Though Richard beefs about the high price of groceries, its the hot weather that plays a part in the world of crime. Mr Gibson is an old man who is tired of his blackmailers, and when he confronts them a fight ensues. Black mail is the least of their problems when old man Gibson ends up dead after the struggle. Elsewhere, Hellen Asher phones her favorite detective boyfriend to arrange for a date. Word of the corpse comes across the desk of Richard Diamond, and he kjoins the cops on the scene. The main witness, a confused school teacher provides the comic relief as clues send Richard on the trail of the killers. Mr Gibson is identified, and we learn some of his past from his family, at the same time they learn of his murder. Connections to a tawdry affair are easily made. There’s not much mystery to the show, just a matter of how Richard juggles the comic relief, and putting facts together to arrive at the end that we all know he’ll find. Relaxing with Hellen, he has to sing for his supper.

A small, leprichan of a man, and valet to the Exxon family enters to take Sam on his next case. Mr Figg delivers Sam to the distraught Hillary Exxon. Gunshots have the household in disarray. The old man has plenty of enemies, and he tells Sam as much as he can on the confusing ordeal. Sam has his hands full as he meets the houseful of suspects. Might it be the nurse, the neighbor, or any number of the relatives? Before Sam has time to wonder, another murder attempt is made. The killer has fled, and Sam trails him to the house next door. Schemes of blackmail emerge. Back at the Exxon mansion, more intruders terrorize the family. Even with Sam on guard, things have a way of going bump in the night. Is there secrets the old man will carry to his grave? Maybe so, but there’s still a mystery for Sam to solve. Will Effie get her robotic reminder to work for her?

Sometimes during the routine day of a police precinct of uniformed officers, there’s no story with a beginning, middle, or closure. Sometimes it’s just a long chain of events. Join Captain Canelli as he takes us on a routine inspection for cleanliness, and other administrative duties at police headquarters. A priest who wants to join the Navy as a chaplain. stops in to have his fingerprints taken and registered. A Juvenile delinquent is picked up for robbery. The captain heads out to the scene of a car crash to comfort a woman who is in shock, and unaware of the death of the other person involved. Back in the precinct, a nervous, and paranoid man demands police protection. Is there really somebody threatening his life? Should the police turn the matter over to the FBI? The phone keepds ringing, and the jobs keep coming in for the cops in their day of keeping the peace in the big city.

It all starts with a phone call to the precinct desk, and a case is followed through the course of it’s investigation and resolution. Captain Canelli presents the scene as his uniformed police officers respond to a false fire alarm. His voiceover message shares statistics on hazards to firemen when alarms are misused. What would cause a person to purposely make a false alarm? Listen to learn this man’s story, and about his problem with shooting up on drugs. Besides getting the story, Canelli has to deal with the internal duties of his office. He deals with shift changes, coordinating with detectives, and the like. The druggie isn’t going to reveal his sources, so the police follow up on the clues they have at hand. A patrol of the neighborhood is set up, searches of the man’s apartment, and talking to people in the area. More of the human plight of life as a drug addict is drawn out, and the twisted logic in how those in that scene help each other out. Even when they might want to kick the habit, sometimes the habit kicks them.

On a horse drawn cab ride, Philo Vance has a confusing conversation with a forgetful cabbie. There's something awful funny going on between an old couple in the park. What can Vance do to help>? Who is Jason, and why will he be killed if Vance tries to help? Elsewhere, Jason is being coerced by thugs to open his bosses safe. Meeting with District Attorney Markham, Vance has his casual game night interupted by murder. Billy and Jane were in the house when the butler let in some men. They don't know who they were, but they killed Jane's uncle. Is there still secrets for Vance to learn about Jason and Mary? Arriving at the home of Harry Woods, the fleeing man has to be shot before he can be arrested. Vance doesn't believe that Harry is their man, and clues keep coming in when Jane phones. Gathering all the players together, Vance puts an end to the case.

