We live in a world of mergers and acquisitions. Restructures and reorgs.  If and when this happens it's a great opportunity to do some reflecting.  Tips:  Ask yourself: do you hate this new role or just lack passion?  What did you like about your old role?  What motivated in your previous position?  What were you passionate about in your previous role? Is there anything you like about your new role? Is this a permanent change? In general what are you passionate about? What gets you excited to get up and go to work? Can you shift the culture to make the role / team more fun? Focus on the positive  Do other people feel the same way? Might be time to brush the dust off your resume and adventure into a new role Establish daily / weekly goals  Can you learn something new in this role? Is your new leader someone you could have an open, candid conversation with?  If you stick it out, what are your career growth options? It's not always easy to stay motivated and engaged. When it gets real, how do you stay motivated and engaged? Tips:  Get clear on your priorities  What's your why Dig deep to the root cause of why you are feeling unmotivated or disengaged. What changed? What are your long term goals? What do you like about your job? What is your team working towards? Complainers / whiners Don't fuel the fire  End conversations to get to it  Re-direct the conversation, get back on track Is there a root cause you could solve for? Come to Jesus conversation, is this the right role? Ask the whiner what their solutions would be Spin to a positive  Call them out  Sell them on the opportunity Set expectations  See if they have voiced the concerns to their leader  Let them know you heard them  Can you find common ground with non work topics? If its impacting you, be honest about it  Add positive, uplifting people to your day Avoidance  Ask if they are looking for input / advice / guidance  Slackers:  Communicate  Set clear expectations  Set regular check ins / status updates  Offer to help with any roadblocks / questions  Share how their work impacts you / the team Their lack of work is not your responsibility  You don't need to cover for them all the time  Be honest and blunt  Have a candid conversation with leadership Focus and prioritize / stay the course  Don't let it get you down, stay positive and motivated  Use them as a don't lesson  This is not an opportunity to pick up bad habits  Don't become a complainer about your slacker  Limit your yes's to work that doesn't involve that person  Ask yourself, does this impact me? For real? Is this person ok? Help doesn't always have to  come from our direct team! Prep: Get clear on the exact problem  What is causing the problem Where did you get stuck? What have you tried? Did any of those action items move the needle?  Network:  Are there other teams that can help you? If you asked your colleagues, can your boss help? If you asked your boss, can your colleagues help? Network: ex-colleagues?  Previous leaders LinkedIn Job specific meet ups Social media platforms  Ask experts in your field  Evaluate:  Is this a company you want to stay at? Is this a leader you want to work for and align to?  It's ok to move on if this is a long term issue vs temporary problem Continue to be a rockstar! Here's the thing, and this is good to know out of the gate, there is no such thing as work life balance. Life is not balanced. Work is not balanced. It's more of a moving target Tips to achieve better balance  Prioritize  Delegate  Ask for help  Evaluate  Utilize and emphasize your strengths  Do your hardest tasks when you work best  What are your non negotiable items = stick to this  What tools, apps, technology, software, etc can help you? Movement / exercise  Coach? Therapist?  Do and schedule the things that bring you joy Take breaks  Use your time off  Structure your day / week / month / year  Could you get up earlier? Go to bed sooner? Batch tasks  Don'e just play on the weekends  Stay focused at the tasks at hand  Commit to a go home by time and make it vocal  Shut down completely when you're not at work  To do list - can you outsource anything? We've all heard the saying it's not about what you know, it's about who you know. Is that true?  Does our career success rest solely on who we know? What if we don't know anyone? What do you do? How do you break into these amazing opportunities?  How do we thrive in our careers when we don't have inside connections? Let's explore!  Over time you are going to build your reputation with great work. You'll build relationships when you:  Perform Exceed expectations People can count on your to get the job done  Help others  Be someone people feel comfortable talking to  Confidentially Being a human  Start with your first job:  Perform Exceed goals Ask your manager what their goals are Help get them there  Volunteer for extra projects  Solve business problems  Help your team reach their goals  When you're ready to leave:  Leave on great terms:  Longer than normal notice  Offer to help train your replacement  Ask what you can do to make the transition as seamless as possible  Want to keep in touch Ask if needed, can you use your manager as a reference If your leader was super awesome leave them a recommendation on LinkedIn Side note: do this for your great colleagues as well  Starting your new job:  Find out what the vision is  Why were you hired? Problem? Growth? = Insights on how you can contribute  What are your personal goals? What expectations does your manager have of you? Schedule / request regular check ins or 1:1 with your manager  What are you doing well What do you need to work on General feedback  Day to day updates / questions / etc.  Rinse and repeat

Question 1:  How to answer the interview question: Detail your greatest achievements in the last 5 years and how they relate to this position  List out your biggest struggles in the last 5 years  What did you have to do to overcome those struggles  What did you learn  Review your annual reviews  Ask colleagues about team project achievements  How does it relate?
