Episode 158A – Prison Sentence Newsdump | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Prison Sentence Newsdump. Why can’t gamers keep themselves out of jail? It is just one more negative stereo type that the rest of us would rather not have to deal with. Society already views us as geeks and social pariahs we don’t need our image to be dragged through the mud even further. This is the fodder that the media and society just loves to exhibit as proof that video games are to blame for the decline of society, morality, and ethics. Personally I prefer to blame Kratos. That guy’s a jerk. Fan Email Sorry, no fan email this week. What can I say? When Chance doesn’t send us an email and we read someone else’s he gets whiny and accuses us of cheating, but does he keep sending us emails? What is Jason supposed to do when Chance doesn’t send the emails? Prison Sentence Newsdump I want to finally get this post out the door. It should have been out last week, but life gets busy and excuses are made. I’ll fill in the details later with all the news stories that we covered during this episode of the podcast. Unfortunately, I forgot to forward them and they are on my email at home. However, the teenage girl who shot and killed a man over his Playstation 4 has gotten her day in court and been sentenced. This girl and her boyfriend responded to an add on Craigslist with the intention of robbing the owner of his Playstation. He resisted and she shot and killed him. The gun probably cost more and now she is in prison for a consumer electronic product. * Fallout: New Vegas now available on Xbox One * Happy Birthday Nintendo 64 * Yay America * Sony owes you money * Mighty No. Hate * 35 Dollar DLC * Justice League knows * Korean girls are better than you * Walmart Fireworks * Epic Games sues you * Videogame ‘Civilization’ to Make Inroads in Classrooms * Nintendo Explains Why Zelda Games Rarely Come Out on Time * 40 Year sentence over PS4 The hosts of the DG Podcast would like you to know that they bear no responsibility for the content of the podcast as their brains were switched off during the production.  Episode 157B – Mighty Umbrella Corps Breached | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In Mighty Umbrella Corps Breached you play as a robot with vast transformative powers. As the last member of the Umbrella Corps who woke up after an unexplained apocalypse. You must investigate the cause of the apocalypse, repair your base, and fight off the zombies (which might have caused the apocalypse). What’s Going On Rhett has been playing Total War: Warhammer. This time as the Dwarves who have to fight off the Undead and the Orcs at practically the same time. Jason actually did something this week. He read some comics, Leaving Megalopolis: Finding Megalopolis and Captain Canuck at the top of the list. Mighty Umbrella Corps Breached We have some solid games coming out this week, as well as at least one question mark*: * June 21 * Deadlight: Director’s Cut – Xbox One, PS4, PC * Mighty No. 9 – Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux * Umbrella Corps – PS4, PC * VA-11 Hall-A – PC * June 22 * Breached – PC * June 23 * prog.1 – PC * – The quality of games this week is marred only by VA-11 Hall-A in my opinion. A game about bartending set in a dystopian future. The dystopian future is fine, but why bartending. It doesnt’ even seem to have any point. Maybe if your day job was as a bartender and by night you fought “The Man” like Mirror’s Edge or something, but this is just a fancy bartending sym. Will I be able to empathize with drunks better after this? Assigning blame isn’t easy when you don’t have a face to assign it to. Now you know and knowing is half the battle. Ah references.  Episode 157A – E3 Newsdump | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

