpes. Video game tournament at Silver Screen 7, this Saturday (January 25) at 11:30PM. The MovieGuys will be on site signing autographs. They will be featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Halo 4. Guy is going to quit his job so he can win the $500 grand prize. He figures with that much money he'll never have to work again. Oblivion: Josh says that Tom Cruise didn't ruin the movie, but he wasn't all that great either. Guy was not impressed by Oblivion. The Watch: Yet another movie that Craig hasn't seen, the heat. Guy says it's good. The Heat: Just the thought of Sandra Bullock was enough to put Guy in heat. His words, not mine. Ride Along: Sure, Craig doesn't like Kevin Hart, but he still made it to see Ride Along on opening day. What's up with that? He also didn't like that they changed from day to-night in a lot of scenes where it shouldn't have changed. Corey would have hated the cinematography. It also had that guy that is in that video, why you askin all them questions. New Baja Blast Mountain Dew! Baja Blast Regular, Baja Blast Sangrita or something, and Baja Blast Diet. Josh says diet doesn't count as a flavor. Guy has never had a Taco, or Taco Bell, and refuses to eat liquid cheese. He only eats chicken tenders at Mexican restaurants and claims to have never had a vegetable. He says french fries don't count as a vegetable. We're actually amazed he's still alive. Mark Wahlberg is getting his own show, the Wahlbergs. It looks like it has potential. Before the podcast, Guy teased Juggernaut news. Apparently he now uses Juggernaut as an adjective, and was using the term to describe the Batman/Superman movie being pushed back to 2016. Johnny Depp is possibly in talks to play Dr Strange. Guy likes the idea, but says he isn't a big enough character to make a movie about. Josh tells us about one of the most annoying movie trailer's I've seen in a while, Transcendence. I really like the idea behind the movie, but the audio in the trailer is super annoying. Cheap Thrills, the movie is called Cheap Thrills. It's a movie where that guy that plays the sports caster in Anchorman stars paying two guys to do stuff to each other. Everything from a foot race, to chopping fingers off. And all sorts of stuff in between. Dolby Atmos is one of the most amazing things we've ever heard about. 128 unique channels of pure bad-ass audio, surrounding you and pulling you even further into the film. The ultimate movie audio experience. A retired police officer in Florida shows us what happens when you text in a theater when he is watching a movie. You get shot. We hate texting in theaters too, but we have never had the urge to shoot anyone over it. Archer Vice, has two of the three Movieguys really excited. Next up we talk awesome hockey fights, well, Craig talks about the Vancouver vs Calgary brawl that happened last Saturday. The fight occurred two seconds in, resulted in eight ejections and 152 penalty minutes were given. That's not all, at the end of period one, the Canucks coach heads to the Flames locker room trying to start another fight. It was awesome! Guy invents a new word, Dickalloo. He can't spell it.

EP 19: Josh Reviews Godzilla (2014), Lone Survivor and Mythbusters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:14:01

In this weeks episode: Guy reviews Con Air. We can't quite put our finger on it, but something seems different. Corey doesn't want the Breakfast Club to be remade. Why is it called the Breakfast Club? Did they ever have breakfast? And Corey and guy are stupid and think its the best 80's movie How can a Gilligan's Island movie be made. Could they just cut a bunch of clips together to make a movie? Craig thinks Gilligan's Island ran for 20 years, but Josh was quick to correct him with these things called "facts" (there were only seasons). Would the show still be relevant today? Guy think's that there was a slut on the show. Why is it always sluts with Guy? Josh reviews Godzilla. Yeah, that's right, the one that doesn't come out until May 16th. Silver Screen VII in Gallipolis, Ohio is pondering on a video game tournament in their theater. Tell them your thoughts on their Facebook Page! We all agree that it's a great idea. Ideally it would be a first person shooter, that would support plenty of players in each round. Halo or Call of Duty would be ideal. It was also mentioned that Marvel vs Capcom, or Tekken Tag Tournament would be fitting. Someday we hope for a racing game of some sort as well. Games in the theater turns into a debate over whether or not split screen would work. I honestly don't know why there is a debate over this, we are talking about a movie screen! Not a 27" TV! Does anyone watch the Oscars? Most of the MovieGuys don't. Except for Guy, but he only watches them when a movie he really likes is up for an award. Josh watches them if nothing else is on and he can't find the remote. Wolf of Wall Street. Yeah, it's vulgar, but it's OK because it's spread out over 3-hours. We actually found a stat that broke it down. Wolf of Wall Street uses the F-Bomb 2.83 times per minute, well below the acceptable level. And don't bitch about it being vulgar! It's rated R for a reason! It also tries to make you feel sad that quaaludes no longer exist. Craig tries to make a connection between Wolf of Wall Street and the Departed, he failed miserably. Corey really likes how they broke the fourth wall, yeah, we don't know what he's talking about either. The Hobbit. The feet seemed to be a non-issue for Corey and Guy, but Josh still thinks they were too fake looking. Has it come to this? Really? We are arguing about CGI vs rubber feet? Lone Survivor, best movie since Saving Private Ryan. Go watch it. Right now. Don't even finish the podcast. Just go do it. Seriously. Stop thinking about it. Lone Ranger. Guy watched it, and didn't like it because the Lone Ranger wasn't a badass. Tonto just wasn't enough to make the movie worth watching in his eyes. American Hustle. It wasn't as good as what we had hoped. It's OK, and worth a Red Box rental, but not worth a purchase. Then ending pulls it all together, and we really enjoyed the amount of cleavage shown by Amy Adams. Basically, there was too much talking, and not enough doing. IFC premiers Spoils of Babylon, and we love it! Speaking of TV shows, the Mythbusters have a new TV special called Dangerous Toys, which is incredible! They take ideas from kids and make it a fiery, robotic, reality! Is live feed Twitter OK on TV shows? Josh thinks it makes the TV show more crowded, and takes up screen space. We also don't care for the amount of scripting that reality TV is getting. As usual we have a short Star Wars discussion. This week we talk about the Star Wars episode of Mythbusters. Guy is devastated when he learns that they in fact DID NOT make a light saber. TV shows are a recurring trend this week. Agents of Shield, Simpsons, Workaholics, Men at Work, and Gold Rush to name a few. To finish the episode off, we get all sciency and talk about lasers. Laser graffiti, laser mosquito zappers, and just plain old laser mischief. Until next week movie fans!

