We’re back in the studio at the house today with just the two of us. We discuss the the jamb packed last weekend that was full of barrel racing across the nation, our sick kid, and answer questions from a listener. Thanks for hanging out with us!

This episode was with our good friend, Lacey Harmon. It was our second conversation from the Texas Fall Classic Futurity and Barrel Race. Lacey is a barrel horse breeder and trainer. She’s been in the game a while despite not quite being 30 years old yet. She has had loads of success throughout her career while training futurity horses, but none more than when she won 3, (yes THREE!) $100,000 slot races in the last 2 years.

Hey there! This conversation is with our good friends Hallie and Lee Hanssen. Together this barrel racing power couple has a phenomenal program that includes standing multiple stallions, having a deep breeding program, and training and competing on some of the best horses in the barrel racing futurity game. They’re great people with interesting stories who have a genuine knowledge and passion for their sport and profession. We really had a blast talking to them. Hope you enjoy it!

We’re just a few months into this and we’ve had some of the biggest names in the sport of rodeo and barrel racing on the show already. While that has been all good and exciting, we’ve had a few folks asking us to have on some “normal” barrel racers or maybe someone that your everyday weekend barrel racer can relate a little more to. Well, we decided to have on some NOT SO “NORMAL” BARREL RACERS.

Our 3rd conversation from the 2018 WPRA Finals was with Angela Ganter. Angela is a barrel racer, mom, and really good friend ours. She recently became the Canadian Grass Roots Champion and will be heading to the Canadian National Finals to compete next week (Oct. 30-Nov. 4, 2018). She’s also the mom and hauling partner to multiple time NFR qualifier, Jackie Ganter. Angela was Jackie Jatzlau’s hauling partner when Jackie qualified for the NFR in 2003 and 2004.

Our second episode from the WPRA Finals was with roping superstar, Lari Dee Guy. Lari Dee is an 11-time world champ, horse trainer, clinician, and all around bad ass with a rope in her hand. Her list of accomplishments are LONG and can be found on her website HERE! We really enjoyed talking to her and hearing stories about her fellow ropers, cool partnerships, and amazing horses.

This episode of MWH is with “Backflip" Johnny Dudley. Johnny is a professional rodeo clown and great friend of ours. He’s my favorite rodeo act and also a hell of guy. Johnny is also a former US Marine, a dad of 2 little boys, and along with his beautiful wife, Emily, and her family they own a phenomenal tack business, DUECES WILD TACK. He really is all about rodeo and the western way of life.

Jonathon Oliver, or “JJ” as we know him, is an author, speaker, and dad. He’s penned a few books including "Joy In The Journey: 1st Year Chronicles of a Stay At Home Dad." He’s also traveled the country giving speeches in schools and other places for a couple of organizations.. We’ve known Jonathon for a long time. We grew up together in the same little Texas town. Welcome Back!  This episode is with pro rodeo legend, Joe Beaver. "Joe B” is a 8x World Champ (5x in Calf Roping, 3x All-Around), member of the PRCA Hall of Fame, 19 NFR Qualifier, 1985 PRCA Calf Roping Rookie of The Year, and all around rodeo LEGEND. These days, you can see Joe for 10 nights in December (and various other times throughout the year) as one of the TV commentators for the the PRCA and the National Finals Rodeo. Seriously, this guy IS pro rodeo.

On this episode of Married With Horses we discussed the first weekend of the pro rodeo season. It needed a little flexibility and wasn’t exactly what Jackie had envisioned. We also discuss coaching kids soccer, Columbus Day, and an interesting FBI case against a local kid. We also answered a couple of questions from listeners (see show notes for time-stamps). Our conversation IN STUDIO today was with Jimmie Smith. Jimmie just wrapped up her rookie professional rodeo season and ended the season as the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association Rookie Of The Year. We have a lot of history with Jimmie. She grew up around us and worked with Jackie on the ranch in the summers during high school and college. We feel like we’re were Aunt and Uncle and couldn’t be more proud.

On this episode of Married With Horses, Jackie and Lane talk about random things... as usual for the weekend episode. We ALMOST get political when we talk a little bit about our current climate around sexual harassment regarding multiple current events. We don’t get too deep here, so don’t let it scare you off! We also talk about a couple of other events in our lives and Lane get’s on his soapbox a bit. Sorry!
