Free to speak...not free of consequences | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 334

It's not what you say...it's how you say it We've all heard that saying before, and you know what?  It's 100% true. As a communicator, you are responsible not only for what you say, but for how your message is received. Over the last 36 hours, the kerfuffle over Duck Dynasty has given us a real life example of how not to express your opinions, especially when it comes across in a destructive, not constructive way. Now, just like Phil Robertson, each of us absolutely has not only the right to our own opinions, but to express them.  We do not, however, have the right to be free of the consequences of what we say. So, the next time you're in a delicate position and have to deliver a delicate message, be delicate with your words so your message isn't lost in translation.

Kairos, Chronos, and Staying Sane During The Holiday Season | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2040

Yes, that time of year is once again upon us...the beginning of the holiday season. It's that time of year where we are easily overwhelmed with all we have to do, and easily stressed because of...oh, so many reasons. Tonight we talk about the two types of people: Kairos (event/moment/relationship) oriented people Chronos (linear time/Type A) oriented people. Being a chronos oriented person, it's easy to get overwhelmed when the schedule gets full and when schedules aren't kept. Kairos people can let time get away because they're more 'in the moment' and end up stressed because they're confused as to where the time went. Listen to how Charlotte (kairos) and I (chronos) work on balancing the two when things get crazy. Find out how we set schedules, say no, don't commit to things we can't do, and how we keep our schedules open to allow for spontaneity in a season where free time can be a luxury.