E3 Newsdump. E3 has dropped right on our heads. The biggest video gaming expo where everyone and their digital dog come to hype their new game, peripheral, or gimmick. Did the presenters kill it this year, or did E3 pass like a ghost, leaving us with little more than a chill that dissipated in the sun? You will have to be the judge. Fan Email We got and read two emails this week. Chance was hurt that we would dare to read an email from someone else. What were we supposed to do? We don’t have many alternative when he doesn’t deliver. We got another email from John and one from Chance. John’s email this week was more geek oriented with commentary about X-Men: Apocalypse. Chance was in usual voice, commenting on E3, his collecting fetish, and X-Men: Apocalypse. E3 Newsdump There were a few news stories this week that were worth of note. However, the biggest thing this week was E3. What can be said about E3? It is big, it is loud, and it is the best place to get your video game hyped. There are some people that just don’t want to participate, but still benefit from the coverage. So, here are a list of games that were announced at E3. As you can see this year will probably be a solid year, nothing special, but a solid year. Did you ever want to see the host of a podcast? We didn’t think so, but SEO tells us otherwise. So, we’re putting it in anyway. Let us know what you think about the topics discussed tonight by commenting on our Twitter account, comment here on blog, or go to the forum.  Episode 156B – Minus Zero By Daylight | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In Minus Zero By Daylight you and three of your friends face-off against a deranged killer who will relentlessly hunt you. Are you smart enough, fast enough to escape? The only thing you have is your trusty lock-on laser to defend you. What’s Going On I don’t really remember. I got a bit behind. I could listen to the podcast and let you know, but I actually want you to do that. You know, listen to the podcast. That way you can be informed and ready to provide an opinion on a myriad of important topics. You will be the envy of your friends. Trust me. I am the envy of my friends…or would be if I had any. Hey, at least I’m informed. If I had to guess, Rhett has been playing Total War: Warhammer and Jason hasn’t really been doing anything of note. Minus Zero By Daylight We have some interesting* games for your consideration: * June 14 * Dead by Daylight – PC * The Elder Scrolls Online – Dark Brotherhood – Xbox One, PS4 * June 15 * K Station – PC * June 16 * Minus Zero – PC * Nurse Love Addiction – PC * – Okay so maybe interesting is a bit strong of a word and in at least one case sad would be the better adjective, but at least you don’t have to review them yourself. So according to SEO, it seems that people appreciate a visual component to their internet viewing. Well, if that’s what it takes, but I warn you it isn’t going to be pretty.  Episode 156A – Movies Not Good Newsdump | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Movies Not Good Newsdump. Comic book, video game, and movies of geek interest are coming fast and furious now that a few have shown that they can be successful. That is a both a blessing and a curse. We are getting movies with awesome potential, movies that could be spectacular. Just look at the Captain America and the Avengers movies. At the same time we are getting movies that should never have seen the light of day – Batman v Superman, the Fantastic Four, Spider-man 3, etc. Fan Email We did get a fan email however, it wasn’t from Chance. It was from Johnnydees52. We get a little bit political with this one as he wants to know about our feelings on the Elizabeth Smart/BYU drama. As you know we try to keep politics out of the newsdump, but when we get an email we will respond, even on politics. Movies Not Good Newsdump This is the part of the newsdump that really showcases the topic under discussion: * Turtles 2 not good * Perma Banning * Passion of the Christ 2: the Passioning * Rhett’s Xmen Review As per the new directive, Rhett and Jason have shown their colors and their faces.  Episode 155B – Hearts of Broken Bots | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Hearts of Broken Bots, a real-time strategy game set during an alternate World War II. Build your army of robots to destroy your enemies, build your resources, research new weapons, customize your units, inflict your enemies’ war-machines with debilitating weaknesses while strengthening your allies. What’s Going On What has been going on recently? Rhett has been overdosing on Total War: Warhammer. Evidently there is an army hidden in the game. You can play as the Bretonians in multiplayer matches, but there’s no campaign for them. Who knows what the plan is for them. There are so many ways for them to expand the game. Jason finished reading The Shadow of Reichenbach Falls. If you care at all for Sherlock Holmes – don’t read it. However, that did lead him to find a book on Project Gutenberg, the first time that site has been of use to him. He found Carnacki, the Ghost Finder by William Hope Hodgson. Carnacki is one part Sherlock Holmes, one part Ghostbusters, and one part Scooby-Doo. Hearts of Broken Bots Welcome to this week’s list of video games that are of interest* * June 6 * Hearts of Iron IV – PC * Super Duper Party Pooper – PC * June 7 * Broken Bots – PS4 * Mirror’s Edge Catalyst – Xbox One, PS4, PC * The Solus Project – Xbox One, PC * SteamWorld Heist – PS4, Vita, PC * June 8 * HeartZ: Co-Hope Puzzles – Xbox One, PC * June 9 * Crush Your Enemies – PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android * A Game of Changes – PC * Tick’s Tales: Up All Knight – PC, Mac, Linux * June 10 * Crimson Room Decade – PC * Kirby: Planet Robobot – 3DS * Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter – Xbox One, PS4, PC * – There is one game this week that is interesting only because no one told the developer to quit being a disgusting little boy. Seriously, why do people make these games. The Distracted Gamers, who also go by Rhett and Jason, have provided a PSA this week.  Episode 154B – Are Video Games Worth It? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:59

