We welcome back Dalton Suter to the podcast for a great conversation all about FFVII Remake. As I just completed the game, Dalton will ask some questions this time as he is currently playing through the original. We try and keep it spoiler free as possible but some things can't be avoided. We then switch gears and give our top picks for games that need this level of remake treatment. Plus a few sacred gems that don't! At a little under 2 hours its our longest, and possibly best podcast yet. Sit back and listen to two nerds talk about JRPG's and enjoy. Leave us a review on Apple or your favorite listening place.  JRPG Report Episode 108 - FFVII Remake Reactions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:36:54

It's finally here. After 23 years and nearly 7 years since it's announcement, the world is now playing Final Fantasy VII Remake. Does it live up to the hype? I can only answer with my thoughts after almost 6 hours of playing it. The news of the week (not much this podcast) starts things off. Then after the break I'll give my reactions and impressions of the game. I hope you all are enjoying it as well. Thanks for listening! Leave us a review on Apple or your favorite listening place.  JRPG Report Sunday Special Episode 12 - Trails of the Beginning: Everything We Know So Far | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:35:16

*Potential Spoilers in this podcast* This has been a hard game to report on. I wanted to devote a Sunday Special to it because of the potential spoilers involved. Taking place after the events of Cold Steel IV, any research into this game ruins key outcomes of that series. So I've taken the brunt of it and tried to gather all info without ruining anything. You'll hear the words after the events of Cold Steel IV or I can't say this part a lot. But I feel I have a much better understanding of the game now, and hope you will too after listening. As always thanks for tuning in each week.  Leave us a review on Apple or your favorite listening place.  JRPG Report Episode 107 - Falcom's Plans in the West | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:42:35

The huge worldwide release of Final Fantasy VII Remake is a mere 2 days away. But all is not well with delivery backups from Amazon. I'll let loose a little steam as my copy has been delayed until April 14. Square Enix did release a final trailer for the game (it shows a lot!) as well as some images in a final media dump. We'll have much more on the game with my initial impressions in next week's podcast. The biggest news I wanted to share came from a recent interview with Falcom President Kondo. He talked about the growth of the series, the newest game Hajimari no Kiseki, and the company's new fans in the west. News about Y's IX was also in there along with localization of the PS4's Crossbell games. Plus more. Thanks so much for listening this week and every week.  Leave us a review on Apple or your favorite listening place.  JRPG Report Sunday Special Episode 11 - A Royal Chat with Dalton about Persona 5 Royal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:39:52

Another Sunday is here and it's completely different again. After looking back at the Persona series last week, we discuss all the changes in Persona 5 Royal. Having played it for a few days now, I invite Dalton Bigshoots a long listener of the podcast and friend, to let us know what he has seen. I played it for about 2 hours so I have a few thoughts too. I hope you enjoy this fun conversation with two Persona and JRPG nerds.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jrpgreport/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jrpgreport/support

JRPG Report Episode 106 - Trails of Cold Steel IV Finally Gets a Release Date in the West | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:48:23

Please don't be an April Fool's joke! We learned today on April 1 that Trails of Cold Steel IV will launch in the west this Fall 2020. The Switch and PC version in 2021. I can hardly contain my excitement as we've been waiting a long time on this announcement. In a huge JRPG week that saw the release of Persona 5 Royal, we had tons big announcements. Xenoblade Chronicles got a May 29 release date during the latest Nintendo Direct. I'm eagerly awaiting that game as well with my love of XC2 knowing no bounds. And I was wrong in Episode 105. It was the end of Mary Skelter, not Neptunia. I'll tell you about Mary Skelter Finale as well as many more stories in one of our best podcasts yet!  JRPG Report Sunday Special Episode 10 - History of Persona | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:48:27

I've pulled a few articles and the Persona wiki page to come up with a history of the JRPG series. With Persona 5 Royal set to release in a few days it seemed like the perfect time. I hope you enjoy this look back at the series, it's humble beginnings, and where it's headed. Thanks for listening. Leave us a review on Apple or your favorite listening place.  JRPG Report Episode 105 - The End of Neptunia? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:23

No big lead stories this week. I finish up my thoughts on the Trials of Mana demo and cover a range of games from Genshin Impact to Sword Art Online to Sakura Wars. Plus a few more too. But the most surprising news may come on March 28 in a few days. Complile Heart's President has hinted at the ending of its "popular numbered series" to coincide with the end of Dengeki Playstation magazine in Japan. Is this the end of Neptunia? I think not as I talk about it in the podcast. You'll have to tune in next week for more info! Leave us a review on Apple or your favorite listening place.
