Janet Cranford: Prioritize your values to determine what you really want | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:00:00

Career coach Janet Cranford believes that navigating a successful personal career path is more than having a well written resume and successful work experience. A professional career journey, she says, has an inner path and an outer path to be explored. If the outer path is your set of experiences, then your inner path reflects your priorities and values. She describes a cycle of renewal which helps explain why success and satisfaction often yield to the doldrums--- and that, she says, can be good thing. Our greatest opportunities emerge at the intersection of our expertise, purpose and marketplace opportunities. Janet Cranford My clients are in midlife and ready to make a difference in the world, whether it's in their own backyards or on a larger, more global scale. They want socially meaningful work that's an authentic expression of who they are. (Wow! Just noticed it's out of print now, except for the Kindle version.) Reflections on the Art of Living: A Joseph Campbell Companion. I'm IN LOVE WITH Joseph Campbell! I've always loved myths and legends, and Joseph Campbell teaches us that our hopes and strivings and fears are universal. That we're all in this together. Transformational Speaking: If You Want to Change the World, Tell a Better Story, by Gail Larsen. I've certainly had my fears about public speaking, but this book has helped me see it differently. Speaking is more a matter of finding your own story and connecting with others by sharing what's in your heart. The Velveteen Rabbit, by Margery Williams. This quote from the book says it all: "'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you.... You become. It takes a long time.'"

David Redlich: Envisioning The Internet for Small Business Commerce | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:45

Entrepreneur David Redlich is a pioneer in the application  of the internet for online commerce. In 2004, along with his partner AND co-founder Matt Kuttler, their forward-thinking mindset allowed  to create a business that leveraged the capabilities of the Internet before its full potential was understood and harnessed. ReStockIt currently sells over 200,000 products on their site. It began as an office supply retailer, but quickly grew to include many other necessities, such as janitorial supplies and electronics. David’s logic in selling so many diverse products is that customers will come for one product, and stay for the rest: “To us it’s an acquisition play.  How do we get more customers and get them into the database so we could get more business,” he reports to ENTREPRENEURradio. His strategy of creating a “one-stop shop” for any and all business needs demonstrated steady success, and ReStockIt.com was purchased in 2013 by Acme Paper and Supply Company. ReStockIt.com earned recognition, including South Florida Business Journal “Business of the Year” in 2008 and 2010 and was a finalist, along with his co-founder for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. His entrepreneurial approach of “high tech/high touch” business strategies is an essential element of his entrepreneurial mindset. David’s philosophy is to think big, and that forward motion from large-scale planning pays off.  He had a grand vision of  Internet’s capabilities when he launched ReStockIt, and as a result, he was well positioned to have an early advantage when the marketplace consciousness emerged.  To learn more about David Redlich and ReStockIt.com, listen to this week’s episode of Inside The Entrepreneurial Mind on ENTREPRENEURradio.

Dr. Mindy Cassel: Your Mission Drives Your Success | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:50

Many people enter the world of entrepreneurship in search of financial success. Psychotherapist and social entrepreneur Mindy Cassel had an entirely different purpose when she founded the Children’s Bereavement Center with her partner Dr. Carol Burns. She wanted to help children struggling with grief, and to provide a way to provide those services on an ongoing basis without cost to the participants. “When we started out, we felt that these services should be free of charge”, she explains, “Grieving people are often in the worst part of their lives, a critical juncture where they often don’t know their financial situation,” Mindy says in her interview. She concentrated on her mission, to provide solace and healing to young people experiencing tragic loss. Mindy enlisted partners, sponsors and underwriters to fulfill this vision. She discusses her experience as an unexpected social entrepreneur in an interview with ENTREPRENEURradio’s “Inside The Entrepreneurial Mind”. Dr. Mindy Cassel created a self-sustaining not-for-profit built on partnerships rather than charity. Who are your natural partners for joining forces to fulfill a shared vision? Listen to her interview on ENTREPRENEURradio to find out.
