Critical Issues Commentary Radio
Summary: Critical Issues Commentatry grew out of Bob DeWaay's passion to equip the saints for the work of ministry. In the late 1980's Bob met regularly with a group of local pastors, often presenting position papers on timely doctrinal issues. When he found that the messages were accepted by only a few of the attendees and rarely reached the pews, he chose to speak directly to the people by initiating a bimonthly newletter. Bob DeWaay is teacher and theologian at Gospel of Grace Fellowship in Edina, MN. A Horrifying Possibility: Hebrews 10:26-31, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. This is yet another warning against apostasy in Hebrews. Apostates have trampled Christ under foot, regarded His blood as defiled, and insulted the Holy Spirit. Therefore they face certain judgment. (duration 00:32:26)
Exhortations for Christians to Take Action: Hebrews 10:22-25, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. This section of Hebrews contains three exhortations: draw near, hold fast, and assemble together for mutual edification. Released from Sin: Hebrews 10:15-21, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. New covenant believers have continual, unhindered access to the presence of God through Christ's finished work. Therefore unbiblical practices designed to make people feel close to God are seriously in error. (duration 00:33:15)
"Once For All": Hebrews 10:8-14, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. The sacrifice that Christ made once for all is the one God desired and it permanently consecrates believers for service to God and holy worship. (duration 00:32:56)
The Blood of Bulls and Goats Cannot Take Away Sins: Hebrews 10:1-7, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. This section discusses the inadequacy of Old Covenant sacrifices. Unlike Christ's offering, they were not done "once for all" and they left the worshippers with consciousness of sins. (duration 00:31:42)
It is Appointed to Men to Die Once: Hebrews 9:23-28, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. In solidarity with the human race, Jesus Christ died once. But His once for all death provides decisive cleansing that reaches to heaven itself. (duration 00:28:55)

We discuss Jesus as the mediator of the New Covenant and how God has chosen to speak through mediators. The Cleansed Conscience: Hebrews 9:11-14, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. How Christ's once for all shed blood is superior to that of OT sacrificial animals and provides both propitiation and expiation. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from the inside out, so that we are fit to come before God in holy worship. (duration 00:33:54)
Old Covenant Sacrifices Cannot Cleanse the Conscience: Hebrews 9:1-10, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. This section of Hebrews describes the tabernacle and some of its furnishings to show that it was only provisional. It provided a continual reminder that though God was in their midst, He was holy and they were separated from Him by the veil. (duration 00:28:12)
The New Covenant: Hebrews 8:7-13, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. Everyone under the New Covenant knows the Lord, or else they are not part of it. We also discuss pageantry and mysticism that are created in some churches to give a sense of spirituality to the unconverted. (duration 00:27:25)
