Jeff was always overweight as a child and at the age of 17 he weighed 345 lbs. In 1997, Jeff was diagnosed with severe lumbar spinal stenosis. By 2004, Jeff was on his third back surgery: Laminectomy and fusion of the lower (lumbar) back in 1997, cervical neck fusion in May of 2001, laminectomy and fusion of the mid back area in 2004.
