Τα τραγούδια του έγιναν μεγάλες επιτυχίες και τα περισσότερα γράφτηκαν για ταινίες της εποχής. Ήταν άνθρωπος απλός, αυθόρμητος και μεγαλωμένος σε φτωχή οικογένεια. Από μικρή ηλικία ασχολήθηκε με τη μουσική, παίζοντας κρυφά μελωδίες στο μπουζούκι του πατέρα του. Πριν γίνει μουσικός έκανε διάφορες δουλειές, ύστερα όμως αφιερώθηκε σ´ αυτό που αγαπούσε και με αργά αλλά σταθερά βήματα κατέκτησε τη μουσική βιομηχανία αλλά και τις καρδιές όλων των Ελλήνων. Μέσα από το μοναδικό του στυλ που σημάδεψε την πορεία του λαϊκού τραγουδιού, εξέφρασε τον πόνο, την αγωνία, τον έρωτα και τη χαρά όλων των κοινωνικών τάξεων. Στην πορεία της ζωής του βοήθησε πολλούς νέους καλλιτέχνες, χωρίς ποτέ να ζητήσει αντάλλαγμα. Όμως δεν του φέρθηκαν και οι άλλοι με τον ίδιο τρόπο, μιας και πολλές φορές χρησιμοποίησαν τραγούδια του χωρίς να τον αναγνωρίσουν ως δημιουργό. Έτσι κι αυτός, ύστερα από παρότρυνση της γυναίκας του, άρχισε να ερμηνεύει τα τραγούδια του ο ίδιος, με μεγάλη επιτυχία. Ένα από αυτά είναι και το «Χίλια περιστέρια». Τόσο οι στίχοι, όσο και η μουσική φτιάχνουν τη διάθεση σε όποιον το ακούει, με τις λέξεις να φέρνουν στο νου ευχάριστες εικόνες και το χαρούμενο ρυθμό να ηχεί μελωδικά. Το έγραψε το 1991, αλλά δεν πρόλαβε να χαρεί την επιτυχία του, αφού στις αρχές του επόμενου χρόνου η ασθένεια που τον ταλαιπωρούσε για πολλούς μήνες τον κατέβαλε. ----Formal English---- "A Thousand Doves" "And a thousand doves, to kiss your hands" sang George Zampetas, one of the most important popular Greek music composers of the '50s–'80s. His songs became great successes, and most of them were written for movies of that period. He was a simple, spontaneous person raised in a poor family. Since he was young, he was interested in music, secretly playing melodies at his father's bouzouki. Before he became a musician, he occupied himself with different labors, but afterward he dedicated himself to what he loved, and with slow but steady steps he conquered the music industry as well as the hearts of all Greeks. Through his unique style that stamped the route of popular songs, he expressed the pain, agony, love, and joy of all social classes. During the course of his life, he helped numerous new artists without ever asking for anything in exchange. Others, however, didn't treat him in the same way, since many times they used his songs without recognizing him as the creator. Thus, after his wife prompting, he started performing his own songs by himself with great success. One of these is "One Thousand Doves." The lyrics and music improve the mood of whoever listens to it, with the words that bring to mind happy images and the joyful rhythm that sounds melodic.
