The Gamers' Inn

The only way to start this post is to say a huge thank you to everyone for the support we received this past weekend. Ryan and I combined raised over $1200, and all together our Gamers' Inn team raised over $2000. That was DOUBLE our initial goal. So thank you, you're awesome! This week our innkeepers played games for charity for 24 hours straight. Every 2-3 hours we did a check in, talked about the games we had been playing, and included a few guests like Rick Pivin, Lou Page, Kevin Lemel, Paul Swickard and Joel Duggan. We decided to compile these together into one super long special episode crammed full of awesome... Join us and watch the deterioration right before your very eyes! This week on The Gamers' Inn we're joined by Rick Pivin of the FXL Network and Lou Page, writer for TGI and co-host on Zombies Ate My Podcast. Oh, and we're giving you all the juicy details about this weekends big event, EXTRA LIFE! Jocelyn has been watching some original Mass Effect, enjoying the story and experiencing none of the dated gameplay. Ryan gives us an update on his WoW situation, as well as a run down on Sleeping Dogs and Walking Dead Episode 4. Rick describes leveling from 30 to 85 in WoW and Lou has been saving Canadians in XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Topic of the Week is all things Extra Life, we go over our current status in terms of donations, what we'll be playing and when, as well as a quick discussion on whether or not we've actually stayed up for 24 hours before... What a wild time at the Inn this week... Jocelyn and Ryan were joined by the fabulous Mark "The Turpster" Turpin for the latest installment of Road to Halo 4! There was lots of talk about Mists of Pandaria as well, what with there being a World of Warcraft "expert" handy and all... There was even a live video broadcast again! It was a week full of WoW giveaways including fancy WoW pets to the chat room, as well as the two copies of WoW to Val and Ben! Congratulations guys and thanks for listening :D

The Gamers' Inn is back this week with a huge change, we gave video a try! With our big Mists of Pandaria episode coming next week, Jocelyn and Ryan reveal how little else they've been playing. Jocelyn fooled around with Castle Crashers while Ryan played some New Super Mario Brothers 2 DLC. The fall lineup of video game releases then took center stage for our Topic of the Week (featuring LEGO LOTR, Halo 4 and Resident Evil 6). On our next episode we will be joined by Mark "The Turpster" Turpin to chat about Halo ODST and his thoughts on the upcoming Halo 4 release, as well as tonnes of Mists of Pandaria talk. This week starts off with Ryan telling us about his recent guest appearances on FanBoys XL and The Citadel Cafe. Jocelyn is showing her true alt-aholic colours in World of Warcraft and is very disappointed that she needs a new computer (although building a new computer will be tonnes of geeky fun!). Borderlands 2 is alright, The Sims 3 is alright, but you know what was AWESOME? Battle for Middle Earth. Don't forget to send in your feedback for a chance to win World of Warcraft in 2 weeks!

The Gamers' Inn is back this week with a continuation of Road to Halo 4 with a focus on Halo 3! Before that Ryan discusses his reasoning behind preordering the Wii U as well as a discussion on the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection for Wii. Yah... He kept it pretty Nintendo this week... However, Jocelyn makes up for that by going over Borderlands and her hesitation to pick up the sequel, also she shares a small issue she overcame in WoW this week. Topic of the Week is dominated by Road to Halo 4 once again and Halo 3 is up to bat! Both inn keepers actually enjoyed playing through Halo 3, which resulted in a long and interesting discussion about story, graphics, and gameplay. All this concludes in a quick discussion of what the ending of Halo 3 may mean for Halo 4. On our next episode of Road to Halo 4 we'll be having Mark "The Turpster" Turpin on the show to discuss Halo 3: ODST and of course Mists of Pandaria. This week we realize we really haven't discussed mobile gaming as a topic... Inspired by the new Apple announcements this week, Gamers' Inn discusses new Apple hardware and the on the go gaming in Topic of the Week. Before that though Ryan explains how to play Rock Band without expensive plastic instruments with Rock Band Blitz and afterwards talks about New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 3DS. Finally we wrap up What We're Playing with some more MMO talk of Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft. Special thanks to the hosts of The Citadel Cafe for the intro music this week! Jocelyn and Ryan continue their talk of MMO's this week with Joce playing more WoW and Ryan Guild Wars 2. A bit of a heated discussion starts when the topic of people being UNABLE to buy GW2 from the ArenaNet website as a digital download is brought up. Afterwards Ryan gives a "quick" rundown on The Walking Dead: Episode 3 and describes it as an awesome depression causing game. For Topic of the Week the inn keepers discuss downloadable content. How much should these add-ons cost? How late a release for DLC is too late? Is exclusivity dumb or is it just plain dumb? Alongside those questions the new Mass Effect 3 DLC Leviathan is covered, a 10 dollar expansion to the single player experience.

