The biggest ever Western Canada GAA Championships took place at Edmonton last weekend with plenty of firsts in great performances from brand new teams in both men’s and ladies football as well as the very first hurling competition. The final round of the New South Wales GAA Championships took place in Hurling and Camogie in Ingleburn, Sydney on Sunday with defending champions Michael Cusacks and Central Coast respectively topping the tables. Meanwhile, in Men’s and Ladies Football it was the second last round with important games down for decision at Monarch Fields. While there are a few rained out games yet to be played to decide table placings, the winners are declared for this year’s Queensland GAA League with the Harps club taking both the Men’s Football Divsion 1 and 2 titles, East Celts win the Ladies Football League while Na Fianna once again take the Hurling League crown. The weekend’s results in the London Senior Hurling Championship threw up some surprises not least Sean Treacy’s defeat of 2012 finalists Kilburn Gaels. It was a momentus weekend for many teams in the Milwaukee Hurling Club League on Sunday with the likes of Silver Spring House, McBob’s, and Trinity all looking to improve ahead of the Playoffs while at the top of the Leaderboard, the top two All Tool and the Irish Pub Ninjas, slugged it out for No.1.
