Chance the cardboard box experiences adventures in time. This time the kids bring him back to the ice age. What will they discover this time? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Adventures in Time” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 11:13 Adventures in Time Excerpt: Rain tip-tapped away on the roof, filling the cozy house with a soothing rhythm. The little kitty purred, grateful for the warm hug of Chance the cardboard box. Chance enjoyed the peaceful, serene moment. A low rumble filled the room. The little kitty sat up, ears scanning for another clue. The thunder rumbled again. The little kitty sprang out of the box and scampered down the hall. Chance smiled, knowing that it was time for another adventure.  He heard the boy say, “It’s raining hard today. I don’t know if we should go out exploring.” The cardboard box wilted, feeling disappointed. Chance really wanted an adventure today. The girl smiled at her brother and said. “We don’t have to go out to explore.” Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.  687. Flying Frogs: a meditation and bedtime story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:09

Fernando Frog wants to learn something that peeper frogs don’t normally do — he wants to fly how to fly! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 4:27 Flying Frogs Excerpt: It was a calm late morning on Ahway Island.  The sun was rising high in the sky, warming all the plants and animals that lived in the forest.  Fernando Frog had just finished singing one of his favorite songs and was now resting on a log on the edge of the water of the pond where he lived.  Fernando stretched out his back legs as he watched the reflection of the sun on the pond’s surface. The glittering light made Fernando feel grateful to live in such a beautiful forest. Suddenly, Fernando heard a rustling noise in the trees nearby.  Fernando looked to see where the noise was coming from.  In the branches of the trees, he saw a little baby bird with fluffy brown wings and a little bit of red on its chest.   The little bird sprang from one branch to another, flapping his wings with determination. Fernando decided to hop closer to the tree to greet the baby bird. “Hello, up there!” Fernando called. Today’s Meditation: Picture floating in the safe and comforting waters of a tranquil pool.  685. Fearless Flying: a calming meditation and kid’s story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:32

Geoffrey Robin is old enough to learn to fly! How will his first day of practice go? Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:25 Fearless Flying Excerpt: It was a breezy morning on Ahway Island. Geoffrey Robin was woken up by the warm sun’s rays. It had been two weeks since Geoffrey had hatched. Since hatching, Geoffrey had stayed in his nest high up in the trees with his mother, Gerry Robin, who kept Geoffrey warm while his feathers grew in. On this windy morning, Gerry was still curled up next to Geoffrey, making sure he stayed cozy and protected while he slept. Geoffrey could feel the warmth of his mom’s feathers next to him. Being wrapped in his mother’s wings made Geoffrey feel very safe. Geoffrey decided to look at his own wings. They were already covered in soft grey feathers that hadn’t been there just days ago, and when he looked down at his chest, he even saw the beginnings of a few orange feathers!  315. Five Little Fish: a children’s story and meditation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:44

Five little fish explore the sea, just outside their colorful coral home. What will they find? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Five Little Fish” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 9:08 Five Little Fish Excerpt: Sunshine shimmered down through the water. The gently flickering light wakened the sea animals. Five little fish yawned and stretched their fins. The sunlight hugged them and warmly encouraged the little fish to leave their coral beds. Fish one gracefully swam past fish two. Fish two joined fish one and they weaved past each other, back and forth, back and forth. As the fish swam past fish three, fish three flipped and fish four zipped to join the group. Finally, fish five twirled around all of them. The five fish giggled and smiled. They were ready to start their day! The five little fish decided to go explore away from their colorful coral beds. Fish one led the way through a maze of softly swaying sea plants. The five little fish emerged from the plants and admired the wide-open sea ahead of them. A shadow floated over the five little fish. Curious to see what was blocking the sun, the five little fish looked up. The shadow seemed to use four flippers to effortlessly flow through the water. Fish two decided to get a closer look and zipped up towards the gentle animal. Immediately, fish two recognized the animal and then zipped back to share the discovery with the others. “It’s a sea turtle! Let’s go play!” Fish two said. In a flash all the fish happily swam up towards the turtle. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.  683. Peanut Butter Power: a story and guided relaxation for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:54

Katie and Tom have to clean up their school project, so Tom suggests they listen to his favorite podcast while they're cleaning up! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 3:58 Today's story is a very special "crossover" episode with our friends from the Who Smarted? podcast! We think many of our Ahway Islanders will enjoy this fun and educational show. Peanut Butter Power Excerpt: On a lazy Sunday afternoon on Ahway Island, Katie Bowski and her good friend Tom Davis worked carefully at the kitchen table in Katie’s home. They were finishing up their school project, a diorama of the Ahway Island library.  Katie was carefully creating the columns in front of the library with rolled paper, while Tom made dozens of miniature books to go on the tiny book shelves he had created. As Katie crafted her final column, she thought about her favorite subject, science, and how understanding science is so important to understand how the world works: from how food is produced, to how living things thrive, to how the planet works, to how the whole universe fits together. Upon finishing the project, the kids stepped back to reflect on their work, examining their replica of the library carefully. “I really like how you made those columns” Tom complimented Katie.  314. Dragon’s New Toy: an original short story for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:19

