David Redlich: Envisioning The Internet for Small Business Commerce

LIVELIHOOD show

Summary: Entrepreneur David Redlich is a pioneer in the application  of the internet for online commerce. In 2004, along with his partner AND co-founder Matt Kuttler, their forward-thinking mindset allowed  to create a business that leveraged the capabilities of the Internet before its full potential was understood and harnessed. ReStockIt currently sells over 200,000 products on their site. It began as an office supply retailer, but quickly grew to include many other necessities, such as janitorial supplies and electronics. David’s logic in selling so many diverse products is that customers will come for one product, and stay for the rest: “To us it’s an acquisition play.  How do we get more customers and get them into the database so we could get more business,” he reports to ENTREPRENEURradio. His strategy of creating a “one-stop shop” for any and all business needs demonstrated steady success, and ReStockIt.com was purchased in 2013 by Acme Paper and Supply Company. ReStockIt.com earned recognition, including South Florida Business Journal “Business of the Year” in 2008 and 2010 and was a finalist, along with his co-founder for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. His entrepreneurial approach of “high tech/high touch” business strategies is an essential element of his entrepreneurial mindset. David’s philosophy is to think big, and that forward motion from large-scale planning pays off.  He had a grand vision of  Internet’s capabilities when he launched ReStockIt, and as a result, he was well positioned to have an early advantage when the marketplace consciousness emerged.  To learn more about David Redlich and ReStockIt.com, listen to this week’s episode of Inside The Entrepreneurial Mind on ENTREPRENEURradio.