Are Video Games Worth It? Recently, Jason has been reviewing video games that are coming out the week of the podcast episode. We have reviewed a number of games that define the term awful. I’m looking at you American Truck Simulator. We have to ask ourselves are video games worth it? What’s Going On Jason finished Baudolino. It was a great book. He started another called The Shadow of Reichenbach Falls. In it Sherlock Holmes doesn’t fake his death, but ends up an amnesiac who runs into Thomas Carnacki, who later became the Ghost-Finder. Moriarty also survives and hunts them across Europe trying to finish what he started. Sounds interesting does it not? The answer is Yes and No. He also played some more Warhammer 40K: Space Marine and Secret of Monkey Island. Rhett has been playing Total War: Warhammer which he talks about at the end of the episode. He’s been watching Portlandia. He’s probably going to see X-men: Apocalpse, which is getting mixed to negative reviews. We also discuss another dumb move by DC Comics – The Joker now has an origin story. Are Video Games Worth It? Here are the video games worth* the effort to get interested this week. * May 31 * The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine – Xbox One, PS4, PC * June 1 * href="http://wardrumstudios.com/wdwp/portfolio/auralux-constellations/">Auralux: Constellations – PC * June 2 * Kick & Fennick – Xbox One, PS4, Wii U * June 3 * Anima: Gate of Memories – PC * href="http://www.threefieldsentertainment.com/dangerous-golf/">Dangerous Golf – Xbox One, PS4, PC * Elite Dangerous: Horizons – Xbox One * – worth it being described as these games didn’t make me despair for the souls of video game designers everywhere. As per usual, Jason and Rhett streamed the episode. It could be worse, but it is hard to imagine how.  Episode 154A – Windows Stole the Newsdump | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:18:02

Windows Stole the Newsdump. Windows 10 is a mastermind, trying to destroy our will to have computers free of version 10. It’s something that you should do, but does Microsoft have to be so pushy about it? Fan Email Chance is back with us once again. Our super-fan has blessed us with an email that could only have come from him. Turns out he was intrigued by the book that Jason’s been reading, playing Uncharted 4, collecting more Xbox games, weighs in on Civil War, and getting after Rhett for taking phone calls during the show. Jason has reduced his highly cogent thoughts into kindergarten-style, bite-sized chunks, so you can read the full email if you want. Windows Stole the Newsdump In the newsdump we don’t have much news this week, but Microsoft definitely comes out as the villain this week. We always knew they were out to steal our money, but now we have proof that they are out to steal our souls as well. We also feature some recent information about Captain America. Marvel, in our opinion, did something that could be defined as the height of stupidity – Captain America is now a Nazi. You read that right. The Captain, the symbol of everything a superhero should be, is now a Hydra agent. * DC news… * No Man’s Sky delayed * Arcade games saved! * PS4 still winning * Power Rangers boo * Twitter controversy * Windows 10 wants your soul The hosts of this show would rather remain anonymous, but here are their faces anyway. Maybe if we get enough money we’ll hire models so we don’t insult your eyes.  Episode 153B – Overwatch: Mutants in Manhattan | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:06