Dragon finds a beautiful rose garden and lays down to rest, snuggling with a cozy blanket. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Dragon's New Toy” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 8:59 Dragon's New Toy Excerpt: Sunshine slowly flowed through the entrance of the dragon’s cave. As the sunlight filled the cave, Dragon pulled the soft blanket over its eyes in one last attempt to sleep a little more. The happy yellow blanket was so soft Dragon understood why the kids carried it around. Before long even the blanket couldn’t keep the sun out of the dragon’s eyes.  It was time to get up. So, Dragon stretched and sat up. Giving the blanket a hug, Dragon decided to go out for a walk through the forest.   It was a lovely day for a walk.  The sun was shining bright.  Dragon stopped for a moment to listen to the birds singing their favorite melodies. In the distance Dragon could hear frogs croaking and toads trilling. Dragon stopped for a moment to picture the frogs and toads playing near the pond. Then Dragon ducked under the branches of a large oak tree, walking through a small opening. The enchanted forest was stunning today. Sunlight filtered softly through the leaves of the trees, speckling the forest floor with light. The leaves rustled as the forest’s breeze danced around them. Dragon took a deep breath, in and out and noticed a light fragrance in the air.  Looking up, Dragon noticed blooms on the locust trees.  Dragon smiled and took another deep breath in and out, enjoying the smell of the flowering black locust trees. Today’s Meditation: Feel your muscles relax as you check in with your body from head to toe.  681 Tunnel Trouble: a mindful story and relaxation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:21

Bertie Bat helps Morgan Mole find their missing tunnel. The two friends learn that their differences are what makes them both amazing and helpful! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 4:05 Tunnel Trouble Excerpt: It was a breezy evening on Ahway Island.  The sun had set, and the stars were just beginning to twinkle. Bertie Bat flew around the edge of the forest, feeling the cool wind under his wings. Bertie liked to practice his flying tricks on breezy nights. It was so much fun darting through the night sky and flitting between the branches of the trees. Some nights, Bertie would find himself in a new, exciting place where adventure waited for him. But tonight, Bertie wanted to practice flying near his cave. Even though it was fun to go somewhere new sometimes, Bertie knew that home could be just as exciting. As Bertie flew around, he noticed his neighbor Bailey Bat quietly watching him practice his tricks. Bailey’s eyes were fixed on Bertie as he practiced one of his most difficult stunts, a triple loop-de-loop. Bertie made three big circles in the sky: One, two, three! When he finished his last circle, he heard Bailey chittering in excitement. “That was excellent, Bertie!” called Bailey. Today’s Meditation: Love flows through you in this meditation as you imagine a baby fawn and mama deer.  313. Island Sign: a bedtime story with guided meditation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:28

Anora and Alice go to the Ahway Island Forest to switch the old island sign with their brand new one to welcome visitors. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Island Sign” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 10:22 Island Sign Excerpt: Anora hummed her favorite melody as she skipped into the hallway and scooped up her tennis shoes. Anora slipped the shoes onto her feet. As she concentrated on tying the laces, she grew quiet. Anora tugged her laces tightly and they slipped right back apart. She sighed and took a deep dragon breath in and out. Feeling confident, Anora took the laces in her hands, again, and pictured each step. With that vision fresh in her mind Anora tried again. She tugged at the laces to tighten them. This time they stayed tight! Anora moved on to her other shoe. She reminded herself that she knew how to tie her shoes. Anora took the laces in her hands and now both shoes were tied. Anora hopped up and began to dance and sing. Her dad peaked around the corner to see what the celebration was about. “I tied my shoes by myself!” Anora sang as she gave him a great big hug.   “That’s great! Where are you going?” he asked as he hugged his proud daughter.   “I’m going to Alice’s house. We’re going to put our new Island sign up today. We hope people will see our sign and know they can relax here.” Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.  679 Mowing Around: a soothing story and children’s meditation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:47

