Kaley campus pastor Dan Holland looks at the early church and the things they devoted themselves to. What are we devoted to? Our devotion determines our destination. To get what the first church had in Acts, we have to focus on the things they devoted themselves to.
Pastor Justin Miller takes a look at the arrival of the Holy Spirit. Jesus had told them to stay in Jerusalem and await the coming of the Comforter, better known as the Holy Spirit. So wait they did, and the Holy Spirit arrived with wind and fire. The most amazing thing was how it changed them.
Today, Pastor Justin Miller looks at how the early church started. The Apostles were told to wait until the Holy Spirit came upon them to start preaching again. Justin talks about what it means to wait on God.
God is setting us up in different circumstances in order to use us. In Acts 20-28, Paul goes through a lot of trials and troubles, but God used each of those to reach different people.
The Ephesian church had to weigh the cost of following Jesus. Saying “Yes” to Jesus means saying “No” to sin. We have to count the cost of being a Christian in our own lives.
We focus on what to do when we are facing difficulty and how to rely on God in the midst of our pain.
We often get caught up in traditions and do things the same way all of the time. In Acts 15, we are going to look at how the early church dealt with things being “too good to be true”.
Our beliefs drive our actions, and our actions reveal our beliefs. It is so important that we know what we believe and then live out our beliefs. No matter what we're going through, God has a plan. He has overcome the world and the best is yet to come!
We can't let our prejudices get in the way of God's purpose. The Gospel is for everyone. It’s not just for those who look a certain way, or come from certain areas, or think a certain way. If the church is to grow and be what God desires it to be, we need to put away our prejudices and love people as God loves them.
God can change anybody. No one is beyond redemption. Our past can’t keep us from God’s promise. Whether we are viewing others or ourselves, we need to allow God's grace to prevail.
We often get caught up in the details of life and either miss or disregard Divine appointments. We know God will orchestrate Divine appointments - the question is whether we will listen, accept and are equipped for them.
Being a part of the early church was hard. While the early church didn’t have all the “how to”, they had a “heart to.” The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. The harvest is dependent on the workers to spread the Gospel message of Jesus. There is a call for all to step up and serve. “Heart To” vs “How To”. Both are important.
We examine how to pray like the early church – not for change of circumstance, but for power to overcome it! They prayed prayers of praise, not prayers out of panic. It’s not THAT they prayed that’s impressive, but rather WHAT they prayed. Boldness.