Overwatch: Mutants in Manhattan. A disbanded peacekeeping organization made up of superheroes must return to active duty to fight the Shedder, Krang, and there army of Foot Soldiers. What’s Going On Rhett is finished with Dark Souls III and so he has gone back to Fallout 4 and he’s finished multiple endings already. He’s also restarted the game because the DLC wouldn’t recognize his saved game data. Jason finished watching Assassination Classroom and started reading a book Baudolino. He liked Assassination Classroom and is enjoying the book. He’s never really gotten into Christian Mythology, but this is set during the Crusades during a search for the kingdom of Prester John. Overwatch: Mutants in Manhattan This week there are a few games worth mentioning*. * May 24 * Lumo – PS4, PC, Mac, Linux * Overwatch – Xbox One, PS4, PC * Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan – Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC * Total War: Warhammer – PC * May 26 * Chronicle: Runescape Legends – PC * Excubitor – PC, Mac, Linux * Omnibus – PC, Mac, Linux * Robot Arena III – PC * – Worth is a relative term. Relative to the other offerings that are coming out this week these are the standouts. Pretty depressing isn’t it? Here are the faces to put on the wanted posters.  Episode 152B – Why Civil War Sucked | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:01:36

Why Civil War Sucked. Spoiler Alert: Captain America: Civil War is one of the best superhero movies to date. This is just a little bait to get you to listen. Was it a perfect movie – no. Was it awesome – yes. What’s Going On Jason’s been working his way through Assassination Classroom. It is very enjoyable. The story centers around the class ranked lowest in the school and their attempts to assassinate their teacher. Their teacher is a being of immense power who has threatened to destroy the Earth, but he has a condition. Let him teach this class and he will let the kid attempt to kill him. If they succeed they save the world. He also recently started the Cosega Search. It attempts to be The DaVinci Code and fails hard. Rhett finished Bloodborne finally. He’s a completionist and so finished everything possible before finishing the game and said that may have made it easier to defeat the final bosses. He also brought up a video recently published by the Know about some stolen Kickstarter funds. That is a whole can of wyrms. Why Civil War Sucked There are some games coming out this week, and here’s the list I made. However, we don’t dwell on it. We cut to the Captain America: Civil War spoilercast*. * May 17 * Homefront: The Revolution – PC, PS4, Xbox One * Life Goes On: Done to Death – PC, PS4 * Shadow of the Beast – PS4 * Shadwen – PC, PS4 * Soft Body – PC, PS4 * May 18 * Duskers – PC * May 19 * Lastfight – PC * – Everything you hear is going to be spoiler-laden. If you haven’t seen the movie yet you might want to come back later, or not. So did we like the movie? Yes. Unlike Batman v Superman this movie did almost everything correctly. It was a fun movie to watch. Each superhero was given time to shine and to showcase their powers and abilities. The story was well written and their were no glaring plot holes. That said, were there improvements that could be made? Yes. The justification for fighting and regulating the superheroes was weak. The villain this time around was incredibly lame. The death order on Winter Soldier seemed premature and unwarranted. Should you go see this movie? Absolutely. Should you praise it like the best thing since sliced bread? No. Does it make Batman v Superman look like it is a pile of raw sewage? Yes, definitely. More fodder for you anti DG Podcast dartboard.  Episode 152A – Powerless to Stop the Newsdump | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:14:43

Powerless to Stop the Newsdump. You can’t help it and you can’t stop it. The newsdump is coming. I guess if you could keep anything from happening then the newsdump would have to report on the lack of anything happening, and still the newsdump would come. Resign yourself to it. Fan Email No email this week, but Lindsay has joined us in the form a pink-haired anime girl. Don’t look at me that way. Rhett was the one who chose her avatar. I’m just the one writing it up. Powerless to Stop the Newsdump * Boo Facebook! * Fuze will take over the world * Hermione a bad person * Windows 10 changes it tune * Doom early copies * Disney Infinity no more * Civilization VI coming * Dawn of War 3 Coming! * Dark Souls 3 Poise? * Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer * Nvidia killing it * Castle Canceled * Star Wars: Battlefront 2 * Muppets Canceled * Donkey Kong record broken * Battlefield 1 coming * Agent Carter cancelled * CSI gone * Powerless!  Episode 151B – StarBreak: A Thief’s Memories | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:15

