 Father of Faith - Part 7 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:33:18

Genesis 15:6 NIV Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. To this day, everything God does anywhere on this planet is given through the covenant that He made with Abraham 4000 years ago! Galatians 3:29 NIV If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Genesis 12:3 NIV ...and all the peoples of the earth will be blessed by you. Ephesians 2:12 NIV ... remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. Matthew 15:21-28 NIV 21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” 25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. 26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. 1 Samuel 17:10-11,16 NIV 10 Then the Philistine said, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.” 11 On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified. 16 For forty days the Philistine came forward every morning and evening and took his stand. The negative personal experiences of many people will rob you of great faith in God! 1 Samuel 17:26 NIV David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” Deuteronomy 28:7 NIV The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. 1 Samuel 17:36 NIV Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. Abraham's covenant killed Goliath! The covenant with Abraham is the basis for all the good things God wants to do in your life. Galatians 3:13-14 NIV 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. The essence of the curse: - Complete financial ruin - Failing health and loss of family - Complete separation from God We have no way to know what we are to resist and what we are to receive without an examination of the contract between God and Abraham. You will not receive any blessing that you are not mindful of! Matthew 8:11 NIV I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

Casual students will always misunderstand the God of the Bible and He doesn’t care! Hebrews 11:6 ISV Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him. Genesis 22:1-2 NIV 1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” James 1:13 NIV When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; The first “test” of a new believer is baptism. Baptism is an indicator of our willingness to obey God. Genesis 15:7-14 NIV 7 He also said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.” 8 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?” 9 So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.” 10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away. 12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. 13 Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions. Genesis 15:17-18 NIV 17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. 18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land… God let him know that he would not make Abraham pay the same price for the covenant that He Himself would pay! Genesis 17:1-2 NIV 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. 2 Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.” Genesis 17:15-16 NIV 15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. 16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.” Genesis 17:19 NIV Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. Genesis 22:3-5 NIV 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” Hebrews 11:17-19 ISV 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered Isaac—he who had received the promises was about to offer his unique son in sacrifice, 18 about whom it had been said, “It is through Isaac that descendants will be named for you.” 19 Abraham was certain that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did get Isaac back in this way. Genesis 22:16-18 NIV 16 and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” Matthew 16:24-25 ISV 24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone wants to follow me, he must deny himself, pick up his cross, and follow me continuously. 25 Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

Adam... Man Seth... Appointed Enos... Mortal Cainan... Sorrow Mahalaleel... Blessed God Jared... Shall Come Down Enoch... Teaching Methusaleh... His Death Brings Lamech... Despairing Noah... Rest 3000 year span! Hebrews 11:3 KJV Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Matthew 8:8 KJV The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." Matthew 8:10 KJV When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, "Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel." Roman authority was released by the spoken word. Genesis 17:1-4 NKJV 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations." Genesis 12:2 NKJV "I will make you a great nation..." Genesis 15:5 NKJV Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” Genesis 17:5 NKJV "No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations." What is faith to us is always reality with God! Romans 10:17 NKJV So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Genesis 15:13-16 NKJV 13 Then He (God) said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 15 Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” John 20:29 NKJV "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” When God brings about a change in this natural universe, He calls those things which be not as though they were. Romans 4:16-17 ISV 16 Therefore, the promise is based on faith, so that it may be a matter of grace and may be guaranteed for all of Abraham’s descendants—not only for those who were given the Law, but also for those who share the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all. 17 As it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations.” Abraham acted in faith when he stood in the presence of God, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence things that don’t yet exist. God sees the end of the parade when we are limited to one view along the route! Romans 4:18 ISV Hoping in spite of hopeless circumstances, he believed that he would become “the father of many nations,” just as he had been told: “This is how many descendants you will have.” Romans 4:19 ISV 19 His faith did not weaken when he thought about his own body (which was already as good as dead now that he was about a hundred years old) or about Sarah’s inability to have children, 20 nor did he doubt God’s promise out of a lack of faith. Instead, his faith became stronger and he gave glory to God, 21 being absolutely convinced that God would do what he had promised. 1. He did not dwell on the negatives! 2. He responded quickly to his doubts! 3. He thanked and praised God for the answer before it appeared! 4. He convinced himself that God's promise was true. He called himself Abraham and his wife Sarah!

We're all in this together. People are not your enemy! Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJV 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. We have not all been shaped by the same experiences. It's time that we walk past the barriers and reach out to each other. Genesis 18:1-3 NKJV 1 Then the Lord appeared to him (Abraham) by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. 2 So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, 3 and said, "My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant." We must not miss the opportunities that come our way! Genesis 18:16-18 NKJV 16 Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way. 17 And the Lord said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, 18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?" Genesis 18:20-21 NKJV 20 And the Lord said, "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave, 21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.” God Himself did not "jump to conclusions". Neither should we! God is not quick to pour out His judgments! God wants us to plead for others! Isaiah 64:7 NKJV And there is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You... Genesis 18:23-26 NKJV 23 And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? 25 Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” 26 So the Lord said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.” Prayer should always be our first step in a time of trouble. Psalm 86:5-7 NKJV 5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. 6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. 7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me. Prayer creates opportunities for good!

