This tune is by Gene Goforth. I got turned on to to Him by listening to the last recording that John Hartford made called "Hamilton Ironworks"and now Gene is one of my very favorite fiddlers. His CD is called "Eminence Breakdown" on the Rounder label. I hope you enjoy this tune!
From a self-produced CD that came out in 2000. This is from a field recording of black Missouri fiddler, Bill Driver.

From a self-produce CD that came out in 2000.
Learned from Tommy Jarrell's "Joke on the Puppy" Lp. This is from a self-produced CD that came out in 2000.
Just learnt this tune, feedback on my bowing appreciated.
Played in AEAE on 1937 German trade fiddle after exactly 1 year of playing.
Every once in a while something in a lesson tune catches my fancy and in this one, it's the rhythm of B part. Sometimes it feels good to just play it straight, but it's also enjoyable to see what happens when I change it up. I start out a little bit off, in this recording but it gets better as I go along. : )
The Mighty Canon, my clerical set, with Jamie O'Brien on guitar. Recorded at FiddleFantastick Studio back in the 90's. Never made it past the demo stage 'cause Jamie moved to Tuscon, AZ!
I heard this one from some old fiddlers in Illinois. Some fiddlers don't play many 6/8 tunes but it seems that if they play any at all its this one and/or Irish Washerwoman. Chirps 10/3/12
Here's my version of this great old Midwestern tune. I believe I first heard it in sessions and then from a Bob Walters recording. Chirps 10/3/12
Not too much fiddle on this one -- basically just on the bridges between verses. Recorded myself in four tracks: Vocal and Banjo strum; Bass; Fiddle; and Three-Finger Banjo. Will have to try this one in a couple of jam groups I play music with.

St. Ann's Reel
Another from our Rattlesnake Creek Oldtime Stringband practice. This is one we would play at Rendezvous and Civil War Re enactments .