Ep 18: Best movies of 2013, The Popcorn Bar, and are prosthetic limbs cheating? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:23

Happy New Year from the Intermission Podcast! This week on the Intermission Podcast the MovieGuys celebrate the new year in the most logical way, by talking about our favorite movies from last year! Along with our favorite movies from 2013, we also discussed the latest movies we watched, and get into a heated debate about the Olympic runner with prosthetic legs. I don't think we ever came to a conclusion on the topic, but I still call it cheating. On This Weeks Episode: Josh rented Elysium, he hasn't watched it yet though. He'll be back next week with his review. Scheduling things with Corey is a nightmare. Can you walk without your big toe? Are prosthetic limbs cheating when it comes to Olympic running. Corey and Craig feel like the guy without legs is cheating. Craig finally saw Anchorman 2, which he liked, but he isn't in-like with it.There is a lot of stuff on the trailers that aren't in the movie, and we all agree that we need to see the alternate movie. We also discuss the RV scene, in which the rigging they used to flip the Winnebago wasn't hidden, at all. Part of Anchorman 2 is spoiled by Corey, which leads us to the next topic. What is the line when it comes to spoilers? When is it OK to start talking about potential spoilers. As a whole, we decide that it's proper etiquette to wait until the film is on DVD for at least two weeks. Craig also watched Gone in 60 Seconds, which leads to a discussion about Nicholas Cage and his roller coaster of a career. *Cough* Wickerman *Cough* We're pretty sure Corey watched 47 Ronin without us. He says he was talking about Raid: The Redemption, but we don't believe him. Next we take on our favorite movies of 2013. We theorize that Guy put his list together, while we were recording, and possibly just copied Corey's list. Next week we review movies coming out in 2014

Happy New Year Intermission listeners! Thank you for supporting us in 2013 and we look forward to what we have planned for 2014! This was a slow movie week for the Movie Guys, but don't worry, we still find plenty of things to discuss for your listening pleasure! As far as movies go, we discussed, White Lightning (The Jesco White Story), The Internship, The Hobbit (twice!), RIPd, A Summer Story, Delivery Man, and some others.A discussion on the Star Wars episode of Mythbusters, Guy got going on the topic of light-sabers (again) and for the last time, THEY NEED TO BE CHARGED!

The episode starts with a discussion on Anchorman 2, which Guy watched with his "Lady Friend" before taking her back to his Grandma's. We also discussed the best western poll as well, and even have a few call-in guests to chime in! And Josh tells us about his new house, that is apparently haunted with cats.

Another fun week here at the Intermission Podcast! Unfortunately Josh wasn't with us this week, he was occupied doing new house stuff. But we still make sure to give him a call to get his opinions on cannibalism. Thinking back on it I'm not really sure how we got on the subject, but hey, it happens. Also this week we talk Paul Walker and the future of the Fast and Furious franchise. Guy thinks that Tombstone is the best western ever, look out for a poll in the coming days. We also discuss actors we hate because they are douchebags, Godzilla, Terminator, the new Terminator TV series, and food. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy another episode of the Intermission Podcast!