StarBreak: A Thief’s Memories. This is a video game where you and your team fight vast hordes of dangerous aliens while you help your brother look for archeological artifacts in cyberspace? Who wouldn’t want that game? What’s Going On Jason has been watching Assassination Classroom. He doesn’t really remember the other things he’s been doing recently besides watch YouTube videos and reading. Rhett has been trying to do other things after finishing Dark Souls III. To that end, he got the Order: 1886 for Lindsay and hung out with her. The Order gets a bad rep fro being short. That seems to be the only complaint that anyone has. Doesn’t that mean that the game is good? StarBreak: A Thief’s Memories As usual, we now present you with the most interesting* games that are coming out this week. * May 9 * Stellaris – PC * May 10 * MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies – Vita * StarBreak – PC * Tastee: Lethal Tactics – PC * Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – PS4 * May 12 * Goliath – PC * RefRain – prism memories – PC * May 13 * Doom – Xbox One, PS4, PC * Hero Defense – Haunted Island – PC * Project G – PC * – This week we define interest as those video games chosen by Paul the Octopus.  Episode 151A – Be Reasonable | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:44

Be Reasonable. What is wrong with being reasonable? I know that it is passe, but that doesn’t explain why we can’t be grown ups and conduct ourselves with decorum or have a reasoned conversation. Look around you. What is going on where a man can’t express his opinion without receiving a death threat? Last I checked the Freedom of Speech was still part of the Bill of Rights. Which means that we are both still entitled to our opinions and I don’t have to agree with you and I can say so without repercussions. And just because I have an opinion it doesn’t suddenly invalidate your opinion. Fan Email First off, thanks for the email Chance. We appreciate your efforts to communicate with two obscure guys from the deeps of the internet. Chance has been buying original Xbox games like a madman. He’s also enjoying his new job, pumped for Red Star, lamenting about the current crop of under-talented, over-priviledged idiots of the younger generation and more. Be Reasonable What ensues is very akin to chaos. Our two hosts begin by discussing being reasonable. Look at the internet and our celebrities, video games, comics whatever. Mass Effect and Last of Us for instance. Mass Effect came out and what was everyone talking about? The fact that you could have same-sex relationships and relationships with aliens. The Last of Us released some DLC and what was the discussion? It sure wasn’t the content of the story. It was the protagonist, an underage girl, romantically kissing another underage girl. We are tired of special interest groups pushing their radical agendas on the majority. We aren’t saying that you can’t have rights or hold opinions, but if you can have rights and hold opinions then so can We. You seem to think that we play video games or watch movies or read comis for social reform, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. We do theses things for entertainment. If we want social reform we’ll look for it elsewhere. So stop trying to force your ideals down our throats. Can’t wait to put a face to the voice and thereby associate blame for the rest of our existence? Here you go.  Episode 150B – Battleborn Fragments of Rain | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:48

Battleborn Fragments of Rain. In the far future, around the 1990’s, when the universe is dying you must investigate the mystery surrounding your death and the impact you have had on the lives of your friends and family while fighting off hordes of aliens and monsters bent on hastening universal destruction. What’s Going On Once again, I wasn’t listening when Rhett and Jason were explaining what they have been doing. If I know those two, and I think I do, Rhett was playing Dark Souls and Jason didn’t really do anything. What can I say, he’s lazy. He basically just phones these things in. Battleborn Fragments of Rain Again we bring you, trolled from the depths of the internet, the most interesting games of the week*. We have aliens, death, superpowers, mystery, suspense, 8-bit, and more, though maybe not altogether. * May 3 * Battleborn – PC, Xbox One, PS4 * Fragments of Him – PC * The Park – PC * Superhot – Xbox One * May 5 * Overwatch Open Beta – PC, Xbox One, PS4 * Kathy Rain – PC, Mac * May 6 * Ecotone – PC * – This is based on the opinion of one obscure guy on the internet who does a Google search, but you should totally listen to him because his opinion is better than yours. If it wasn’t true it wouldn’t be on the internet. As always you are welcome to look at the faces of the DG Podcast while you listen to us ramble if that is your poison.