A phone call sets the stage as the uniformed cops of the 21st Precinct take us on a case from start to finish. Captain Canelli is faced with a manpower shortage as he works to cover his caseload. Co-worker, and friend, Sgt Burns is called in for Captain Canelli to deliver bad news. Sgt Burns teenage son who is in the Army, has been killed. Telling the news is never easy, and even more difficult when it comes to someone you know. Canelli does what he can to give room for his friend to grieve. Getting down to business, the cops keep watch for their suspect, and close the loose ends on their case. It won't take long to confront the distraught teen who threatens to jump out his window. Why does he want to jump? Can the cops talk sense to the young man? Sgt Burns is on the scene, and talking the teen out of his situation helps him work through his personal loss.

In the hallway of a hotel, a man knocks desperately at a door. A bellboy arrives to deliver some ice water. They enter to find the body of the woman inside. The unusual case gets the attention of Mr Keen. One puzzling factor is the string of pearls in the hand of the dead woman. Was she killed over the jewlery? She is said to have not owned anything expensive, and the pearls are of a low grade, not worth much. First up, Mr Keen talks to the man who found her, the jewel appraiser who was called to her room, and was beating on her door. Why would an appraiser be called if she didn't own any fancy jewels? A suspicious character emerges, the brother in law of the dead woman. The brother, and the lady he is sharing the room in the hotel with certainly seem to be some shady characters. How convenient, but did he really do it? . Suddenly, all the suspicious characters in the story are in the hotel room. Besides the couple, there's the bellboy, and a man who was a customer in the jewelry store. Mike tracks down one final clue about the will that was left by the dead woman's dead husband. The case isn't finished, but Mr Keen has a handle on the solution, and is about to blow the lid off. Listen for all the details,and see if you have it figured out as well.

A phone call about a dog bite comes into the Precinct, and we follow another case from start to finish as it unfolds under the watchful eye of Captain Canelli. The cops are on the job to look into the matter of the possibly vicious dog. Captain Canelli assures the father of the dog bite victim that measures are being taken. In voiceover, Frank Canelli describes the chain of events as they unfold. Is rabies going to be a problem? Modern science, and laws governing animal licensing have gone far to erradicate the problem, but sometimes cases can fall through the cracks. Is that the case in today's story? Frank Canelli visits the dog owner to clarify the situation. A simple case grows dramatic, but should the cops make an emergency matter out of it, or can this be handled with more tact?

As they drive near a cemetary, Ann Williams is a little frightened when Casey has car trouble and has to stop. What is that moving in the shadows among the tombstones? It's just a homeless woman named Gertie who lives in the graveyard. Casey and Ann find her a better place to stay. Gertie's morbid talk about her coming death is enough to unsettle our heros just a little. She refers to her relative, Roger as being dead already, as we visit with her in the house that Casey takes her to. What is all this crazy talk about? Creepy things are in store as we learn more about the vaudevillian past of Gertie. Changing the pace, we next find Casey and Ann in the Blue Note to tell Ethylbert about their new, lonely friend. They have a surprise for Gertie, and call on her the next day to spring it. Casey is surprised instead to find Gertie gone, and her locked up, tidy house is a mess. Who would want to do this to poor old Gertie? Casey smells a homacide investigation, but there's no corpse to be found. Is Casey being too hasty? Listen in for the clues, and see if you can put the pieces of this puzzle together before Casey does. A trap is developed to catch the criminal, but if you are still confused on the matter, just stay tuned, enjoy the ride, and Casey explains it all before its all over.

Doctor Danfield tries to remember a man's name who asked him to investigate three relatives. Suddenly the phone rings, and the cops want Dr Danfield to help with a case. Norman Miles is the name that Dan was trying to remember, and he's also the corpse in the latest murder investigation. At the residence of the wealthy man, Dan is certain one of the defensive relatives is the killer. Each of the family members tell their story in the form of a flashback that relives the moments of the murder. It's all too convenient, and Dr Danfield isn't falling for it. Instead, Dan has a psychological questionaire in mind to pick away the faults in the story. Danger awaits that could have Doctor Danfield up a tree. Literally. Listen in to see how he proves the answer to the mystery with his tallent at being a psychologist.

