The SubGenius Hour of Slack Podcast

Good Lord man! It's a real mish-mash of shows, all Churchly, all different, all messed up. We hear some really insane Time for the Show and some Brujaja with Anna Maul, but it all starts and stops (after the requisite collages and cartoon music) with Dr. Hal and Dr. Drummond at the 23rd X-Day Drill. Collages by Lemur, Cool Hand Chris and Silas Janzen; music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Rainmakers, and a welter of strange background musics used by the spouters and yakkers of SubGenius Podcast-Land.

This one's a continuation of last week's show... might as well be the second hour of a two-hour multi-SubGenius-Show collision involving Hour of Slack, Puzzling Evidence (albeit with Dr. Hal and Dr. Drummond but no Puzzling), Time for the Show, SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin and Cool Hand Chris collages, Lemur cut-ups, the requisite Rudy Schwartz Project masterpiece, and a Captain Beefheart classic! Strangely more laid-back, real-life and personal than usual. But don't worry, that won't continue.

SHOW COLLISION! Hour of Slack vs. Puzzling Evidence Vs. Time for the Show vs. SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin... vs. the collage loners! The cast: LeMur, Cool Hand Chris, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang, Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Rev. Angry Larry, The Good Rev. Roger, Fidd Chewley, The peas, Dr. Argus Faux, Anna Maul, Dr. Brujaja, President Shroompecker.

A classic from March, 1991 (#275, on cassette) crossed with a 2003 WCSB show (#887) featuring some amazing off-the-cuff improvisations in song and word from a 2003 ESO Swamp Radio show with Chas Smith, LC Dave and Stang. The ancient cassette also happened to have great Desert Storm riffs by Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Howl, Gary G'broagfran and Papa Joe Mama. Like all that 1991 SubGenius stuff, it's perfectly timely! The war never having ended, apparently.

NOW IT CAN BE TOLD! (Again -- this is a rerun of #989 from 2005) Only THE HOUR OF SLACK dares to re-transmit Dr. Onan Canobite's illicit shortwave broadcasts regarding THE SUBGENIUS TRUTH about the so-called "red" planet. Also: detailed descriptions of sexual reproduction among lower life forms living under the rocks of Mars, live devival recordings, new collagiasts Sudasana and JustJohn, and we try to ascertain whether or not Wolfbait is serious-serious or just bulldada-serious. And: PR Gnus.

Three new rants and a new short story! - albeit all read by Stang. The short story, The War Between the Futures, is by the former SubGenius formerly known as Nenslo, from his new book of children's stories. Two rants by Rev. Dr. Uncle Onan Canobite and by The Good Rev. Roger, plus Dr. G. Gordon Gordon delivers one of his own. Also: Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Fanboy, and Rev. Feit C Taj, The SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin, Rev. Rock Roswell, Rudy Schwartz Project, PsychoSkels!

Stang suffered a head injury from a t-post driver, and he's still hallucinating, so this show is a good rerun: Puzzling Evidence Show, clips from 6X-Day, media barrage and music. Perpetrators besides Philo, Dr. Hal, Stang and Puzzling Evidence include a super-group composed of The Amino Acids, Einstein's Secret Orchestra, and The Swingin' Love Corpses, more; Media Barrage #3 "UFOs" (1982), including an early radio talk show appearance of Stang and Drummond -- and Stang's rancher brother.

We're still between radio production studios, but that didn't stop The SubGenius UberWomen of Austin (Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja) from visiting their neighborhood porn shop and reporting on it in detail. Nor can it stop Stang from calling Dr. Sinister's Radio Synaesthesia at WCSB Cleveland. Now does it affect collagists LeMur and Cool Hand Chris, or The Rudy Schwartz Project. And who'll stop The Rainmakers? Opens with a lovely discussion of lab-grown human-clone meat for purposes of cannibalism.

This episode features the unique team-up at the 21X-Day Drill of Dr. Hal Robins and Rev. Anna Maul, with Rev. Mother Miller, Rev. Fanboy and others, in an unbroken 40-minute SubGenius conversation that sweats pure Slack. It's bracketed by songs and media barrages from our dependable friends The Rudy Schwartz Project, Cool Hand Chris, and Bob Walkenhorst (this time with his daughter Una!). The X-Day conversation is a classic nerd-out, an orgy of classic bulldada movie and comic references.

Psycho Skeletons, Rudy Schwartz Project, and what we might call "Rainmakers Unplugged." Talk subjects include "Bob" Dobbs, the Church of the SubGenius, mutation, incontinent continents, Ripley's Believe It or Not, old food in the fridge, leaving the past behind, willful ignorance, and the fact that work is somebody else's idea.

Why did the Men from Planet X abandon us again? Why is the Banned list longer than the Pre-Registration list? Whence comes that amazing low frequency hum, if not the sheer disappointment of the SubGeniuses? Will there ever be amnesty for the SubGenius Kooks? Should we frop more on Mount Fropmore? Why does X-Day only work for pureblood Yetis? How well do propellor-beanies really work? Why is Stang gone? These questions and more are answered in an array of excerpts captured at the 21st X-Day Drill.

Thanks to the recordings captured by Dr. Philo Drummond, Rev. Feit C Taj, and Rev. Fanboy, I, Stang, was able to cobble together an original show that's slightly less than a week late! It's the second hour of Dr. Hal and Dr. Philo Drummond gamely making Show happen on July 4, intercut with Rev. Fanboy and Rev. Feit C Taj from that same day. A day of hope, DASHED. There's also a brand new Rudy Schwartz Project song, Cool Hand Chris collage, lots of LeMur, and an ending with The Rainmakers.

Dr. Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal supplant Rev. Stang as masters of Tarzan's Radio Station at the 21X-Day Drill! (Stang couldn't be there but he sent the portable station with Princess Wei.) This is the first hour of several to come with this all-new, all-old new crew cast. Rev. Anna Maul, for instance, is new, and 40 years of The Puzzling Evidence Show is DAMN OLD. But, by Gobbs, we still GOT IT! So do LeMur, The Rudy Schwartz Project, and The Rainmakers.

Not a normal Hour of Slack. Due to hard Fate, Rev. Stang never made it to 21X-Day. Lots of others filled in for Stang as recording engineer of babbling weirdos at a campground. Thanks to Rev.
