Welcome to Christian author, Robin Jones Gunn!   Merry Christmas everybody!  One week from today, we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior!  Well, to be honest, I hope you’re already in full celebration mode. We are definitely all decked out at our house.  My 16 year old daughter had a coulee of friends over last week to make and decorate gingerbread cookies, and it was SUCH a production.  Man, I couldn’t believe all the time that went in to it. We had a great time, though and it really put us in the Christmas Spirit.  You know what else puts me in the Christmas Spirit?  Hallmark movies…am I right?   Today on the show, I’m chatting with my new friend Robin Jones Gunn.  She’s the author of a series of books we’ll refer to as the Father Christmas Series.  This series is so special, because not only does Robin tell delightful stories, but they have a strong Christian theme to them.  These movies have been made into a hallmark Christmas trilogy!  It was a blast to talk to her about it.  We don’t just talk about writing and Christmas books, Robin shares from her heart about how the words of the prophet Jeremiah propelled her to stay focused on her writing goals, and how the words of Mary should challenge us as we surrender to what God has planned for our lives.  This is such an inspiring episode, you’ll be so glad you tuned in.  I know you’re busy shopping or running errands, so thank you for taking time to check out this week’s episode.   I wanted to let you know I have a special bonus episode airing tomorrow.  My friend Amberly Deavors is coming on for a short episode to discuss some issues around body image and the holidays.  I hope that didn’t just deflate your balloon.  Actually, I hope it will give you a little inspiration as you go into the New Year.  I’ve really been working on my health this past fall, and I’ve lost 25lbs.  I have felt so much better this holiday season!  But I’m not at my goal yet.  Amberly and I will be working together in the new year to help me meet my weight-loss goals, and I want to invite you to join me.  Tune in tomorrow to hear all about that. Welcome friends and Happy Thanksgiving week!  I hope you’ re all making your grocery lists and getting decorations together for those you’ll be serving and entertaining this week.  I absolutely love Thanksgiving.  Taking time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for is the key to happiness, I think.  Reach out to me on social media and let me know what you’re doing with your families for Thanksgiving.  I’d love to hear from you! I’m happy to welcome to the show, Kristyn Getty.  For more info on Kristyn, scroll down: The Getty Kids Hymnal Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of music today as preeminent modern hymn writers. In re-inventing the traditional hymn form, they have created a catalogue of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung the world over. “In Christ Alone” (penned by Keith and long-time writing partner, Stuart Townend) holds the #1 position of most-frequently-sung in UK churches for the past 9 consecutive years. It was voted the #2 best-loved hymn of all time in the UK according to a BBC Songs of Praise national survey and among the top 5 hymns of all time by the UK Hymns Society. According to CCLI, it is estimated that 40 to 50 million people sing “In Christ Alone” in church services each year— which does not include the unique reach the catalog has into traditional and classical contexts, as well as the popularity of the song throughout Asia. The Gettys’ hymns are used increasingly both in contemporary and traditional circles, being included in most modern hymnbooks (with a number of these now listing “Getty” as the most-featured composers), while in the more contemporary church, more than 60 of their songs are featured on top 2,000 CCLI charts between the UK and USA. In addition to their Christmas show, the Gettys tour internationally, visiting venues as diverse as the Ryman Auditorium, Belfast’s Waterfront Hall, The Pentagon, and Royal Albert Hall, with performances for George W.
