 RAS #572 - The Dark Mirror | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:28

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we have some new stuff mixed with the old. We have three listener stories that are tied together in a pretty unique way. I think you are going to be amazed at just how synergistic your stories can be at times. Then we have a 50’s noir story that when published was way ahead of its time. All in all I think you are going to enjoy it. So press that play button and let’s get started. Program note: I am publishing the podcast a day early this week due to some inclement weather that is said to be coming in. I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. Featured Story - The Dark Mirror Our featured story comes from the OTR series Screen Directors Playhouse. After a murder, Lt. Stevenson questions the dead man's girlfriend. Sensing that she's keeping a secret, he confronts her at home, where he meets her identical twin sister. Both women appear exactly alike, sometimes even posing as each other. However, when a twin expert analyzes the sisters, he finds that one twin is normal, and the other is psychotic -- but which one? The story is titled The Dark Mirror, and it stars Olivia de Havilland playing the role of both sisters. It first aired March 31, 1950. Other Stories Include: The Collector’s Item, The Sleeping Dragon, I Am The Thing, I Am The Thing Too, Out Of Body At Grandma’s House,  I jumped out of my Skin, and The Dark Mirror.  RAS #571 - The Death Of A Spaceman | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:27

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we have some UFO encounters sent in by listeners Terrell, and Rosalina. Terrell has a strange visitor after seeing a UFO, and Rosa watches a UFO flyby while drinking a very expensive bottle of wine. Then we have a striking story from the pages of the pulp mags about the old spaceman who faces his own mortality. We end the show with a new look at Newton and his discovery of gravity. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show. Featured Story - Death of a Spaceman Our featured story for this time comes from Amazing Stories Magazine March of 1954. I wrestled with this one for quite a while before deciding whether to play it or not. The subject matter is a bit rough. It tells the story of the death of a spaceman from the point of view of that very spaceman. I found it deeply profound and entertaining. It is my hope that you do as well. It is titled Death of a Spaceman and was written by Walter M. Miller, Jr.  It is read for us by Gregg Margarite. The manner in which a man has lived is often the key to the way he will die. Take old man Donegal, for example. Most of his adult life was spent in digging a hole through space to learn what was on the other side. Would he go out the same way?   Stories Include - Blind Confession, Alien Encounters, The Night to be Feared, Big Balls of Light, Death of a Spaceman, and Château Lafite Rothschild Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at   and - Good Treats for your dog to eat.  RAS #570 - Beyond Infinity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:07

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have your stories which this time focus on the shadow man. Jason tells about a shadow standing at this bedroom door and Dewey’s shadow turns the power off. Then we have a tale that combines science, cool gadgets, and some espionage thrown in for flavor. This one truly is classic science fiction at its best. Also, on the show we review the audiobook SpecOps Expeditionary Force. So relax, press that play button and enjoy! Featured Story - Beyond Infinity Our featured story is a science fiction marvel. It comes from the classic radio series Dimension X. It is titled Beyond Infinity and tells us a story that is part espionage thriller and part science fiction drama. In a police state somewhere in Europe, a scientist invents a machine capable of shrinking objects to microscopic size, which he intends to use to help rebels smuggle weapons under the noses of government forces. This is one of the best stories that Dimension X ever did. It first aired on July 21, 1950. Other Stories Include - Too Early A Bird, SpecOps Expeditionary Force, 283 East Broadway, Electric Shadow, and Beyond Infinity Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at   and - Good Treats for your dog to eat.  RAS #569 - Sight Gag | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:20

