 Natural Law, Afterlife, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/17/18), Hank goes over his eventful weekend. First was Hurricane Florence that hit the Carolinas. We hear so much about the havoc that hurricanes wreak—but there are also intended benefits. Natural law works in synergistic fashion—the same gravity that keeps us on the planet also enables painful falls. And so it is with hurricanes. Hurricanes relieve drought—many places would not get rain apart from the phenomenon of hurricanes. They facilitate climate change by distributing equatorial heat. And they also drive seeds and spores interior to restore plant life. Hank then talks about being at the bedside of his mother who is at death’s door. Hank states that on the one hand you see the horrors of death, on the other—if you think about where death leads to—it can be exhilarating. As Hank points out in his book Afterlife, death is entrance into a brand-new sphere of existence. There is life after life, and we will experience that at some future point in time. But we are also going to experience life after life-after-life, when the time comes for God to restore everything. The soul will return to the body and we will once again be fully human. Hank answers the following questions: Back in the time of temple sacrifice, what did they do with the animals after they were sacrificed? Is it acceptable to have Native artwork? Should I avoid renting a room in my home to Muslims?

Best of BAM: Paul—Apostle of Christ, Christian Persecution, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank talks about the new resource that is available for your support all this month at CRI, Paul—Apostle of Christ on DVD. This film brings first-century Rome to the big screen like never before, detailing the last days of one of the most infamous persecutors of Christians—a man who went on to become Christ’s most influential apostle. Hank says that the film highlights persecution, by showing how the early Christian church was willing to face all of the indignities that one human being can foist upon another— because they genuinely believed in resurrection. Hank answers the following questions: Can you address Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood? Did Jesus at times decide not to use his divine nature when asking questions?

Hurricane Florence: An Eternal Perspective | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/14/18), Hank addresses Hurricane Florence, which is currently causing massive flooding and destruction in the Carolinas. Americans have long considered their country impervious to natural disasters so common in the rest of the world. We see the suffering of people in third world countries and somehow think that here in America things are different. We live in a civilization that believes in natural and moral evil from an intellectual perspective, but think that it could never happen to us. That was precisely the condition of a man described by Jesus in Luke 16. One day he lived in pampered luxury—the next he found himself in a tragic condition that trumps a natural disaster. While we may wake up to devastation in the aftermath of Florence, he woke up to a far more horrific reality—the reality of eternal conscious torment in hell. Too late he perceived the unbridgeable chasm between heaven and hell. Too late he supposed that he should have been a witness to his brothers. Too late he postponed repentance. It is our prayer that images of devastation will arouse us from our lethargy and engage us to give water and food to those in need and to use the testimony of our love and of our lives as an ultimate witness which will lead us to give them the bread and the water of life so that they may truly never hunger and thirst again. The worst thing that can happen is not to die in the waters of a flood or in a hurricane or in any other human tragedy. The worst thing that can happen is to live a long, robust life and then to forever be separated from the love and grace of the one that knit you together in your mother’s womb. Ultimately we cannot rightly cope with disasters, disease, and our own eventual deaths apart from an eternal perspective.

Death Is Not the End, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/13/18), Hank takes time in the second segment of the broadcast to say that he will be traveling to see his mother who is not long for this world. As Hank points out in his book Afterlife, death is not the end. Death, in reality is entrance into a brand-new sphere of existence. There is life after life, and that is what we will experience at some future point in time. As the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:8, we will be away from the body and at home with the Lord. But there is also life after life-after-life, and this is the very quintessence of the Christian worldview. Jesus died and was physically resurrected. And so it will be for us as well. As Jesus rose, we too, will rise. Hank answers the following questions: Where there people on Earth before Adam and Eve? Do we have any hope at all of seeing loved ones in Heaven that committed suicide? My son and I had a heated discussion on abortion, what are your thoughts on his argument?

9/11, Islam, the Power of the Gospel, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/11/18), Hank remembers the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The images of that day—September 11th, 2001—will forever be emblazoned on our collective consciousness. What’s often forgotten in the rhetoric of the day is that Islam is the only significant religious system in the history of the human race with a sociopolitical structure of laws that mandate violence against the infidel. The current narrative is that to tell the truth in this regard is tantamount to radicalizing Muslims and exacerbating hostilities that may otherwise lie dormant. So what is the solution to a disintegrating West and a resurgent Islam? It is what the prophetic pen of Os Guinness wisely designated “renaissance”—the power of the gospel however dark the times. It is time to set our minds and hearts to win back the West to our Lord again. Hank answers the following questions: What is the origin of the Pentecostal movement? Are the final verses in Mark 16 an inherent part of Scripture? Why are there so many laws listed in Exodus and what are they meant to accomplish? How should you approach someone from another denomination who refuses to have a dialogue? What are your thoughts on paranormal activity?