This week marks the return of Road to Halo 4, and we discussed Halo 2! Before all that fun, we begin with a talk of MMO's. Jocelyn has been playing more WoW and Ryan played a full day of Guild Wars 2. But will he return to GW2? Place your bets on the Forums! In our discussion of Halo 2 Jocelyn played the Xbox version and Ryan played the updated PC version. You'll have to listen to the show for the full run down, but Jocelyn definitely had a rough time with the Xbox version and playing it on an HD console... Was not pretty... We start this week off with a giveaway! Hero Academy on Steam is being sent out to Bobafettish, congrats! In What We're Playing both Jocelyn and Ryan are playing Darksiders II and Hero Academy. Ryan also played some more Kinect with Happy Action Theatre, while Jocelyn discussed her altaholic nature in World of Warcraft. After some Quick Fire News we discuss the "Girlfriend Mode" story in Topic of the Week and dive in to more general sexism in the Video Game Industry. It was quite the interesting conversation, and the chat room was having a blast listening in. You'll hear a bit of it in the outro but this episode was a great example of why you should always tune in live for the post show. :) Finally we close out the show with ANOTHER giveaway! Jocelyn on the other hand has moved on to bigger and better things with Darksiders II (expect to hear a lot about this title in the next few weeks as both inn keepers are devouring this game). After some Quick Fire News Jocelyn and Ryan discuss the EA vs Zynga case in Topic of the Week. It's a firery battle to the death between the publisher giant and the social gaming king. This week on the Gamers' Inn marks our first episode in the Road to Halo 4 and we start things off with Halo: Combat Evolved. Before discussing some Halo we start things off with casual conversations of pre-orders, golden nunchuks, and Olympians using Zelda music for a routine. In What We're Playing Ryan has been playing smaller chunks of games with Agent Dash on iOS, Wreckateer for Kinect, and Left 4 Dead 2 while Jocelyn is still trudging through KoA and thoroughly enjoying Civ V: Gods & Kings. Finally we conclude the show with our Road to Halo 4 segment covering the first game in the franchise, Halo: Combat Evolved.

The show starts off with a discussion of Orcs Must Die 2 and the awesomeness that is the new Co-Op features! Next Jocelyn vents her frustrations with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Ryan follows up with the crazyness that is Saints Row The Third. After some Quick Fire news the inn keepers discuss OnLive, the game streaming service. You may be thinking, hey that's been out for a while, well we're in Canada and we just noticed it's available up North. Enjoy the show! The Summer Steam Sale is over and the aftermath is a scary and cluttered digital library... Ryan delves into his backlog starting off with Walking Dead Episode 2 and Tiny & Big: Grandpa's Leftovers. Jocelyn fills us in on her adventure as the Batman in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. After some quick fire news the inn keepers tackle the biggest story this week, the release date announcement for Mists of Pandaria. What can we expect from the release? How many versions of the game will we have to choose from? Will we roll a Pandaran Monk and pretend to be Jack Black? Tune in and find out!

On this weeks delayed Gamers' Inn the tired Jocelyn and Ryan discuss video game movies (also a very tired genre)! In What We're Playing Jocelyn finally picked up Kingdoms of Amalur on Xbox 360 and played a bunch of XBLA demoes. Ryan played the Spelunky demo and the new Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC. After some Quick Fire, Topic of the Week is inspired by the news that Sam Raimi is no longer directing the Warcraft movie. This leads into a conversation on video game movies, including what's our favourite video game movie, our least favourite and even our perfect dream movie! Enjoy!