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have a mixed bag. We open with three incredible ghost adventures - May tells us about her spirit guide, Wisp9988 has an experience with sleep paralysis and loves it, and Amanda tells about her blue grandpa. Our main tale comes from the 60’s pulp mags and tells us all about the FBI Superman who can’t be killed. This one was suggested by listener Doyle Riley. As an added bonus we have a short story titled Resurrection. So grab your favorite beverage and press that play button! Featured Story - Sight Gag Our featured story was suggested by Doyle Riley, a listener from Scottsdale, Arizona. Doyle said in his email that I was going to love this story. He was right. It is a strange tale of the life and times of the FBI Supermen. Intelligence is a great help in the evolution-by-survival—but intelligence without muscle is even less useful than muscle without brains. But it's so easy to forget that muscle—plain physical force—is important, too! The story is titled Sight Gag and was written by Larry M. Harris.  It was first published in Analog Science Fact & Fiction Magazine in May of 1962. Other Stories Include - Marks Of Death, Columbus Day, Spirit Wolf, Fun With Sleep Paralysis, My GrandPa is Blue, Sight Gag, and Resurrection.  RAS #568 - An Extra Man | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:47

Well It finally happened, a podcaster's worst nightmare. Ron was struck down with laryngitis. He is nearly over it, but it did make putting a show together this week challenging. The good news is that you are getting all new content. The better news is that we are playing a story that we have wanted to run for a long time, but couldn’t because of its length. It comes from the October, 1930 issue of Astounding Stories and takes us into the world of mad science.  Featured Story - An Extra Man Our featured story is quite unique. Especially when you realize that it was first published in October of 1930 in Astounding Magazine. This one was way ahead of its time. Star Trek was known for its use of the transporter. But where did Rodenbary get the idea for it? Perhaps it came from our story today. It is titled An Extra Man and this is a fun one. Other Stories Include - The Book Case, and Ghostsitters - A Crazy Inheritance Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at   and - Good Treats for your dog to eat.  RAS #567 - The Dog And His Shadow | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:07

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we are bringing back an old friend to the show. The Blue Beetle. The last time we heard from him was in , and that is far too long. BB is a superhero patrolman who got his start in the comics in 1939. What I will play is his origin story from the classic radio series of the same name. Also on the show, have three stories from you guys. A brand new one from Ray Peyton about a lighter and two chilling tales that should get your blood flowing. Featured Story - The Shadow And His Dog Our featured story is not from old time radio, or the pulp magazines, and we don’t have a guest. However, what we do have is a creepy listener story that, quite frankly, gave me chills while I recorded it. It was sent into the show by Brian Shaw from Salem, Oregon. Brian tells a story about a shadow man who stands out in front of his house watching. This is one creepy story!  Other Stories Include - Pattern Of Guilt, 2001 - A Space Odyssey - A Review, The Purple Lighter, Did that just happen, The Dog and His Shadow, and The Drug Ring Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at   and - Good Treats for your dog to eat. On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have a pseudo theme on the life and times of Isaac Asimov. We review an audiobook written by him called Robot Dreams. We even play a game of Johnny Is It True where you get to pick which famous Asimovian quote I faked. Add to that a story from the OTR series 2000 plus that is titled Robot Killer, well I think you get the idea. Not too worry though it is not all robots there are two ghost stories sent in by Richard and Tambra that are quite creepy.  Featured Story - Killer Robot Our featured story comes from the short lived radio series 2000 Plus. It ran on the Mutual Broadcasting System for a little over a year ending in 1952. It was the first adult science fiction series on radio, airing one month prior to the better-known Dimension X.  The tale is called Robot Killer and is one that Isacc Asimov would be proud of. It takes a good look at the pitfalls of owning a robot. It aired in Late 1950. Other Stories Include - A Bit Of Logic, Eyes Do More Than See, Kids In The Woods, A Wolf Encounter, Robot Killer, And Johnny Is It True - Isaac’s Quotes Ron’s Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at   and - Good Treats for your dog to eat. Every year on Ron’s Amazing Stories we turn to the macabre and take a look at the dark side. We call this The Month Of Spooky. In this episode it is all about the doll. That cute and cuddly creature that is stuff of nightmares. Movies like Child’s Play or Annabelle have turned these figurines of joy into menaces and harbingers of evil. What we have are three doll stories sent in by you; An Elsa doll, Gramma’s favorite doll, and a jealous Clown Doll. Then we will play one of the top 31 scariest stories from the golden age of radio.
