The SubGenius Hour of Slack Podcast

THIS EPISODE IS TOTALLY INEBRIATED! We weren't, NECESSARILY, when we assembled this show in August of the so-called year "2003," but the episode itself is WAY high. The mad audio mutator, Mr. Fernandinande LeMur, was on a real tear then, as were we of the ESO Swamp Radio Show on WCSB in Cleveland. One might be hard pressed to see how this material intersects with a sober subject like "Bob" Dobbs and the Church of the SubGenius.

On Feb. 24, "2018," the podcast called Project Archivist had SubGenius Sacred Scribe Rev. Ivan Stang on for a second time as a guest, and this episode of Hour of Slack is just a straight copy of their show, which can be found at projectarchivist.podbean.com

This is one of the best SubGenius radio show episodes ever made and it's not an Hour of Slack! It's Episode #51 of Rev. Susie the Floozie's "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse, from WREK-Atlanta in 1994. Susie is the greatest audio collage editor of all time, and this is one of her best mixes. There are hundreds of separate tracks and cuts, expertly woven together by Susie, and interspersed with her amazingly delivered rants and lots of very rare, very weird music. And all of it INSANELY DOBBS-CENTRIC!

New media barrages from Cool Hand Chris! A new "Bob" quote! A killer rant by Prof. Pressure (albeit delivered by Rev. Stang)! The Woody Woodpecker theme! A Steppenwolf cover! The horror of "Bob" Dobbs and the terrible secret of the "free Membership Pack." The Fear of the Backside, and what it really means when a person decides that everyone else is a Backside. This is like the rerunniest show we ever done run! It was assembled around 2002 like a Frankenstein's monster from our favorite clips, extracted with great care out of the vast hoard of universally favorite SubGenius albums and tapes made since 1980. This one truly preserves, like flies in amber, the old-timers of the Church at their ostensible best in the first two decades of our mighty radio outreach -- before the brain damages and rheumatism set in.

Live show with music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Psycho Skeletons, Lothar and the Hand People, and The Rainmakers; includes a rant about the Masonic Conspiracies by Stang. Then it's Soviet chimps in the suburbs; goodbad badfilm movies; strap-on toads; sensitive snowtard bloggers; farting in the sweat lodge; Young KimCarl Jung and Punk Freud; build the Wall between Heaven and Hell and make Hell pay for it; escapee angels; fossil Devil Toenails; Onan and the Fappers; rampant Rectalism.

There are SubGenius radio shows besides The Hour of Slack. Now there is a new, powerful podcast, one that erupted like a pustule out of the Thorazine Urine Podcrust comedy nontroup, called Time For The Show! The latest incarnations have been better recorded and had less cussing than earlier ones, and #102 (Jan. 8, "2018")had Stang as a guest, so for obvious reasons Stang decided to just run that insane thing pretty much as is.

Thanks to the President, we are now free to play songs like "Shithole Town" by The Rainmakers! Most of the show is a good ol' live chat with Lonesome Cowboy Dave. Songs by The Rudy Schwartz Poject and Lothar and the Hand People (!) are followd by the smell of the fish people, the interchangeability of Trump and shit, Trumphole towns, Jimmy Swaggart, Stormy Waters, British pee party tapes, The Master Game, Masonic Illuminati, the judging categories of Pyroflatulation contests.

This Hour of Slack is by necessity and choice a rerun of #411 from Sept. 1993, which was requested by a long-time listener, and when we checked it out we could hear why. It's REALLY unusual and features some excellent rants by the then-high-schooler named Reverend Gobi, who had a SubGenius show at her high school radio station. They're a real blast of fresh air from the ancient past.

Simple! The first half is the last last half hour of the last Radio Synaesthesia show of 2017 on WCSB, with Stang and Doe joining by phone with a big gang of WCSB Subs at the station to ring in whatever new year this actually is. The only non-Stang SubGenius in the Glen Rose area, Dr. Sinsomniac, does a great call-in too. The second half is part of a major new "media barrage" style collage by Cool Hand Chris aka Rev. Christian Blatter, a highlight of which is the Star Wars saga done rap-style.

This is the hoary old annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867, which was itself a condensation of some ancient year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections, going back to the show's beginning in 1985 at KNON, Dallas. Includes over 66 separate tracks/songs/bits! And no, not one bit has been changed in all these years.

This is Hour of Slack number 450, rerun from July of t"1994" when the show was only nine years old and still being produced in Dallas. We were between radio stations then, so we relied more on clips from other SubGenius radio shows like Puzzling Evidence and ESO Swamp Radio in Cleveland, and also on cassette tapes that were mailed in. It was the days before the Internet, and people spent more time on things like making tapes and books in those days, and this episode reflects all that.

A pretty crazy episode. Clearly confusing directions! Stang reads from our next publishing event, the novel EYELASH by Nikolai Kingsley. The Rainmakers, classics x 3. The history of Xists inventing Yetis, Yetis inventing humans, Why hide the edge of the Flat Earth? Where SubGeniuses come from. The incredible rabble-rousing live devival rant "WHAT IF...?" by Papa Joe Mama highlights this episode and possibly this century. Believer-bashing rock songs by The Rainmakers and The Rudy Schwartz Project do too. We hear the opening installment of the third episode of Time for the Show, a scrum-influenced prodcast from, in this case, Faux/Chewley/Peas. The 1984 version of Mark Mothersbaugh weighs in on Dobbs Sex and SubGenius philosophy. Then there's the rest of the show.