 Incarnation, Imago Dei, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/10/18), Hank discusses an article he wrote in the current edition of the Christian Research Journal on the incarnation, answering the question as to whether incarnation is logically incoherent. It is more than intoxicating to reflect on the reality that as Christ is incarnate in the image of humankind, so humanity in Christ is being refashioned in the image of God. Far from being reproductions of God, human beings are more correctly portrayed as reflections of God. It is liberating for believers to revel in the reality that in the consummation of all things God will completely restore the Imago Dei in fallen humanity. Had the incarnate Christ not come in the image and likeness of man, there would be no hope for humanity to be refashioned in the Imago Dei. Hank answers the following questions: How can I explain to my non-believing friends and family that God has no beginning? Who is the false prophet in Revelation? When did John write Revelation? Was it before or after the tribulation? How do I share the gospel with a loved one who is battling cancer?

Best of BAM: The Withdrawal of AB-2943, Answering the Right Question, and Joe Dallas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s special Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank interviews Joe Dallas (author of Speaking of Homosexuality: Discussing the Issues with Kindness and Clarity) on the topic of the recently withdrawn California legislative bill AB-2943, which would have placed sexual orientation change efforts in the same category as consumer fraud. Hank explains that this is a truly historic moment, in answer to much prayer. California Assembly member Evan Low decided not to send AB-2943 to the Governor, even though it had sufficient support in the Senate and Assembly, and likely the governor as well. Low had met with and listened to pastors, counselors, ministry leaders and Christians worldwide in coming to his decision to withdraw the bill. Hank also talks about the Bible Answer Man broadcast changing to a 30-minute format in order to better facilitate the spread of the broadcast—today marks the first 30-minute program. Hank and Joe answer the following question: Do you have any counsel for us in New Hampshire, which recently passed a bill similar to the one in California you are discussing?

Hollywood’s Version of Spiritual Warfare, The Covering, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank talks about a new film that was released in theaters today, The Nun. The film centers on Father Burke and Sister Irene as they investigate why a young nun has committed suicide. Father Burke combines his purportedly deep religious and historical knowledge with Sister Irene’s psychic abilities to combat the demonic evils they encounter. The Nun is yet another example of Hollywood’s biblically illiterate version of spiritual warfare, which all too often seeps into the thinking of Christians who are ill-equipped to think Christianly. The key to victory in the invisible war is not found in deliverance, but in discipleship. The covering described in scripture as the full armor of God is an impenetrable barrier against the fiery darts of the evil one. When we are clothed in the covering, we are invincible. When we are not, we are but pawns in the devil’s malevolent schemes. Hank answers the following questions: Is it non-scriptural for a woman to be a pastor of a church? Why the switch to a half-hour format? We miss your hour-long programs.

It’s Dangerous to Believe, Persecution Around the World, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank explains the theme behind the resources that CRI is offering for your support all this month—persecution. Hank talks about being in China and being astounded by what has started taking place there in the last few years. Mary Eberstadt points out in her book It’s Dangerous to Believe that an insidious new intolerance has snaked its way into classrooms, boardrooms, newsrooms, and other vital free speech venues. This new intolerance says that we must have diversity in everything—everything except arguments and ideas. We must all march in ideological lock-step—or feel the snake bite. Hank answers the following questions: Who decides what the essentials of the Christian faith are? Did Jesus at times decide not to use his divine nature when asking questions?

Joe opens up about how this bill will affect his counseling services when it is eventually enacted in the near future. Hank and Joe also discuss various LGBT topics including confusion about sexual orientation in the Church, identifying as a “Gay Christian,” gender identity, and more.

Dr. Jacobs has served as a professor at Calvin College and Seminary, Trinity College and Graduate School, and University of Kentucky. His specializations include modern philosophy and Eastern patristic thought. In addition, he is a fine arts painter and filmmaker.  New Era of the Broadcast, Increasing STD Rates, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank makes an announcement regarding the future of the Bible Answer Man broadcast. Starting next week the broadcast will be shifting from 60-minutes to 30-minutes long. This shift will allow us to expand into markets currently unserved by the current 60-minute broadcast. Hank also talks about an article from the Washington Examiner titled “U.S. STD Rates Hit Record High” by Katelyn Caralle. In the article Caralle notes that diagnoses of several sexually transmitted diseases reached 2.3 million in 2017, marking the fourth consecutive year that the STD rates have increased. Hank answers the following questions: What happens to people who have never had a chance to hear the Gospel? A coworker told me that Moses didn’t believe in God and I disagreed with them. Can you help explain that for me? Is the Shroud of Turin legitimate? What are your thoughts on birth control? Does unrepentant sin affect our salvation? Is Purgatory mentioned in the Bible? Can you clarify your answer regarding those that die without knowing about Christ?
