 Ep.64: Competition Time | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 54:50

An episode where we actually talk about Crossfit? What? Who are we? The Barbells for Boobs competition is finally here! Joy and Claire talk about the upcoming competition WODs and reminisce about last year’s B4B event. Will we win the fundraiser again this year??? We also dive in to Joy’s past with roller derby…um, what? I know right. There’s a little (a lot) bit of Taylor Swift talk, a little bit of butterfly pullup talk, and we even answer a few of your burning J&C questions. Did we mention Shake It Off? Because you better get ready to…..

 Ep.63: Don’t Stop Believin’ | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 57:58

It’s catch up time! Claire and Joy talk about Hawaii, birthdays, and the kombucha beads Claire bought Joy for turning 37. We also discuss the beauty of Pinterest but decide that social media is sucking away our lives, so we do something pretty drastic LIVE on the podcast. Dun dun dunnnnnnn! The Girls Gone Rx competition is coming up (you have a week left to donate!!) and we have new costume ideas, Joy plays Claire the best song ever, and we pretty much don’t disappoint in the girl-talk-randomness department. We love you, too.

Ep.62: Steph from Stupid Easy Paleo | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1:08:03

This week we are excited to chat with Steph from Stupid Easy Paleo! Steph lets us in on how to sort through all of the paleo advice out there and pick the approach that’s right for you, her favorite protein packed on-the-go breakfast ideas, not to mention some of the best advice we’ve heard for how to reach body composition goals even when your hormones are crazy. We also chat about her ebook The Paleo Athlete and her upcoming cookbook The Performance Paleo Cookbook! From science teacher, to bike racer, to Regionals athlete, to author, entrepreneur, and Paleo celeb… this lady has had a busy couple of years, and we spend this episode picking her brain about just about all of it!

 Ep.61: Eating Disorder Real Talk | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1:11:44

This week we are excited and privileged to be joined by eating disorder expert Lisa, who not only works in an inpatient clinic for adults with severe eating disorders, but also happens to be one of Joy’s closest friends! Lisa sits down with us (on the floor, obviously) and gives us real answers to questions like how to know when your otherwise healthy eating habits are crossing over into disordered eating, how to balance the realities of emotional and social factors in your diet, what a “normal” relationship with food should feel like, and lots more. So much more, in fact, that this is our longest episode ever. But we think you’ll agree that it’s worth it.

Ep.60: Girls Gone Rx Goes Nationwide | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 42:54

Lindsey Marcelli, co-owner of CrossFit Eminence and founder of the Girls Gone Rx competition, is back! In this episode, we chat about Lindsey’s big decision to take Girls Gone Rx nationwide to spread the CrossFit love and raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. And as one of the most accomplished female coaches we know, we also pick Lindsey’s brain about how to approach your first WOD as a newbie CrossFitter, and how to approach your first competition when you’re ready for something new. And be sure to check out www.girlsgonerx.com to see if there’s a Girls Gone Rx competition coming to a box near you!

 Ep.59: Hot Mess | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 51:56

It feels like it’s been so long since we’ve just had a nice little chat! So that’s exactly what this episode is all about, just a good ol’ fashion J&C catch-up sesh, complete with tears of laughter and a little Spice Girls dance party (obviously). We also answer the rest of your Q&A questions that we didn’t get to the first time around, and we find out that the most wonderful time of the year is almost upon us: Yep, it’s almost time for Joy to bust out her pink fuzzy boots again.

Ep.58: Stacy Toth from Paleo Parents | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 56:21

Stacy Toth joins us this week to discuss her newest project: Strong Woman Radio podcast (iTunes). She also tells us what it’s like being a strong woman badass, blogger, author, mother of three, wife….the list goes on! Stacy answers YOUR listener questions and schools us on gin and ‘buch to serve at your next paleo party. Um, what? It’s an hour full of information you don’t want to miss! Subscribe on iTunes and leave a comment letting us know what you think!

 Ep.57: J&C Q&A | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 54:46

It’s Q&A time with Joy and Claire! In this episode we cover serious questions (eating disorders…Joy puts her therapy hat on) and not so serious questions (what’s in your gym bag? Claire: “what’s a gym bag?”). Claire explains why she tossed her scale in the garbage (well, because scales just suck). Joy revisits her Diana Ross Superbowl moment (Mom Sandy will no doubt be posting that link on our FB page any day now). It’s an hour chock-full of GREAT questions from YOU, our amazing listeners! The best part? Claire gives the most entertaining episode introduction yet. Stay classy my friends.

