Episode 84: Better Than Color Blind with Dorena Williamson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:11

Happy chatologie day everybody!  We are back this week with a really exciting episode.  My guest today is Dorena Williamson.  Dorena is a pastor’s wife serving a multicultural church in the civil-war rich city of Nashville, TN.  Dorena is passionate about building bridges across racial backgrounds and friends, this is a conversation I’ve been excited to have for a while.  I’m a white girl who grew up in Mississippi.  I spent all of my growing up years surrounded by subtle and not-so subtle racism.  As an Enneagram 8, I’ve always had a soft-spot for marginalized people, but y’all, let’s be honest…I’m in a pretty comfortable spot.  I’ve never really known what I can or even should do to play a part in reconciling the divide.  So you know what I did…I asked my new friend Dorena to help me.  I simply asked her, what can I do, as a white woman to improve things for my black brothers and sisters.  oh- also, I recorded the conversation for you.  February is black history month, and I think this is a great way to honor that and hopefully, begin some conversations that matter.  Welcome to chatologie friends… * Kindled podcast featuring Heather MacFadyen as a guest* White Awake by Daniel Hill* Beyond Color Blind- Sarah Shin* The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby* The Myth of Equality by Ken Wytsma
