"An Accident of Hope: The Therapy Tapes of Anne Sexton" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:07:00

Dawn Skorczewski is not only the author of: "An Accident of Hope: The Therapy Tapes of Anne Sexton" but she is also a Professor of English and Director of University Writing at Brandeis. She has extensively lectured and written on the relationship between pedagogy, psychoanalysis, and creative expression. An Accident of Hope is a fascinating study of the ways literature, creativity, and psychoanalysis intersect. Dawn connects exerpts from the tapes of Sexton's psychotherapy with contemporaneous selections from her poetry to offer a unique perspective on the artist's inner experience and creative process. The tapes provide an intimate glimpse into a psychologically tortured yet immensely creative woman during a period of emerging feminism and cultural change. By linking psychotherapy, her poetry, and cultural themes, An Accident of Hope invites a reappraisal of Anne Sexton the writer and a rare view of the evolution of psychoanalytic treatment in the United States. An Accident of Hope is an essential work for all fans of Anne Sexton and for anyone interested in studying the process of psychotherapy in its impact on the creative artist.

"Every Man Sees You Naked" - Author David Matthews | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:04:00

After years as a relationship advice guru, David M. Matthews realized that women need help unraveling the confusing behavior of their male significant-others. In his book, Every Man Sees You Naked: An Insider's Guide to How Men Think, Matthews exposes the bare bones of men's thinking. Women frequently complain that they don’t understand men. This breakdown in communication leads to resentment, hurt feelings, and often, the break-up of the relationship. Male/female miscommunication is a serious problem.  In a country where one in two marriages ends in divorce,  Matthews believes that giving women simple, frank, straightforward information on decoding men’s words and behaviors takes on even greater significance. David's wife prodded him to a write Every Man Sees You Naked. For as long as he can remember, female friends, relatives and even strangers he's met in line at Target, have solicited his advice on relationship matters. In addition to writing "Every Man Sees You Naked," Emmy Award-winning composer/writer/producer David M. Matthews has served as Musical Director for 3 years on the CBS soap, "The Young and the Restless," for which he won an Emmy for Outstanding Musical Direction & Composition. He has penned TV scripts for "The Nanny" and "Living Single," as well as staff writing and producing gigs on "For Your Love" and "Half & Half."  Living With Crohn's Disease - Alyssa Anjelica James | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

Alyssa is not only an award winning singer/songer writer & comedian, she also has been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and says she felt as if she had swallowed a nuclear bomb and her insides were blown apart. She was positive that she was being punished for something she must have done in a past life or something. Her condition fluctuated for years at times causing her to lose the ability to walk with painful ulcerations both internally and externally. While bedridden she would rely on her humor & her husband's love to survive this painful ordeal. Alyssa took the time to uncover the triggers to her illness and after much trial and error discovered that a vegan diet, by the suggestion of a close friend Congressman Dennis Kucinich, and restricting her sugar intake would change her health dramatically. She says: "Overcoming Crohn's is different for everyone - for me it's been about knowing when to say I need help. It's been about seeing my pattern and changing them, letting go of all judgements and loving myself, trying different healing modalities, coming to know what works for me and being ready to be well and independent, breathing, visualizations, music that makes me feel my aliveness & brings me back from despair, being in nature &, most importantly diet & eliminating sugar."   Learn More:  Alyssa James CALL  IN:  347 - 324 - 5661 then push 1 if you wish to speak with Alyssa

 Need A Massage?Jesse James Retherford,CPT,LMT Will Help you. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:57:00

Jesse is a Certified Personal Trainier and Licensed Massage Therapist and will teach a simple, effective, self-empowered program to help you re-connect with your body, break free from chronic pain and injury, and let go of the self defeating attitudes of judgement, doubt, and fear. Jesse is on a path of personal healing.  I have experienced pain for much of my life. Not long ago, I began to believe that my pain was a life sentence. Thankfully, I was confronted with a choice.  I could either buy into the story that said “I will always be the victim to pain,” or I could listen to the pain, do something about it, and change the story. I chose the path of change. The focus of this path is to heal myself: my mind, my body and most importantly, my heart. I have pursued this path unconsciously from my earliest memories, and over the past couple of years it has become not only a conscious effort, but the overwhelming priority of my life. When he was 18 he spent nearly 6 months in a hospital bed after he flew over the handlebars at 70+ mph, (ending his basketball career). After a week of iodine whirlpool baths to clean the dirt and asphalt out of his wounds, 5 surgeries on his right knee, he formed a very intimate relationship with physical pain and would do almost anything to feel physical pain over emotional pain anyday! By the age of 30 his body was a mess both physically and emotionally.   Learn More:  Jesse James Retherford CALL  IN:  347 - 324 - 5661 then push 1 if you wish to speak with Jesse.
