Red River Radio presents "Art of The Red River".  Artists, Wade Zahares, Mike Dubisch, and Carolyn Watson-Dubisch interview sculptors and artists from all walks of life.  Our first guest is sculptor Nathan Nicholls.A welder/sculptor of recycled/found metal objects. His current passion is transforming his yard into an extensive sculpture park where people can come and meditate or simply enjoy the view. He has works on display at his home gallery in Waldoboro, Maine, at many area galleries and businesses. His sculptures are on extended exhibit at the Liberty tool museum in Liberty, Maine and Hulls cove in Bar Harbor, Maine. His work also has shown at the Penobscot Marine museum in Belfast Maine and he has sold works to many people far and near. After Nathan will be cartoonist and animator Mike Bocianowski.His work has shown in the Untied States and Poland and he's the creator of the popular comic series "Chuck The Ugly American".  His latest comic book series "Yets!" is also proving to be just as engaging. He's taught animation at the Edinboro University and was the featured artist on a PBS show called "Egg". We're thrilled to have this diverse and creative cartoonist and animator join us today. Our final guest is Frank Dixon. Frank Dixon studied art and illustration at Art Center College of Design and received his MFA in fine arts from California State University at Los Angeles. His background ranges from portrait artist on the Queen Mary, to award winning graphic designer/ illustrator for NASA, to a popular art instructor in Southern California. Many of his treetch paintings and writings are featured in his three books: Drawing Treetch and other Fantastic Creatures, The Struggles of A Treetch, and The Art of Frank Robert Dixon . He lives with his wife and two children in a land of rolling hills and rather large trees in southern California.

  Red River Writers and Blog Talk Radio would like to welcome Dr. Ellen Ruderman. Ellen is the author of Chasing the Red Car which focuses on a  highly volatile time period. Dr. Ellen G. Ruderman is a psychoanalyst and author who has lectured at universities, libraries, medical groups, and conventions across the country. Her professional articles have been published widely. She is also the co-author of Therapies with Women in Transition: Toward Relational Perspectives with Today's Woman (International Universities Press, 2003) which explores the challenges of women's quest for autonomy and success within their professional and familial relationships. Her first novel, Chasing The Red Car, is based on her experiences of growing up in Los Angeles during the McCarthy Era. She holds a private practice in Encino, CA. For more info, visit: www.ellenruderman.com I would also like to welcome Harvey Goodman. Harvey Goodman grew up in Los Angeles and attended the University of Colorado where he studied history and developed a love for Western literature and the great outdoors. He visited and worked in some of the West's remotest locations during his years running an oilfield vessel-buildings outfit. .  In his youth, Mr. Goodman excelled as an athlete, being named the MVP of the University of Colorado football team his senior season, and he was selected as a starting guard for The Senior Bowl, The Coaches All-America Game, and The East-West Shrine Game. He was drafted by the St. Louis Football Cardinals and played in thirty-two NFL games, including the 1976 season with the Denver Broncos. Harvey is the author of Winds of Redemption and Along the Fortune Trail.

Our first guest, Michael Nelson has had a  lifelong love of art and comic books, and a pursuit to create, publish, and market his own comic book creations. He's also a designer for all things print and web and has been working in the industry for over 10 years. He was creative director at Zedura Magazine, art director at Up North Trading Company, and cofounder at Carpet Bob Comics. He currently is the lead artist and designer at 50 Foot Robot Studios and is working and living in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Next we'll be speaking with life long Maine resident , Caren-Marie Sargent Michel. She studied painting with Esther Barney in Portland, Maine for six years and received her B.F.A. in painting from Portland School of Art. She often portrays a location through series capturing different seasons or times of day with changing light and color. Many of Michel's paintings incorporate collage. She has been represented by Jameson Gallery in Portland, Maine. You can see her luminescent  landscape paintings at the new Mercy Hospital Fore River building's main lobby in Portland,. Michel is represented by North Light Gallery in Millinocket and Carver Hill Gallery in Rockland, Maine. Also on the show will be Rebecca Hicks, creator of the book and web-comic series "Little Vampires". In her own words "'The Little Vampires' came from a random comment my husband made about his diabetes, about his finger tips, because he's always checking his blood sugar so he's like 'Yeah, my fingers look like they are being nibbled by little vampires." They are cute little vampires no more that 6 inches or so high says Hicks. is they're literally little vampires. They try really hard to be like big and fierce vampires and they fail spectacularly at it."

For this month's show our first guest will be artist Jason Soles.  Jason Soles is a game designer and self-taught sculptor who has been the lead developer for Privateer Press' award-winning miniatures game Warmachine. In 1999, he co-founded the Seattle-based dark arts collective Catalyst Studios with visionary painter Ann Koi. He has a BA from The Evergreen State College with a focus on script-writing and film production. He continues to live and work in Washington. Joining us next we'll talk to illustrator Chris Van Dusen.  Chris studied fine art at The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and graduated with a BFA in 1982. He then worked a part-time job at a magazine for teenagers. Eventually he started drawing cartoons and illustrations for the magazine and his career as an illustrator was born. For more than ten years he worked as a freelance illustrator specializing in art for kids. Illustrating for Nickelodeon, Family Fun and Disney Adventures. His first book, “Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee” which was published in 2000. I’ve been busy writing and illustrating children’s books ever since. He now lives in a beautiful, little town on the coast of Maine with his wife Lori, my two sons, Ethan and Tucker and a yellow lab named Pearl. Also joining us is comic book artist Matt Brundage from Eugene, Oregon.  Matt is the artist of the Dragons of Blizzard Island comic book series, a riveting children's fantasy comic from Big Bang Toys.  Matt has also worked for Warner Bros Studio, freelanced and taught.
