Ever wonder how much you need saved for retirement? The 4% Rule is a great rule of thumb for easily calculating how much you should have saved up for retirement without running out of money.  5 Ways To Improve Your Credit Score | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:24:13

Does a credit score really matter? And how can you make it better if it does? In this episode, I talk about how much your credit score matter for the big milestones in life such as getting a mortgage, renting a house, getting car and home insurance, and even getting a job. When it comes to increasing your credit score, there are 5 simple things to be aware of. 1) Payment History - pay your bills on time! 2) Credit Utilization - use the least amount of credit that is available to you 3) Length of Credit History - the longer you've had credit lines, the better (also, don't ever close an old card) 4) Credit Mix / Credit Lines - Lenders like to see that you can be responsible with multiple different kinds of credit, such as credit cards, student loans, a mortgage, car loans, etc. (But don't go out and get a loan just to help this score!) 5) New Credit - Applying for a lot of credit cards in the short term will hurt your credit score and decrease your average age of credit, but as long as you are responsible in the long term, it's not a big deal.  Morality Of Money | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:06:15

Is chasing after money a good or a bad thing? Well, it depends what that money is being used for. If it's being used for good, then acquire as much money as you can! But if the money is being used for evil, that is when money can become a problem. It becomes a problem because money is simply a means to an end. It's an amplification of the heart. It is a tool to be used for good or evil, it is not good or evil in and of itself. In this episode, I talk about what the morality of money really is. It isn't immoral to work towards earning a lot of money. The moral dilemma comes when talking about where that money will be used. As a way of getting to know more people and build better relationships, I offer a Free 30-Minute Discovery Call. During this call, I am all your to ask any personal finance questions you may have.  Why You Need A Financial Planner | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:07:24

Why You Need a Financial Planner You go to a dentist to fix your teeth. You go to a mechanic to fix your car. Yet, only ~40% of Americans utilize a financial planner to help them with their finances. In this episode, I explain why having a financial planner is in your best interest. While you're out doing what you're good at in the world, let your financial planner do what they're good at.  Budgeting Made Easy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:19:35

Who LOVES budgeting?! *crickets* Budgeting can seem restricting. It takes the freedom away from you and how you spend your money. But it doesn't have to be that way. In this episode, I talk about shifting your mindset about budgeting and instead of thinking about it as restrictive, thinking about it as liberation. I talk about 3 main things that you must have in place in order to budget in the best way. 1) Mindset - Discipline = Freedom. If you have the discipline to save money now, you will have freedom down the road in retirement. 2) Map - You need to know where you are and where you want to be if you want to make a meaningful budget. Do you need to save more money in order to be where you want to be in retirement? Less? The same? Knowing where you are and where you want to be is the first step you need to take in order to start creating a purposeful budget. 3) Method - Anti-Budget. The anti-budget is the simplest form of budgeting out there. All you do is take out the money for investing and bills off the top of your paycheck, then spend the rest how you want. With that being said, it is still useful to know how much you are spending in certain areas, so budgeting tools can help. I use Pocket Guard to help me see where my money is going. It can be very helpful taking a step back from the day to day of life and seeing where your money actually went.  Finance 101 Trailer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:07:21

In this trailer episode for Finance 101, I talk about what this podcast will be about and why I created it. What: This podcast will focus on everything finance. From retirement accounts, taxes, budgeting, and everything in between, I want to help listeners understand more how to handle their own finances. Why: I want to help people. So many people are lost when it comes to finance and preparing for retirement. You don't know what you don't know, and this case seems to be doubly true when it comes to finance. There is so much to learn about this topic, so if you don't spend your time devoted to learning about this topic, you will probably miss some areas in your financial plan that can be improved upon. For instance, what is the tax torpedo and how does it affect your provisional income and the taxation of your Social Security? (We'll talk about that in a later episode) Website: https://www.wholesomefinancial-brentdunn.com/ FB https://www.facebook.com/Bdunnfinance/ FB Finance 101 Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/finance101group/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Finance101_Blog Blog https://finance101.blog/ Linked In www.linkedin.com/in/brentdunn1 iTunes Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/finance-101-your-guide-to-investing-financial-planning/id1394097470?mt=2#
