Victorian Chamber Metal Duo Valentine Wolfe Visits Madame Perry's Salon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:10:00

Valentine Wolfe is the combined effort of the Lady Sarah Black and Braxton Ballew.Having dubbed their music "Victorian Chamber metal", the duo have synthesized a love of metal, classical and industrial, infusing them with a Victorian sensibility that evokes the likes of Bram Stoker and Edgar Allan Poe. The ethereal soprano vocals of Sarah Black--which call to mind Sarah Brightman, Dianne van Giersbergen of Xandria and Tarja Turunen--are buttressed by the thunderous growl of Braxton's electric upright bass, and the two coalesce over pounding rock and electronic grooves punctuated by a maelstrom of synthesizers, keyboards, samples and sound design. In addition to their gothic metal stylings, their post-graduate backgrounds in music (Sarah has an MM in Composition, and Braxton a DMA in Double Bass) has afforded them multiple opportunities to broaden their musical horizons in recent years, having been contracted to lend their unique sound to theatre productions; composing and performing the scores for Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, The Tempest (Warehouse Theater), The Winter’s Tale (Furman University), and Twelfth Night (The Distracted Globe), the voice of The Angel in the Warehouse Theater's production of Angels in America, silent films and short horror films (most notably, Your Cold Black Heart).  Theme music for Madame Perry's Salon composed and performed by Denton Perry.  THE TRANSFORMATIONAL MAGIC OF SURPRISE in Madame Perry's Salon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:04:00

THE TRANSFORMATIONAL MAGIC OF SURPRISE With poet·mystic·guide Deirdre Hade and William Arntz, creator of “What the BLEEP do We Know!?” Surprise is inherent in the Path to Enlightenment. After all, awakening always comes as a surprise. When Gautama, before he was Buddha, decided to say “%^&* it!” and have a wee nip of milk under the Bodhi Tree, the last thing he expected (for he had tried everything) was enlightenment. Surprise! When Eckhart Tolle decided to end his miserable life because “he couldn’t stand himself” and then wondered, “Who is it that can’t stand who?” he was not expecting an awakening so profound that it would take two years of living on park benches to integrate what happened. Surprise! And anyone and everyone can be surprised because everyone is just who they are, and a surprise is always not that. It is, by definition, a moment of “not me.” Since moving from “who I am” to “whatever I’m going to be” is transformation, it’s easy to see that this always involves surprise.  What is the magic of surprise? The ‘You’ before is different from the ‘You’ afterwards.Poet·mystic·guide Deirdre Hade and William Arntz, creator of “What the BLEEP do We Know!?  Denny Tedesco On The Wrecking Crew Doc Visits Madame Perry's Salon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:03:00

The son of guitarist Tommy Tedesco pays tribute to his late father and a core group of studio musicians who played on some of the biggest hits of the 1960s and '70s, including "California Girls" and "Mrs. Robinson. The Wrecking Crew was a group of studio musicians in Los Angeles in the 1960s who played on hits for the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, Jan & Dean, The Monkees, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Mamas and Papas, Tijuana Brass, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Rivers and were Phil Spector's Wall of Sound. The amount of work that they were involved in was tremendous.  They were also involved in groups that I like to call the Milli Vanillis of the day. A producer would get the guys in and lay down some instrumental tracks. If it became a hit, they would record an album and put a group together to go on the road. This happened many times with groups like the Marketts, Routers, and T-Bones. The next day they would do the same thing and call it another name. Same musicians, but different group name.
