Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's number one prospect committed to Clemson and while I'm not big on discussing recruiting in my space I can say that this odd discussion on Clemson's worthiness is bothersome. So after a quick "it's just June" reminder, we dive into college football culture, Clemson as a village and why it is a spot that recruits absolutely enjoy. Then we get to what really matters, House Hunters. We've all seen the news about the show being staged from multiple fronts. Slate takes the time to tell us why we should care that it is fake and how the lack of integrity is hurting people. Here's a newsflash, if you're using House Hunters to teach you about the home buying process then you are dumb as shit. I learned more about the purchase process from my parents buying our Charlotte home, when I was SEVEN, then I've learned in years of watching House Hunters. It is called House Hunters, we watch people look at properties, say stupid stuff about closets and be amazed at how crappy a bathroom is in their price range; AND THEN WE ALL JUST TRY TO GUESS WHICH HOUSE THEY PICKED!!! While some people are surprised, which as I say on the podcast is a surprise to me considering how it always has a happy ending and somehow these random Joe Schmoes are great on camera, there are folks who feel just like me. The Atlantic Wire has a smart take on it and James Poniewozik of Time hits the nail on the head with "If House Hunters Is Wrong, I Don't Want to Be Right." I mean seriously, you want me to watch a show about the real house hunting process? Hells no, because that shit would suck. This year's BCS Championship game has infuriated me. No, not because the game was bad, unlike most people I didn't hate it. In fact, I thought there was some legitimate beauty to this game that so many people ignored because they were too busy pissing and moaning. However, thanks to people's decision to continually bring the game up I'm going to talk about it, maybe for the last time? Okay, probably not the last time but still I'm talking about it.  Ummmm ok. So what did JLee do that game besides throw 2 awful INTs RT @StatBoyMonte: @CarterthePower no, they needed both QBs to beat Bama — Carter Bryant (@CarterthePower) June 14, 2012 We hit on the beauty that was Alabama's gameplan and then get to the gross; LSU's lazy plan in the title game. I'm still not sure what people don't get but I am certain that I don't look at games in the same way as folks who think Jarrett Lee would make a world of difference in a game where the issue was sideline to sideline focus and not going north and south. With Lee comes more pressures, more disguised coverages and more problems; not less. To listen to the show click here or subscribe to one of the methods listed below. Today we get to talk some football on the podcast, which is always good. We hit on why I'm not too keen on Tyrann Mathieu repeating his big time success as a whole in 2012. Just a lot of moving pieces but ultimately, teams have a blueprint on how to neutralize him and I think that they will push that until something about LSU changes and depending upon Tharold Simon's performance, it may never change.  Then we hit on this whole thing: It isn't a knock on Kelly; just acknowledging that it takes a special type of a coach to ride the wave of an athletic, risk taking QB. — Michael Felder (@InTheBleachers) June 12, 2012 Basically, expanding upon the idea of special doesn't mean better and in this case "special" just means different. Just because a coach is capable of riding with the up and down train of an athletic quarterback, doesn't mean he is better than his peers. Different strokes for different folks. Oh and no, when you're a head coach who walks into a situation with a quarterback you'd never pick and don't intend on picking again; you don't get credit for that Michigan fan.  To listen to the show click here or subscribe to one of the methods listed below.   If you want the podcast you must subscribe to the Feedburner , but if you want to subscribe to the blog please use the RSS Feed . Some quick thoughts on the tragedy this weekend at Auburn. Really just a sad event that folks need to drop their fandom at the door and take it for what it really is, an awful event.  Then we get into a little recruiting talk. Florida State has blown up their recruiting budget and that's a good thing. That means more evals, more contacts, more visits, more materials and the like and that helps get more talent on to campus. It is measure of re-investment that should help pay itself back in the way of wins.  In keeping with the recruiting ordeal we have Brady Hoke waxing all philosophical like on the influence of the media and recruiting services. I take a pretty hard line here, not just because I'm covering more recruiting but because what coach is really saying is that fans love the recruiting sites and they bother him by paying so much attention his recruits' stars. If a head football coach is letting stars do the picking for him then he's already lost, plain and simple. To listen to the show click here or subscribe to one of the methods listed below. After taking a day off of football to talk a little college baseball, we're back on the football thing; and it is on the field stuff so yay! I finally get the chance to talk about Ohio State's big change on offense from the standpoint that truly interests me: tempo. Tempo is a strange mistress. She can be your best friend and she can be your worst enemy. When things are going well the tempo can wear out the defense, stop them from adjusting and really take the fight to the opposition. When tempo goes wrong your looking at short drives, no rest for your own defense and a loss in the field position and clock management battle. The Buckeyes are going to be one to watch for; they have the pieces for this move to be successful. However, Urban's team is undergoing two scheme changing transitions: moving from a pro style scheme to the spread attack AND changing their tempo. That's not one change, that's two. Pushing the pace makes everything happen quicker and really puts stress on the offense to understand and synthesize the scheme. It should be interesting to watch on offense. On defense, if the offensive guys get the move quickly, they will be facing teams with offenses pressing to score points. If the offense struggles though, expect tired bodies on defense and that is not a good thing. To listen to the show click here or subscribe to one of the methods listed below. It is my favorite non-college football time of the year, the NCAA Tournament is started folks. Love me some college baseball and after watching the selection show yesterday I figured I'd steal away from college football to talk a little baseball on you. The ACC gets a gang of hosts for the regionals, five total, only two are national seeds; Carolina and Florida State. Miami is a bit of a surprise, but compared to some of the other travesties that transpired I think them versus Kentucky to host is splitting hairs. Texas missed the tournament. The Longhorns had a rough go of it and the selection committee decided to leave them at home. Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Maryland, out of the ACC, are staying at home too. No big deal, right? It wouldn't be, except the freaking committee put Michigan State in the field. So basically this is all about that and how ultimately ridiculous this is because it is remarkably stupid. The ACC is not the only league looking to cash in through the television rights deals; the Big East is on the clock. Folks have speculated that the Big East could, thanks to competition in the marketplace, cash in with their new television deal; that's the reason the league turned down last years $130 million per year offer. However, new news has been exposed from industry sources by CBS Sports that things may not be looking up for the newly aligned coast to coast conference.  In realizing that football is driving the deal there are a number if interesting things to consider: how does adding teams of little value elevate the Big East beyond their current valuation, how do teams that don't carry the markets they are in help draw more cash and how will selling basketball games improve the number when football is what the network wants. The league is most certainly in a fight for cash and it does not look good. BUT, NBC Sports is trying to claw its way into the marketplace and the channel, desperately in need of inventory, might be able to provide the boost that the conference is looking for. Expansion is still very much the rage and today we're going to hit on that, again. If you're tired of it, sorry, after a couple of very good reads came out Wednesday, it is only right that I kick out my own take. Martin Rickman, over at Blogger So Dear, gave his take on expansion and it is a solid read. Jeff Fann, over at All Sports Discussion, gave a similarly good read with his thoughts on expansion. TWo solid, personal reads on expansion, what it is doing to the ACC and how they feel about things. While I don't agree with either of the takes I think they're must reads and definitely sparked me to knock out this podcast where, instead of putting fingers to keys, I just talk my way through my own personal views on expansion.  To listen to the show click here or subscribe to one of the methods listed below.
