Nihilist varade endast två år i denna inkarnation och hade aldrig möjlighet att släppa någon fullängdare under det namnet. De släppte en singel 1989, "Drowned," och en samling 2005 som innehöll "Drowned" och de två demospåren "Premature Autopsy" och "Only Shreds Remain," som de spelade in 1988 respektive 1989. Bandet bildades av Nicke Andersson och Alex Hellid och bestod av Lars Göran Petrov som sångare, Leif Cuzner på gitarr, Johnny Hedlund på bas, Andersson på trummor och Hellid på gitarr. Andersson och Hedlund utvecklade en fientlig relation, vilket ledde till att Andersson splittrade bandet. Resten av bandet, förutom Hedlund, bildade ett nytt band—Entombed. Johnny Hedlund gick vidare med att bilda sitt eget band, Unleashed. Leffe åkte så småningom för att studera i Kanada och blev kvar där. Nihilist kan sägas vara initiativtagare till det numera berömda dödsmetallsoundet i Sverige genom sina demos och det material som de producerade under namnet Entombed. Nicke Andersson, in addition to playing drums, is a songwriter, singer, composer, and guitarist and has produced artwork for bands he's been involved with.
