The first round of the European Hurling & Camogie Championship got underway in Paris on May 4th, while last weekend the Football Regional Championship continued in the North West and Iberia. Aidan McAnespies yet again showed the force of their home based player-base when taking the first honors of the new season when winning the Pat O’Brien Football Cup on Sunday at Canton, MA. A full schedule of NY GAA Knockout and Junior League action continued last week and over the weekend with the standout result in Senior football knockout seeing Kerry gain revenge for their 2012 championship final loss to NY Leitrim. In the Podcast NY GAA PRO Ira Goldman also talks about a very competitive junior league where new kids on the block, Manhattan Gaels, not alone impressed on the field again, but caught the eye on arrival! 11:03

It was quarter final time yesterday in Hurling and Camogie in this year’s NSW GAA League at Monarch Fields, Ingleburn in Sydney with the mens and ladies football competitions also approaching the finishing line. While there is one more regular season round left in the football it was serious stuff for the hurlers and camogs on Sunday with something of a surprise in the hurling when Central Coast recorded a fine victory over the more fancied Sydney Shamrocks. Queensland GAA saw the last of the placings for the Carpenter Cup Series decided on Sunday at Willawong, Brisbane when underdogs Souths took on John Mitchels for a place in the final of the men’s senior football cup against Harps. This was a close game all through and Queensland GAA President Seamus Sullivan takes us through the action, and also, talks about the opening game of the hurling league. 13:46

The early season Pat O’Brien Football Cup comes to a conclusion next Sunday when the irrepressible Aidan McAnespies take on the defending champions Wolfe Tones at Canton, MA. This Boston Northeast GAA competition saw its two semi finals take place last Wednesday and on Sunday. In the podcast, PRO Rory O’Donnell takes us through the action, and also fills us in on the start of the hurling season. 10:25

Sunday was a tough day for NY GAA as the senior ‘Big Apple’ football team suffered a heavy loss to visitor’s Leitrim in the opening round of the Connacht Senior Football Championship at Gaelic Park, The Bronx. The New South Wales GAA League is nearing a conclusion in hurling and camogie with the quarter finals to be decided at Monarch Fields in Ingleburn, Sydney next weekend. Meanwhile, in men’s and ladies football there’s two rounds of the regular league schedule left with lots at stake as teams vie for the top four spots into the semis.
