Indie folk-rock sensation The Mountain Goats make their first appearance on the show, and multi-talented Mountain Stage favorite Nellie McKay returns. Ohio-based journeyman rock band Red Wanting Blue will also be there, and you'll also hear from Brooklyn-based string band Spirit Family Reunion.

This week’s premiere broadcast of Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features acclaimed duo David Wax Museum, with their vibrant hybrid of Americana and traditional Mexican music. You’ll also hear a captivating solo set from renowned folk singer Lucy Kaplansky, along with some straight ahead rock from songwriter and producer Chuck Prophet. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jesse Harris also appears and duo Barnaby Bright make their first appearance on the show.

This week’s encore broadcast of Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features legendary musician, songwriter and producer Booker T. Jones. He plays some of his most well known hits, a few new tunes, and touches on his collaborations with greats like Bob Dylan and Bill Withers. The exciting young jazz and pop quartet Lake Street Dive make their first appearance on Mountain Stage, and alternative singer-songwriter Jill Sobule returns to the show. Memphis-based band Lucero bring their road tested meat-and-potatoes country rock sound to the show, while The Lost Brothers and Doug Paisely each deliver intricate and sets of their own original music.

Youll hear from undisputed rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson, whose new album is appropriated called Unfinished Business. Youll also hear from one of country musics most influential female vocalists, Connie Smith, along with the respected and often-covered singer-songwriter Larry Cordle. Pokey LaFarge & the South City Three call to mind a bygone era, and newcomer JD McPherson bring Chuck Berry-inspired rock and roll into the 21st century.