Moira Mower is excited to help get the Ahway Island baseball field mowed...but she has to do things a little differently than usual. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:35 Mowing Around Excerpt: Moira Mower yawned. The bright green riding lawn mower stretched out her wheels into the cozy concrete floor of the storage shed below her. Hopefully today would be a busy day for the Moira! It was Moira’s job to keep the Ahway Island public spaces freshly mowed during the warmer seasons. She mowed the grass in the parks and playgrounds, the lawns in front of the library and other public buildings, and even the grass along some roadways. Moira enjoyed all of these tasks, but her favorite job of all was mowing the Ahway Island baseball field. She knew how much some people enjoyed playing baseball and she liked feeling that she was a part of making baseball fun for people. Plus, it was both easy and fun to mow such a huge, open swath of fresh, green grass. It gave her and her rider lots of opportunity to mow neat, straight lines. There were no rocks or bumps or other interruptions to the beautiful expanse of bright green. Moira and her driver could easily see where they had been and where they still needed to go. Anora takes her stuffed toy bunny Blanka on a hike…and Blanka has an unexpected adventure! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:58 Lost and Found Excerpt: A bright beam of morning sunlight crept through a gap in the curtains of Anora’s bedroom. As the cheery sunbeam peeked around the fabric of the curtains, light fell on the little bed, warming both Anora and her stuffed toy bunny, Blanka. The little toy woke up right away, but it took a few minutes before the sunbeam’s brightness began to wake up the little girl. But finally, Anora started to wake up. She yawned (yawn). Blanka smiled to herself. She knew that it was difficult to get Anora out of bed sometimes. Anora was always so active all day long that she slept very deeply. But eventually, Anora stretched, slowly coming fully awake. And suddenly, the little girl’s eyes popped open. She was wide awake now and had remembered what today was.  311. Double Dump Trucks: a calming bedtime and nap time story for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:04

Danny Dump Truck proudly works on his own, but today's task will require some help. Will Danny recognize the value of teamwork with double dump trucks? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Double Dump Trucks” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 10:56 Double Dump Trucks Excerpt: Danny the Dump truck awoke. His axels and tires squeaked as Danny reached out with a deep good morning stretch. The little dump truck slowly opened his eyes and smiled. Danny wondered what the crew would do today. They had finished their last project, so he guessed that today would be something new. With a slight rattle the garage door rolled up, section by section. Danny peered out into the construction yard. Peaceful quiet greeted him. No one was there yet. The little dump truck’s grill flashed a large grin. He loved being the first out. Danny’s engine rumbled on, and the little dump truck rolled out of his garage. He watched eagerly to see which vehicle would be the first to join him in the yard.   Danny didn’t have to wait very long. Ellie the excavator’s garage door slowly rolled up, revealing the happy excavator. However, that was the only door that opened. Danny’s brow furrowed as he wondered why Ronald the Roller and Dizzy the Concrete mixer remained in their garages. Ellie noticed the little dump truck’s expression and said, “It’s ok Danny. Sometimes we have different schedules. I’m sure we’ll see them on another project.” Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with warmth and love as you send your loving energy to the world. Percy Pool and Callie Kim are having a pool party. Percy doesn't like getting dirty...but he meets a new friend who helps him stay a little cleaner! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:35 Pool Party Excerpt: It was a hot, sunny day on Ahway Island. The sun was shining brightly down on the green trees as birds flew high in the sky. It was the perfect day to get together with good friends and enjoy the beautiful weather. Callie Kim was happily helping her dad blow up her brand-new inflatable pool! The pool was pink with pretty blue and yellow designs on it, featuring seagulls, fish, and green turtles. “Dad,” said Callie, “I think this pool is named Percy.” Jun, Callie’s dad, smiled and said, “Okay, Callie. Percy it is!” Callie poked Percy’s puffy outside and giggled as it bounced back. Then Callie watched her dad fill the pool with water from the garden hose. Callie’s friends Anora and Liam were going to come over so they could have a backyard pool party together. Callie was very excited to have her first pool party with her friends on Ahway Island.  310. Octopus Adventure: a mindful children’s tale | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:38

Odette Octopus explores her corner of the sea. What will she find? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Octopus Adventure” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 7:32 Octopus Adventure Excerpt: Gentle waves rolled across the surface of the sea. The sun slowly descended, darkening the sky and water. Both sea and sky became a deep blue, with the sea reflecting the twinkling stars and glowing moon back to the sky. From under her rock, Odette the Octopus watched the light slowly fade. She began to glow purple with excitement. Odette smiled and stretched her arms pulling herself out from under the rock. The little octopus was ready for some exploring.   Odette opened her arms wide and gently floated, like a parachute, on the sea current. The sea gently moved the delicate octopus out away from her home. Odette smiled, ready for whatever adventure tonight might bring. As the little octopus drifted down to the soft sandy floor of the sea, she noticed the other nighttime sea creatures. The sea stars glowed a soft orange.  Little fish reflected the light from the moon and stars off of their yellow stripes. Odette’s world was filled with fantastic creatures lighting up the ocean. Today’s Meditation: Today, enjoy the feeling of your body relaxing into the warm sand on a sunny beach. Looking for stories that emphasize acceptance, understanding, and empathy?
