MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- A high school senior in Marshfield had an idea of recording a bluegrass album, but one idea led to another and now the queen of bluegrass music, Rhonda Vincent, is in Marshfield to perform with him. Our photojournalist Tim Liemkuhler was there and made this podcast from interviews and rehearsals before the show.
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Jenifer Abreu talked to Dr. John Trombold, a colorectal surgeon at CoxHealth about the signs, symptoms, screenings, and treatments for colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed type cancer in the U.S. and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined. The American Cancer Society estimates 101,420 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019, and 44,180 will be diagnosed with rectal cancer. And 51,020 will die from the disease. The good news is screenings can catch it early and it is treatable.

The Hemp plant, a member of cannabis family, was a very important crop going back for centuries and civilizations. Fabrics, ropes, and many other items were produced from hemp. From the time of the earliest colonies in America until the 1930s, hemp was an important crop for the American farmer, especially in Kentucky and Missouri. Hemp was deemed illegal in 1937 along with marijuana but with the passage of the most recent Farm Bill in December 2018, hemp farming is back.
