I first heard this tune Acadie a Louisiane by Bruce Dáigrepont.It is the story of the Acadian people's expulsion from their land by the British, back in the 18th century.And their subsequent settlement in Louisiana.

From an album I did several years ago with the Piedmont String Sawyers. I was a pretty green fiddler at the time. Oh well...

A traditional tune from the kids' album my wife & I did this past year.

I first heard Lester McCumber play this tune in Gerry Milnes 1997 film "Fiddles, Snakes and Dog Days" (Augusta Heritage Center). Even though I knew two other versions (French Carpenter and Melvin Wine), I thought this was the neatest of them all. It's taken me many years before I finally sat with it and figured out how to play it. [AEae though probably pitched lower, maybe even GDgd, or somewhere in between]
