She is a track and field athlete, who competes internationally for the United States of America. She is an Olympic gold medalist, winning gold at the Beijing 2008 Olympics as a member of the United States' Women's 4 x 400 meters team. She is also a two-time Olympic silver medalist at 200 meters, as well as the only woman ever to be a three-time Athletics World Championship gold medalist for that distance. She is also a member of President Barack Obama's Council for Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. Raised in a Christian home in Southern California where her father was an ordained minister and New Testament professor, she sees her running ability as a gift from God. She says of her faith, "My faith is the reason I run – it calms my heart and makes everything feel like a lift. My speed is definitely a gift from Him, and I run for His glory. Whatever I do, He allows me to do it." Her name is Allyson Felix.

One of the biggest problems in the body of Christ are people who do not have the assurance of their salvation. They think that because of their sins, their negligence, their failing to endure to the end, or some other reason, they may lose their salvation. This is tragic! On Wednesday of this past week, the world received the news that Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple and creator of the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, and the Macintosh computer, had died after a six-year struggle with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. A statement from Apple regarding his death said that "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve." Steve Jobs' sudden death, just weeks after he resigned as CEO from Apple, should be a reminder to us all that our lives will soon end one day. Those who think they are saved now but could lose their salvation later have one of two problems: First, they are trusting to some degree in their works to save them or, second, they do not understand that by trusting Jesus Christ as Saviour their destiny is in the hands of God. Where did you go on your last summer vacation? Where are you going on your next summer vacation? When you drive a vehicle, your goal is to arrive safely at your destination. There is no certainty that you will arrive safely, but you will use all of your knowledge as a driver to attain this goal. However, there is a final destination that you have total control over. At the end of your life, you will arrive at either heaven or hell. It is your choice to make. No one will have a say-so on this trip, because you are your own driver, and you have the opportunity to choose your own destination. You could choose to spend eternity in hell, where you would suffer pain, agony,and anguish forever. Wouldn't you rather live in a place of no pain, sorrow, worries, trials, temptations, and failures? None of these exist in Heaven; instead, heaven is a place of peace and happiness forever. The Bible says that heaven has twelve foundations made of precious stones, streets of gold, walls of jasper, gates of pearl, and a refreshing river of life flowing through it. Wouldn't you regret missing a place like this for your final destination? Sure you would! Jesus, God's Son, does not want you to miss heaven either. When He spoke to His disciples, He told them in John 14:2, "In my Father's house are many mansions...I go to prepare a place for you." Jesus will prepare a place for you as well, if you will simply accept the payment He has already made for you. He shed His blood and willingly gave His life for you, so your eternal destination will be in heaven. + Plus, listen to Mandisa singing "My Deliverer"
