Summary: The Hemp plant, a member of cannabis family, was a very important crop going back for centuries and civilizations. Fabrics, ropes, and many other items were produced from hemp. From the time of the earliest colonies in America until the 1930s, hemp was an important crop for the American farmer, especially in Kentucky and Missouri. Hemp was deemed illegal in 1937 along with marijuana but with the passage of the most recent Farm Bill in December 2018, hemp farming is back.