You are listening to the nerve center of the 21st Precinct. A phone call comes in and we follow the case from beginning to end through the events that transpire. Captain Frank Cannelli guides us through the details of an auto accident and a burglary. In voiceover he sets the stage, and takes us to the scene of the crime. The business owner shares what he knows, and his concerns over the trauma of the robbery, and police involvement. Then something strange happens, a call comes in where the caller claims to hold the safe, and for a ransome, the safe will be returned. In the squadroom, Captain Canelli discusses the odd case with his fellow uniformed police officers. In questioning a patrolman about the events on his beat, a timeline is established. Using resources at their grasp, Canelli and his men try tracing a phone call, and work with other precincts to close the gap on the safe robbers. Crimes are often traced to someone close to the victim, and this one is one of those. Listen in to learn who the thief is, and why they did it. Note: I know this series wasn't on as long as Dragnet, but in a lot of ways I like it better. It can be a little campy at times, but it makes a decent try at realism as it presents a glimpse at the real routine of solving crime and keeping the peace.

Casey gets an early morning phone call from a friend. A body has been found in Steve's apartment, and a story of gambling debts emerge. The scene is set, and a way is found for a killer to hav gotten into the room, and left unnoticed. It explains it all, but Casey begins to doubt his friend's innocence. What will the cops think once they are called on the job? In the Blue Note, Casey talks the matter over with Ann and Ethylbert. Steve is a bookie, and claims to have paid off his gambling debts. His safe was empty, and he doesn't know where the cash came from that was in it. Casey strikes on a situation involving loaded dice, and a new scenario of how the bodies came to be is arrived at. Can Casey prove his theory? A confrontation is set up, but gunshots ring out as the plot is being uncovered. It doesn't matter, since it only speeds the answers along for Casey to bring to light.

Captain Canelli gets a homacide call, and goes to the fancy apartment to investigate. It's a crime custom made for the tabloids. Specialists and experts descend on the crime scene to search for clues. Meanwhile, the uniformed cops are back on the streets, doing what they typically do. Captain Cannelli offers voiceover to tell about the rarity of murder mystery crimes, and that the killer is usually someone close to the victim, and easy to pick out. The uniformed cops are the call center, but have no information for the media circus that surrounds the story. Enough of the police findings are put together well enough to serve as a press conference, and keep reporters at bay. The case breaks when a Mr Newfield is picked up for questioning. How is he connected to the dead woman? What does he know about it? The cops don't believe his story. At least not at first.

The very exciting story of a beach where the tide goes out, and murder comes in. Maxie is forced to take a swim with his friend Bill. They are warned off by a gent named Fuzzy Atkins before they encounter a dame on the beach. On their excursion, they find the body of a dead woman. They then begin to investigate her murder. They discover the woman's husband, and a motive for him to kill her. When the nosy Bill gets to close to the truth, he gets a thump on the head, and left to be drowned when the tide comes in. Maxie and Fuzzy manage to rescue Bill, who then does some macho posturing with Nick, trying to get him to show some sign of being guilty. Bill sets up a trap, but does he have the right man?

 Danger, Doctor Danfield – Manuel Abello. ep2, 460825. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:27

Manuel is a criminal from South of the border, but has hopes of becoming a legitimate citezen to maintain his lifestyle of crime. When he gets into a disagreement with his mobster girlfriend, he kills her. A most unusual phone call comes to Dr Danfield that gets his curiosity up, and involved with tracking down Manuel. Clues turn up that make it unclear whether Manuel was the killer, or the killed, but Doc Danfield is hot on the case. Dan takes his girlfriend, Miss Fairfax to the mobster mansion for some snooping around, but are greeted by the aledged wife of Manuel. This won't be dangerous, will it? Using a little psychology against the greedy gangsters, and armed with legal evidence, Dr Danfield has a trap ready to spring into action. There are a few loose ends that Dr Danfield is more than willing to share with Miss Fairfax at the end.
