Jacob Satterfield is a long time friend of Redneck Tech Podcast and he has got a really cool perspective on not only the hunting side of production but also a really good grip on the west coast, big production aspect of this world. On this episode we talk about what he is doing now, lighting interviews, being a stringer in LA as well as covering wildfires in California.

Storytelling is a subject that most people feel is hard to talk about or hard to explain. I do not feel that way. I think it is simple. I have talked about it time and time again in short form. Who, what, when, where, why, and weather. Beginning, middle, and end. Establishing shots, and transition shots. Those are the basics and if you know how to be creative while filling these boxes you are going to be successful.

On this episode I have two of the members of the 8th and Tine crew on to tell a story about a really poorly executed deer hunt from their early velvet season in Tennessee. Grant and Austin go into detail about all the things that went wrong on this hunt and we all put our heads together to talk through how we can prevent this from happening again as well as what all we learned from it.

Several months ago I was looking for someone to help me on a project and I was needing someone who could shoot and edit. I put out on add on the facebook page "Outdoor Filming Professionals" and I got several guys that wanted to be considered. The problem was none of them had a Production Reel showing me they knew how to do anything. Just because you have a camera and know how to roll video on it doesn't mean someone is going to hire you. You are going to need a way to showcase your work. There are several key elements to creating a good reel so here are my thoughts on it.

This episode I get to talk to the extremely talented Drew Seals. Drew is young and hungry with a thriving business in outdoor media. What I wanted to know is what advice can he give to guys starting their own outdoor business or brand to be successful. In what ways is he finding inspiration and creativity. I think Drew is putting out some of the better content in the outdoor space right now and he is someone I look to when I need some inspiration or creativity. Sorry guys it has been over a month since I last got a podcast out. Its been a hectic last few weeks and I swear I have been working on it. This episode I sit down with a friend of mine, Nick Weaver and talk to him about his new business and career in freelance outdoor production. Nick has already gotten to work with some big names like Wildlifers and Backwoods Life on the Sportsman Channel. Listen in to learn what gear Nick runs as well as what he has learned along the way.

On this episode I do a little collaborating with some awesome guys while we talk about our elk hunting trip to Wyoming this last week. On this episode there is Mark Grupe, Ryer Porter, Chris Irwin and myself. We talk about some off the wall stuff as well as some mental prep going into a mountain shoot like this one. This trip ends without a kill but we still had a good time.

Hunting season is finally here!! I am super excited to get to packing and planning for all the trips I have coming up. First one is an Elk hunt in Idaho and I will be flying, after that its an almost 30 day run of truck trips. On this episode I go over my process for packing, planning and logistics. Its going to be a fun fall!

Ryer is back on the podcast with me this week and we talk about some of the Do's and Dont's of filming out west specifically for elk. We are by no means experts or seasoned out west hunting/filming veterans but we have done it enough to know a few things that have worked well for us in the past and as well as looking into our upcoming Wyoming hunt.

This week I have Ryer Porter all the way from Sunny California in the studio to talk about his experience here at the Copeland Creative office. We got out and do some content shooting as well as take a ton of pictures and edit. Ryer talks about what he has taken away from the last few days as well as some of the things he plans to go home and work on in the mean time before our Elk hunt in September. Enjoy.

This was an unanticipated podcast. I have been working on a project for a couple of days now and honestly it should already be done. I have been cutting, watching, then deleting things a lot.
