It was a bit chaotic for the first time this year over the weekend, although in a totally controlled fashion (that will change, and you know it). I speak with one dude who was smacked in the face with the difficulty of surfing, and totally loved it. A bit chaotic, but I think you’ll appreciate the reality of this moment. James Rempel tells me about a very personal experience in nature involving an eagle a hawk and their clockwise/counter-clockwise circular motion. This dude is legit. The cool thing about living in the most gnarly and rugged rainforest in the universe is that sometimes the big boys roll through to capture some of our legit mystique. If you’re trying to give people a cinematic experience, all you really have to do is open your lens on the giant windswept trees just past the beach where the waves come to an end. That’s why I couldn’t help but take a gig as an extra on ABC’s The Crossing pilot. Heard about it through a hitchhiking ride originally and was excited when I got a call to be one of the people from the future trying to escape back to North America. It was a totally rad experience (although not as easy as you would think to lay dead on the beach in the middle of the night, the way the thermometer drops around here). It’s been a rare thing for me to delve into dubstep and trap territory on my show, but I figured it was at least time to embrace some of these elements — particularly with the new release from @gjonesbass. We stop in to see shopkeeper Sandra Varga, a prominent local Quebecois character, and she tells us a story about her father’s clothing factories. It’s a unique tale of French Canadian life, a topic quite relevant to Tofino, a place these folks love to visit. This week my car breaks down and I hitch with my surfboard back to Tofino~ 21:53 – I recorded a long-form conversation with Julie Walrant, a Belgian traveller, on my hitchhiking journey to Tofino. We covered the nature of freedom, our opinions on how to tap into frequencies of the universe and what stokes us out in life.
