In this episode I share some quick thoughts about teen leadership. There are many teens who give us great hope for the future as they display empathic leadership that shines a light for others to follow. We are so lucky to have so many great young people in our schools and communities.
Our choices define who we are. They define us to our family, our friends, and to whatever our destiny might be. It is best to own your choices, the good ones and the bad ones, and learn from both. Making good choices is not always easy. Making good choices can sometimes be the most difficult thing you have to do at any given moment. Even the best of us can make the wrong choices, the challenge is always....what have you learned from the choice you made.
Why do some people get addicted while others do not? Is it biological, is it weakness, is it an illness some catch while others do not? Many people drink alcohol and not al of them become alcoholics. Is this illness preventable? What can we do working together, to keep our family, our friends, and our country safe from the evil clutch of addiction? Thoughts?
In this episode we talk about the necessity for good and open communication between the parent and the teen. Raising young children to become good citizens and positive young adults is the true labor of love. It's the best job in the world!
Legal marijuana. Is it coming to Illinois soon? Have we crossed all of the T's and dotted all of the I's? Are we prepared for all of the changes legal marijuana will bring to our days....and nights?
A five minute talk about repeat DUI offenders in our midst. What can we do to ensure that impaired drivers who fail to learn their lesson be kept off of the roads.
Smart people can make stupid mistakes. In my part time role as Court Monitor I DUI Misdemeanor Court I see many cases come before the Judges. It's not a pleasant experience for the offender. For the Teen offender, however, it is a chance to grow from the mistake, to learn from it, and to not repeat it. Too many teens either choose to drive impaired or get in the car with someone who is driving impaired. Teens need to make the smart choices, the right choices.
