Relics of Orr Episode 23, The Marathon for Incontinence | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:50:43

Download the MP3 file I’m joined by Tasha with Split Infinity Radio and Tigerfeet with Secret Agent Cat to make an episode. By brute force. And we spoke of nothing GW related. At least we meant to do it that way, this time. Windows 7 did not play friendly with Tigerfeet’s mic, but Csquirrel came through for us and adjusted the call in a fashion that  had to have been extremely tedious. Big thanks to him. We don’t expect to be releasing episodes when there’s little GW related news to talk about in the near future. I hope to have a mini show (per Louden’s recommendation) for the holidays, but otherwise, expect a downswing in our activity in regard to Relics. Sequel Scuttlebutt Some talk on the GDC Vault Interview (video) with the ArenaNet team. Discussion on a recent article straight from ArenaNet about loot and armor. Remedyman wants to know about World vs. World in GW2. Speculator’s Corner Oculus Sinister asks 1) Will there be an achievement system? IMO most likely. Will they do anything innovative there? Probably not. 2) Why have they been so quiet about their PvP and GvG? Think they have some amazing new concept to unveil or will it be more of the same? I think that GW’s pvp is among the best in MMOland and pve their weakpoint. All their emphasis so far has been to address changes in the game that fix pve weaknesses of the original GW and other MMOs. 3) MMO manifesto video on http://www.guildwars2.com: did anyone else hear Colin’s voice crack twice during his shpeal? Could he be going through puberty a second time? Could Guild Wars 2 be so amazing that this is a potential side effect and will the FDA have to step in and issue Guild Wars a block box warning? Shepard Book asks about the next profession reveal, release date speculation, and expansion release models. Matteo Vittoria asks 1) With the removal of the click to move system in Guild Wars 2, I can only assume that clicking results in a standard attack and in this the only way of auto attacking is to right click your first skill. Here lies my question, if I run out of energy/mana does my character stop auto attacking or only attack when he has the energy? I realise that this is hard to speculate on without actually seeing in game but I figured you guys would have more experience and knowledge in this area. 2) As a warrior I feel my role as the parties’ first member into combat dismissed as we now in Guild Wars 2 see other professions take on a more frontline role. In this lies my problem, do you think that stationary professions such as the Warrior are going to be ignored for more agile professions such as a ranger, especially because there is no body blocking in Guild Wars 2 and the role of the tank is effectively gone with the removal of the MMO trinity. Togo’s Soapbox I joined a party and everyone’s posting these links to their skillbars in chat. How do they do that? How do I do this for a build from another profession? Speculator’s Corner Book writes It should be emphasized that the demo was a showcase for the game and many of the things could have been accentuated to be more ‘showy” As far as elites, I’ve always wanted the elites to be ‘elite’ versions of normal skills (like prot spirit 10 sec…10% reduction and the elite Shielding Spirit 16 sec and 16% reduction) The Shatner is a GREAT name (thanks Tiger Feet!)…Although…I’m getting a good vibe from “Krack-at-the-court”. Following Tasha’s was seems to work well for me when I’m helping others who are lost. Have them look ober their map while you are looking at Wiki. Ask them about towns they have until you get to one that they don’t have…take a step back and look to who gives the previous quest…and who gives the reward. You should be able to find out where they are quickly. Boobie soft? really? Nice addition to the dynamics of the show Another greatand informative show…Keep up the good work! Book and Jack the Spinner says Good evening gang I am just catching up with my correspondence and found this collection of thoughts that I meant to send after episode #11, but forgot. I blame old age This is mainly a question for Tasha, but all feel free to chip in. Tasha’s thoughts on playing Ranger in the demo at Gamescom were quite interesting, particularly the section on her pet being unresponsive. Of course, this is a common complaint by the GW1 community as well, so I wondered if Tasha plays beastmaster much in GW1. I love my pets and play with them often, particularly farming Totem Axes and Shards in the Wailing Forest in FoW (mainly for fu), is an effective way to learn and hone pet control skill. Personally I feel that pets get bad press because players just don’t understand pet mechanics (I am not suggesting this applies to any of you). Well, as the pet is an integral part of the GW2 Ranger’s character mechanic, it is obviously of no use if the pet is actually unresponsive. In GW1, the two main causes of pets appearing unresponsive are (in my opinion) 1) Out of aggro, the pet must be explicitly ordered to attack a specific target via pet control panel and skill usage. They will not attack out of aggro unless both conditions are met, if both conditions are met, they will attack instantly from flatbow range or a shade outside. 