 Ep.56: 2014 Crossfit Games Recap | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 52:44

The 2014 Crossfit Games have come and gone! In this episode we talk about our favorite moments from the Games and may hop on a bunny trail about mala beads, dream boards, and crystals. Claire talks about her upcoming trip to Maui (she’s totally on a beach right now), Joy warns Claire about dry needling (don’t.do.it.), and we both take a moment to lament the fact that the Games are really over. I mean, we just didn’t get enough of Lauren Fisher’s ponytail. Or Rich Froning’s biceps. Or Lucas Parker’s beard……..*sigh*. We need a doughnut.

 Ep.55: Krissy Mae Cagney | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 52:43

This week we are so excited to welcome Krissy Mae Cagney as our guest! This woman is super strong, covered in tattoos, and loves donuts… Which makes her pretty awesome in our book. In this episode, Krissy, a former figure competitor turned Registered Dietitian and West Side Barbell coach, talks all about nutrient timing, how to train so you don’t get “too big,” how to tell when you’ve found a good donut shop, and the importance of forgiving yourself for past mistakes. PS, If you’re interested in learning your own macros, check out her ebook “Flexible Dieting” on her website kmaecags.com!

 Ep.54: Juli Bauer is Back! | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 50:26

We are so excited to welcome Juli Bauer from PaleOMG back to the podcast! This week we talk about Juli’s latest cookbook, The Paleo Kitchen; how it came to be, what it was like to write it, and the whirlwind book tour that’s gone along with it. And we spend a not insignificant amount of time talking about her little frenchie, Jackson, because let’s be honest, dogs are the best. We also talk about the wonders of gluten-free cupcakes, the reality of internet haters, the “chapstick effect” that comes from bulletproof coffee, and, of course, about trying to make fetch happen. Oh, it’s gonna happen.

 Ep.53: 14ers and Spice Girls | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 52:41

This week is all about catching up with the random bits of our lives. Claire recaps the 14er she hiked for the 4th of July, Joy talks about visiting the biggest soda store ever in Oklahoma City, we talk about how neither of us remembers anything from high school except for all of the songs we listened to, and we both agree that we want to be Gwen Stefani. Don’t worry, we talk a little bit about CrossFit as well, going back and forth about our biggest CF pet peeves and whether or not Claire’s attitude about CrossFit has changed since she started coaching. Last but not least, did you know it’s been 18 years since the album Wannabe by the Spice Girls came out? It’s ok, you can feel old now.

 Ep.52: Podcastiversary! | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 53:30

Happy podcastiversary to us!! What a year it has been! In this episode we talk about favorite GGW moments, Britney, Mean Girls, and….wait, how is this different? Anyway, Joy gets a little cheesy and nostalgic. Claire sings a very special song. It’s everything you know and love about our podcast. Cheers to the next 52!

Ep.51: Set All the Goals! Summer 2014 Edition | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 48:38

We’re back with another installment of goal setting with Joy and Claire! This time around, we abandon the super strict SMART Goal approach and instead try to make some smaller, more straightforward goals that might actually fit into our lives a little bit better. We also go over a little Pinterest summer bucket list, and Joy even finds a cute goal-setting worksheet from Lauren Conrad that we obviously have to answer right here and now. We also talk about our new Spreadshirt shop, crafting and drinking, and the fact that Apple Store Geniuses could probably take over the world if they wanted to. Or maybe they already have and we just don’t know it? That’s probably more likely.

 Ep.50: The Cave of Wisdom | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 51:23

It’s Episode 50, you guys! We know that every week we talk about how crazy it is that we’ve managed to keep GGW alive and well for yet another week (unlike the house plant that Joy got Claire for her bridal shower that she has since killed… oops), but this one feels like a pretty huge milestone. In this episode, we talk about a real life Tarot Card reading that Claire got last weekend where the tarot lady told her that she was emerging from a cave of wisdom, whatever that means. We also talk about crotch sweat, our opinions about steroid use, and what you should do if you have unhealthy friends who you’d love to motivate to make a lifestyle change, but just can’t seem to figure out how to do it.
