Conversations about Mental Illness show

Conversations about Mental IllnessJoin Now to Follow

Featuring conversations about Mental Illness from WOUB-AM's weekly community talk program, Conversations From Studio B. Monthly topics include interviews with specialists on Schizophrenia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Suicide, Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder, Tourette's Syndrome, Depression, Police officer experiences and Crisis Intervention Training, Family Member experiences, Mental Health & the Courts, among others. While some of these specialists are doctors, researchers and writers, often the greatest insight comes from those who suffer from mental illnesses. Our conversations feature local and national voices of those who are coping with mental illnesses themselves, or those who care for loved ones with mental illnesses. We are on WOUB AM 1340 at 1:00-1:30PM on the fourth Sunday of every month, and, some months, we have additional programs on other days. Look for our Podcast in the iTunes Store.

Fear & Courage show

Fear & CourageJoin Now to Follow

The Fear and Courage Podcast tells the stories of military service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders. These experiences are intense and in many ways foreign to the majority of people. The show includes stories with intensity, unique experiences, personal impacts (positive and negative), and lives changed for the better or worse as a result of a career of service. By telling the impactful stories of education, training, operations, traumas, victories, career paths, and family experiences that come from service, we hope to better understand the full impact of one person's choice to serve. I hope for the personal impact on those who serve to be a factor in the national conversation about military deployment thresholds and national and state law enforcement/first responder policy and regulation.

A History Of: Hannibal and the Punic Wars show

A History Of: Hannibal and the Punic WarsJoin Now to Follow

A History Of: Hannibal and the Punic Wars is a biweekly biography of everybody's favourite Carthaginian general. We follow Hannibal throughout his campaigns as well as looking at the Punic Wars at large. This is done through a mixture of lecture style episodes as well as more relaxed Let's Talk episodes; in which I invite guests onto the show to talk about Hannibal, Rome, Carthage, the Punic Wars and the ancient world in general. Please note, I have recently upgraded my recording equipment and am updating the back-catalogue. Presently episodes 4 through 17 need to be re-recorded; so bear with me.

Tourcaster - Italy - Venice - Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari Audio Tour show

Tourcaster - Italy - Venice - Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari Audio TourJoin Now to Follow

Step back in history as you listen to enchanting tales of the Frari, the mother church of Venice’s Franciscan Order and one of the city’s most important monuments. The plain exterior belies the magnificence of the interior and the grandness of its architecture. Twelve mighty columns hold up the sky of the Frari, which is composed of beams, ribbing, keystones, webs and ogives, all harmoniously intermingling. The aisles are lined with spectacular tombs to Venice's rich and famous citizens. The grandeur of its architecture, the magnificent monuments along the walls, the stained-glass windows shining above, seem to move ones eye towards a single point, “the Assumption” by Titian, the most precious of all of the Frari’s masterpieces. Titian is buried here in a rather simple tomb designed by Canova. The Frari contains many other masterpieces by some of the greatest Venetian Renaissance artists. Throw down your guidebook and venture off to see and hear the stories behind this resplendent church, the lives of the great Italians buried here, and the illustrious Renaissance artists who constructed this unique edifice. This is track one of a multi-track tour, to download the complete tour, visit www.tourcaster.com.
