Daniel and Mark discuss the New England Journal of Medicine’s findings in a study that claimed dietary supplements are responsible for approximately 23,000 ER visits from 2004 to 2013. Today challenged the methodology and findings of a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine that claimed dietary supplements are responsible for approximately 23,000 hospital visits each year. The Study, “Emergency Department Visits for Adverse Events Related to Dietary Supplements” based its findings on data from 63 emergency departments from 2004 through 2013 instead of relying on the official Food and Drug Administration’s Serious Adverse Event Reporting database for dietary supplements. Mark and Dr. Fabricant also talk about the Oregon Attorney General’s lawsuit against GNC.
