Best of BAM: Losing a Generation, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank confesses that he does not like losing, especially when it comes to golf. However, with regard to the Christian faith, this propensity may be virtuous. The church is losing a generation of Christians, which does not bode well for the future of Christianity. Of the 3.7 million US evangelicals between 18 29 years old, 2.6 million will leave the faith and the vast majority will not return. This sobering reality is one of the reasons why CRI is making available the best materials on apologetics, Biblical literacy, and countering the cults. Hank also answers the following questions: What are some tips for Scripture memorization? Can you explain the words of Jesus in Mark 9:49, where He says everyone will be salted with fire? Is the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost the same? If different, is it necessary to have the Holy Ghost to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Who are the sons of God in Genesis 6? I am new to reading the Bible where should I start reading? What is your opinion on the historical relevance of pseudepigraphal texts? Why is Jesus said to have come from the line of Judah instead of the line of Ephraim?

Best of BAM: Christs Coming on Clouds, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank explains Jesus reference to His coming on clouds in the Olivet Discourse. These words have caused many skeptics to doubt the divinity of Christ and call Him a false prophet because He did not return within a generation. The phrase coming on clouds however, is a common Old Testament judgment metaphor, therefore, Jesus was not referring to His second coming, but rather his coming in judgment on Jerusalem and those who rejected Him. This, of course, was fulfilled in 70 AD just as Christ predicted. Hank also answers the following questions: Why does 1 Corinthians 15:28 say that Christ will hand over the kingdom to the Father? Who are some other theologians that are non dispensational and non premillennial? Does 1 Corinthians 11:29 actually teach that we can eat and drink damnation unto ourselves by taking communion without faith, or with sin in our lives? What tools can I use to show my mother that the Bible is the inspired Word of God?

Best of BAM: A Crown That Will Last Forever, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank discusses fasting, a spiritual discipline in which we master our appetites so that we may partake of heavenly manna. While food is certainly a glorious gift from the Lord little compares with mastery over the appetites that so often seek to master us. The Apostle Paul uses the analogy of athletics in this regard, saying that we must run the race in such a way to get the prize. Wishing doesn’t win a race, it requires strict training and discipline. Hank also answers the following questions: Reading Michael the Archangels fight against Satan in Revelation 12 makes me wonde; has this battle already taken place, or is it a battle in the future? My daughter is enrolled in a private Christian school and she stole something. I replaced the item, but she was expelled from the school and will not be allowed to return. How should I handle this situation? Can you clarify Jesus words to His mother in John 2:4?

Best of BAM: What is Replacement Theology?, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank begins with a question about so called Replacement Theology what it is, and whether or not he believes the Israelites are no longer Gods chosen people. This unfortunate moniker is inaccurate because those who are accused of being replacement theologians do not believe that the church replaced Israel, but rather that the church is part of true Israel. There is only one covenant community connected by the cross. Whether Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female, if you are in Christ, then you are the seed of Abraham and an heir according to the promise. Hank also answers the following questions What is your view on the return of Christ do you believe in a pre, mid, or post tribulation rapture? My church issued a statement saying that they would not perform same sex unions, but they would welcome homosexuals into the church how should I respond to this? What is your opinion on the age of the earth? Why did God wait so long to intervene? Why has God made Himself so obscure?

Best of BAM: Why Pray If God Already Knows Our Needs?, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank addresses the question: why pray if God already knows what we need? We must remember that supplication is not the sole sum of our prayers. Prayer should be a means of pursuing a dynamic relationship with the Lover of our souls. God ordains not only the ends but also the means, and while our heavenly Father knows what we need before we ask, our supplications are an indication of our dependence upon Him and that alone should be reason enough to pray without ceasing. Hank also answers the following questions: I heard Elaine Pagels say Revelation was not a book of end time prophecy and was not written by the Apostle John can you comment on this? I was watching the film The Genesis Code, which tried to harmonize evolution and the creation account in Genesis. Was there death before Adam and Eve were created, and was Eve created after day seven? Can you clarify your comments about the Tribulation and Jesus words in this regard? Do you think the events in the book of Revelation are going to happen in the future or not?

Best of BAM: Gods Dynamic Presence, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank shares his thoughts on the power of Gods dynamic presence. If we take the doctrine of omnipresence literally and not figuratively, then God is everywhere all the time. And although His presence is with each moment of our lives, we can often resemble the proverbial fish out of water complaining of thirst. Imagining Gods presence is one thing actually sensing it is something else. Is it any wonder that the apostle Paul exhorted us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds? Perhaps if our minds were sufficiently renewed, we would cease being thirsty fish. Hank also answers the following questions When Cain was sent to the land of Nod after he killed Abel, where did all of the other people come from? How do we define legalism in the church? My church prohibits alcohol are they being legalistic? Do you support just war doctrine? What is your opinion of Christians joining the military? What is intelligent designs answer to the fossil record? Will we be raised up before or after the seven-year tribulation?

Best of BAM: QA: The Abomination of Desolation, Same Sex Marriage, and Illness | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank answers the following questions: Why did God choose Jerusalem as the first place to reveal Jesus? What about those who did not have a chance to hear about Jesus at that time? In Matthew 24, when Jesus speaks of the abomination of desolation and vultures gathered around a corpse, is He talking about idolatry and the Antichrist? I attend the Episcopal Church and our bishops have agreed to allow same sex marriage in the church; should we leave? I was recently diagnosed with stage four cancer, is God using this to bring me back to Him?