Abram was a worshipper! Genesis 13:1-4 NIV 1 So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him. 2 Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold. 3 From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier 4 and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord. Genesis 12:7 NIV The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him Worship is a choice that we make and not a feeling that overpowers us! Worship establishes the right relationship between God and man. Romans 1:21 NIV For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. When we neglect worship, our thinking becomes futile. Became Futile - Greek (MATAIOŌ) = To make vain, or foolish. Worshippers are problem-solvers! Those who do not give God glory cannot find answers! Worship in faith before you get answers! Abram was a warrior. Genesis 14:12 NIV They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom. Any true worshipper of God knows that on-going strife in a family results in devastating consequences. Genesis 14:13-16 NIV 13 A man who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the great trees of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshkoland Aner, all of whom were allied with Abram. 14 When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. 15 During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. 16 He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people. The people of God are not called to be weak and helpless! Abram was a witness. Genesis 14:17 NIV After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). Matthew 5:45 NIV He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Genesis 14:18-20 NIV 18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. 20 And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. Genesis 14:21-23 NIV 21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself.” 22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “With raised hand I have sworn an oath to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, 23 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’ Genesis 14:24 NIV "I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me—to Aner, Eshkol and Mamre. Let them have their share." Let our critics crawl over a pile of good works, brotherly love, and acts of compassion to cast their stones at us.

 Father of Faith - Part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:33:46

Genesis 12:1-3 KJV 1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, "Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." The nature of God's blessing is like a pipe, not a bottle. Just like Abram, we will have to step out in faith to experience this blessing. Genesis 12:6-7 KJV 6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him. Signs from God come to those who step out in faith. God led Abram in easy stages. Genesis 12:9 KJV 9 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south. Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Genesis 12:10 KJV 10 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. Just because God makes you a promise doesn't mean you won't be challenged. God was faithful to Abram even in his moments of weakness. Genesis 12:3 KJV And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him who curses thee. Genesis 12:11-13 KJV 11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, "Behold now, I know that you are a fair woman to look upon: 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, 'This is his wife': and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee." If God developed Abram's faith over a period of time, will He not do the same for you? If Abram was led in easy stages, will not God lead you in the same way? Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean you have not grown spiritually! Faith in God is a life-long journey. He will be faithful even when you stumble!

 Father of Faith - Part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:28

Zechariah 13:7 Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. Abraham is the Father of Faith! Acts 7:2 ISV Stephen replied, "Listen, brothers and fathers. The glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham while he was in Mesopotamia before he settled in Haran." "If there had been anything, anything at all, in Abraham to attract God, it would be that the perfection of God could be satisfied with imperfection in a creature." -Donald Barnhouse Romans 3:10-11 ISV 10 As it is written, "Not one person is righteous. 11 No one understands. No one searches for God." Joshua 24:2-3 NIV 2 Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Long ago your forefathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the River and worshiped other Gods. 3 But I took your father Abraham from the land beyond the River and led him throughout Canaan and gave him many descendants.'" Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV 1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." Isaiah 51:2 NKJV Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him. God is confident that His work in us and through us is effective enough to undo any damage done to us by our families! John 7:1-5 ISV 1 After this, Jesus traveled about in Galilee, for He didn't want to travel in Judea because the Jews were trying to kill Him. 2 Now the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was approaching. 3 So His brothers said to Him, "You should leave this place and go to Judea, so that your disciples can see the works that You are doing. 4 For no one acts in secret if he wants to be known publicly. If you're going to do these things, you should reveal yourself to the world!" 5 For not even His brothers believed in Him. Genesis 15:1-6 NKJV 1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." 2 But Abram said, "Lord God, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" 3 Then Abram said, "Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!" 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir." 5 Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." 6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. 36 Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. 37 They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—38 the world was not worthy of them. Responsibility: The state or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one's power, control, or management. Genesis 2:16-17 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 3:12 The man said, “I’m the one at fault here and I take complete responsibility for my actions. In this message we will hear from our Executive Pastor Whit George. He'll share how the junk we carry around often gets in the way of our purpose, our relationships, and prevents us from being the us we are meant to be. Hebrews 12:1-2 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. What are you holding on to that’s keeping you from becoming the person you were meant to be? More focus = More impact Acts 16:23-28 23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” Acts 16:31-33 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. *Ask God *Discover your gifts *Take a step What are you holding on to that’s keeping you from becoming the person you were meant to be? “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” - Michelangelo To watch the full weekend worship experience, visit churchonthemove.com.
