De Nederlandse versie van Blue Movie werd in 1971 gemaakt. Wim Verstappen regisseerde, en Carry Tefsen en Hugo Metsers waren de sterren. De film draait om een man, Michael, die juist vijf jaar in de gevangenis had doorgebracht voor seksuele misdaden. Zijn eerste toevluchtsoord na zijn vrijlating is een groot appartementsgebouw dat vol lijkt te zitten met vrouwen die seks willen seks hebben. Veel van die sex-hongerige vrouwen in het gebouw zijn ook getrouwd. Elly, de vrouwelijke hoofdrol in de film, manipuleert Michael en zet hem aan om een sex-bedrijf op te zetten dat gespecialiseerd is in orgieën. Ze overtuigt hem om zoveel mogelijk seksueel te experimenteren, en zij bundelen hun krachten om hun sex-georiënteerde business uit te laten groeien tot een bloeiende leider in de sex-scene. Doorheen dit alles, wordt Michael verliefd op een alleenstaande moeder die niet aan hun orgieën meedoet, maar tegen de tijd dat hij haar eigenlijk in bed krijgt, blijkt hij bij haar alleen maar impotent te zijn. Verstappen's Blue Movie is belangrijk om verschillende redenen. De eerste, de film wordt gezien als de impuls voor het verwijderen van het systeem van filmkeuring in de Nederlandse filmindustrie omdat het met de eerste beoordeling die de film kreeg toegewezen, helemaal niet mocht vertoond worden. Ten tweede, was het de eerste Nederlandse film die zowel mannen als vrouwen naakt in een volledig frontale positie toonde. Ten derde, behoort het in de top vijf van kassuccessen en meest succesvolle films in Nederland. De film was op de Nederlandse televisie pas in 2004 te zien, enkele dagen na de film regisseur overleed. ----Formal English---- Blue Movie There have been several films by the name of Blue Movie through the years, and all of them have been pornographic in nature, probably because the term "Blue film" is a slang term for any pornographic movie, as well as amateur pornography from the underground in India. The Dutch version of Blue Movie was made in 1971. Wim Verstappen directed it, and Carry Tefsen and Hugo Metsers were the stars. The film centers around a man named Michael, who just spent five years in prison for sex crimes. His first address after he is released is in a large apartment that seems to be filled with women who want to have sex. Many of the sex-starved women in the building are also married. Elly, the female lead in the movie, manipulates Michael and talks him into setting up a sex business that specializes in orgies. She convinces him to experiment sexually as much as possible, and they unite to bring their sex-oriented business into a thriving powerhouse on the sex scene. Throughout all of this, Michael falls in love with a single mother who does not participate in their orgies, but by the time he has the opportunity to bed her, he is impotent only with her. Verstappen's Blue Movie is important for a few reasons. First, it's credited with being the impetus for the removal of the rating system for Dutch adult films because the initial classification it received within that rating system was such that it was not allowed to be shown. Second, it was the first Dutch movie to have both men and women shown in full frontal nudity. Third, it ranks within the top five highest grossing films and most successful movies in the Netherlands.