Best of BAM: QA: Objective Morality, Missing Tribes, and Fear | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank answers the following questions: Is it possible for a non Christian to have morals? If someone was raised from birth to be a killer, is their chance for salvation impossible? Why are the tribes Ephraim and Dan not listed in the book of Revelation? When I am overcome with fear, should I rebuke it or is this an ongoing process? Does John 6:44 teach that everyone is called or given to the Son by the Father? Are there other passages that suggest this?

Best of BAM: Speaking of Homosexuality with Joe Dallas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank welcomes author, speaker, and counselor Joe Dallas to discuss his latest book titled Speaking of Homosexuality: Discussing the Issues with Kindness and Clarity. According to Joe, the church is required to give a defense of the Christian claim that God has defined human sexuality in His Word and to do this clearly and compassionately. Joe tells of his struggle with homosexuality as a teenager and how the Holy Spirit convicted him of sin. He also addresses the argument that Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, the implications of marriage redefinition, and the persecution of Christians.  Best of BAM: A Culture in Free Fall, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank shares his thoughts on the cultural decline that has gone from divorce, premarital sex, and cohabitation, to the mainstreaming of homosexuality. We are no longer even allowed to ask if homosexuality is abnormal, but rather objections to it are now considered abnormal. We used to talk about gender identity disorder, but now gender is determined by feelings instead of ones biology. And those who dare to question this are crushed by the totalitarian boot of our culture, which demands our full acquiescence. Hank also answers the following questions: Do the saints mentioned in Daniel 7:21 refer to Israel? Is tithing still required in the New Testament? Did God give the people of Jericho an opportunity to repent? Is the soul created at conception or did we preexist? Do angels in heaven have a free will can they fall again like Satan and the third he took with him?

Best of BAM: Summer Reading, Fiscal Year End, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank brings up that as the summer months come along, people tend to read when they normally would not. He goes over some of the many benefits of reading in general, as well as the importance of reading Scripture. Hank also says that June is an important month, as it is the end of our fiscal year for our ministry at the Christian Research Institute, but also this month is important personally for Hank, as he informs listeners that this month he will be undergoing a stem cell transplant to treat his cancer, which is a potential cure for the disease. Hank also answers the following questions Is Jimmy Swaggart a reputable teacher? Is it okay to contribute money to him or watch his television program? I have been studying the Bible and I have encountered passages about predestination, which have caused me a lot of distress. If fatalistic determinism is true, then why should I pray for people to be saved?

Best of BAM: Personhood, The Dragons of Eden, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank discusses abortion, noting that all this talk about abortion misses the reality that a conceptus has full personhood from the moment of conception. Carl Sagan wrote about this in The Dragons of Eden, where he said that determining when a fetus becomes human would play a major role in achieving an acceptable compromise in the abortion debate. As Sagan calculated it, this transition to a human would fall between the first and second trimesters. The notion, says Hank, that a human being does not emerge during pregnancy until after the end of the first trimester is merely the figment of a fertile imagination. While an emerging embryo may not have a fully developed personality, it does have full personhood from the moment of conception. Hank also answers the following questions: The Bible says that there will be no more sea on the new earth, can you elaborate on that? Where will the Lake of Fire be? Is there a contradiction in Luke 24 about whether Jesus appeared to Simon? What are the distinguishing characteristics between Christianity and other religions? I am a former Jehovah’s Witness, can you talk about the 144,000?

Best of BAM: Expressing Faith in God, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank explains what it means to express your faith in God. Faith is ultimately grounded in the nature of God, and nothing is more crucial to a praying person than a proper perception of who God is. He is the one who wields supreme and ultimate authority. Therefore, from a biblical perspective, faith becomes a channel of living trust, an assurance that stretches from a human being to their God. Hank also answers the following questions: Are Christians allowed to eat halal food? Can you explain the Old Testament wedding ceremony?

Best of BAM: Forgive Us Our Trespasses, Lead Us Not Into Temptation, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank continues his examination into the words in the Lords Prayer, explaining what it means to pray forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Hank also answers the following questions: Is it necessary for salvation to attend a church? I heard a pastor say that Jesus Christ never carried the cross to Calvary. Is this correct? You have said that you dont believe in a pretribulational rapture Isnt Isaiah 26:20 speaking of a pretribulational rapture? Why does the Catholic Church have the books of Maccabees but Protestants do not?

Best of BAM: An Apparent Contradiction Between Gospels, and QA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:00

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank shares good news about his health and gives a follow up on a question he was asked on a previous broadcast about an apparent contradiction between the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. In Matthews Gospel, there is an account of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus going to Egypt, while Luke leaves out this account altogether and instead focuses on their return to Nazareth. But as Hank points out, this is not a contradiction but a faulty recounting of events by the caller.Hank also answers the following questions:I feel bad for not attending my parish, but I fear that I will lose what I gained in visiting other churches if I go back. Am I being selfish? How is someone going to tell the difference between the faith that you profess and the faith that my Hindu friend professes?I received a book in the mail titled The Awesome Potential of Man from the Restored Church of God. What is your opinion on it?