2) Pets, annoyingly, can stand around amidst the enemy, in which case they are body-blocked, or blocked by a terrain feature (no body-blocking in GW2 so that won’t apply, though terrain blocking will I assume). Thoughts from the floor? enjoying the shows Jack Togo’s Soapbox What can I do if I don’t like any of the armor sets for my profession? Protips You guys talk a lot about keybindings in previous shows, but how do you guys keybind? Emails Captain Martin calls in Toom Cools says Hey Relics of Orr team. These new crystal beast are minions of Kralkatorrik, when he finally landed it was near the Tomb of the Primeval Kings and Glint’s lair. Emails Captain Martin Long tries to offer us the most sweet deal! He’s also not related to Martin Short and his name doth protest too loudly. Carlo Viganò says Hello Relics of Orr krewe! I started listening to your podcast a while ago, then I discovered that I have an alter-ego in Chaz (I’m also studying accounting, my name is Carlo = Charles = Chaz and I do all the crazy notepad BU accounting stuff he does when selling things on Gw…), and that is how my addiction started. Yesterday I listened to Tasha’s I believe FIRST in-Gw SHOW on air on SI Radio and actually chatted a little with her, she’s lovely, and owned a nice Hide & Seek game in Gw which was great!!!! (Never played it before, thought it was kinda stupid but when you actually start getting into the teleport frenzy it’s so much fun!) After the show I had a very nice Zbounty quest + domination in the craziest zone (full of bridges, up & downs…jeez) with Chaz whose heros has some supernatural GPS Ability…and in him I found a really good player! We owned that area accounting-style… This is my experience so far with you guys and since I’m enjoying it so much I’ve decided to write this mail ^_^ Show’s Great! Love it, actually the Europe/Canada/Usa mix works nicely, Tasha has the nicest accent (even if she told me she prefers USA’s one lol), Secret Agent Cat blog is awesome and Ryan has some speaking frenzies and jokes which are just hilarious ^_^ I’d definitely love to meet you guys all in Gw and experiment an elite area together or some random PvE….it’d just be great!!! (IGN Ubi Maior) After all this boring stuff about how much fun I’m havin with you guys and bla bla bla let’s write something usefull such a debate idea for your show: a topic that I’ve always cared about but it’s not as popular as I’d like to, is the fact the MMOs actually come from D&D…which comes from the desire of people who are into Fantasy to actually BE into a Fantasy adventure as a protagonist. If you think about MMOs as games based on Fantasy literature, game mechanics then become a set of rules and choice options that yes, allow a game to be playable, but also have to keep the “spirit” of Fantasy books into the game. Nowadays a lot of great MMos have game mechanics that focus more on the “awesomeness” of moves and battles rather than making the game “fantasy acceptable”. Gw2 on the other hand has a really strong “story” and “make you feel like a [...]

Rob Alden asks Hey there I love the show! I know there are no official system requirements known for Guild Wars 2 yet but I was wondering what you speculate the requirements might be? The first Guild Wars System Requirements: Minimum system specification * Windows Vista/XP/2000/ME/98 * Intel Pentium III 1.0 GHz or equivalent * 512 MB RAM * 3 GB available HDD space * ATI Radeon 8500 or NVIDIA GeForce 3 series video card with 64 MB of VRAM Recommended system specification * Windows Vista/XP/2000 * Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or equivalent * 1 GB RAM * 4 GB available HDD space * ATI Radeon 9600 or NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 series video card or above Based on games out now though it seems like the recommended requirements might barely be the minimum specs for GW2? Or will they be scaling down there specs to something more along the lines of the first Guild Wars? My Specs are listed under this but even now my graphics card is on the mid to low scale when it was on the high end when I first bought it a year or two ago. On the Windows Index scale my graphics/gaming graphics are at a 5.3/5.5 Windows 7 Intel® Core™2 Duo T9800 2.93GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M, 2GB – SLI® Enabled 320GB 7,200RPM Will I be able to run the game on my computer with full detail and settings maxed out? If not what do you think I should change? Someone mentioned a cheap $109 XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670 1 GB DDR5 DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card HD567XZNF3 But I don’t even know how I would go about installing it since I’ve been using Nvidia on it. It’d probably break lol And Phillip Broomhall asks Hi guys and girls reading this, I’ll admit I have only just this past week listened to the latest Relics of Orr podcast (#11) but am steadily making my way through any that might have information about Guild Wars 2 that I myself may have missed. In episode 10 of the Relics of Orr show you all talked about the dynamic events system as well as breifly talking about dungeons. I was just wondering whether you think ArenaNet will likely throw some dynamic events in the game which will unlock and also prevent access to various dungeons, so for example. Dungeon A is currently heavily guarded by a huge force of centaur. A dynamic event starts where players are tasked with taking out the centaur general in charge to weaken the moral of the remaining force. - Upon defeating the general in charge the remaining centaur forces retreat to Dungeon B. This allows players to explore dungeon A, however Dungeon B will now be cut off and inaccessable to players until a new event which will see the centaur pushed away again, thus unlocking access to Dungeon B but preventing access to Dungeon A. I hope the example above wasn’t too confusing, so what do you think? Is this something ArenaNet may do to give players a choice in which dungeon they want to explore. Togo’s Soapbox I thought Guild Wars was an MMO, but this sure doesn’t feel like an MMO. What’s up with all this instancing? Protips How to get more than three [...]
